In the same format category the Sony RX100 VII has smashed it out of the park. Surely near to the perfect vlogging camera. In the same price range certainly the Canon M50.

I am very unhappy with my current camera Canon Eos M3, I cant get the color right, (I’m working on other lighting) and the auto focus cant make its mind up, always searching. Sean in the video you highlight the fact that for photography the G7X Mark III is the superior camera. Based on this recommendation I did purchase a Mark III. Most videos I see on line regarding the Canon G7X camera line are almost all primarily for vlogging. Would you consider doing a video about how to utilize the features of the Mark II and the Mark III for picture talking only?

I use my Mark III primarily for group interviews and the microphone was the clincher for me. The hacks and adjustments to the Auto Focus problem are not/ was not a deal killer for me. Well paced and informative posting.

In short, Mark iii for better photography. Both are same for vlogging Mark iii 4K video, slow motion better, stabilizes jumpy movements (still has overheating issues, autofocus is frustrating, requires $100 continuous charger but use new Mac charger as substitute)

I'm a professional violinist and I have to record stellar audio for auditions! (Perhaps with a different plug option).

Had the G7X Mark II for a couple years and it died a few months ago. Got the m50 as a replacement based on your recommendation - haven't looked back. Love that the screen flips to the side instead of top which allows for the external mic. Still happy with the purchase and after this review, don't think we would've went with the Mark III. Thanks for the review Sean!

Just when I thought I knew everything about the G7x- that Macbook pro charger tip was 🔥🔥 The Peaking/ Focus Lock combo does work, but using it seemed to highlight for me just how awful the focus really was on the III 😒 Mark II for the WIN! Thanks Sean.

I just purchased a mark ii from a friend for vloggin and I’m very pleased! The thing is I saw a review on your channel for the mark ii where the image stabilization came with four options (none, low, standard, and high). Mine only has none and standard. Is this because it needs to be updated? And I don’t even know how to update the firmware, if that’s an option for me and I haven’t found any videos on updating the mark ii

All of my vlogs are shot on G7x III and I love it. The firmware update really improved things and I only really experience issues with the autofocus on my face in very low light conditions. The mic input, 4k and USB-C are big advantages over the mkII.

I bought my G7x Mark II, used, off of the letgo app back in 2018 for around 300 dollars and still make great content on it for myself and freelance videos/ small business projects on the side. Lining up external audio and camera video in post is a minor hassle so I do love the mic input addition for the G7x Mark III but for vloggers & filmmakers who have had the G7x Mark II now for the past couple years, we already know- and most likely have- the necessary external mic gear to work our way around the subpar mic on the G7x Mark II. It may just be me and my brokeness, but I don't think the benefits outweigh the negatives at that price point. At least not enough to buy a camera that has a worse autofocus- which is one of the G7x's main attraction. I'm sticking with the G7x Mark II for now, even though the ability to use the camera while charging is a really great feature as well. Does anyone else think these are things Canon should have put in the G7x Mark II to begin with anyway? I mean come on Canon, why you have to be so expensive? Don't you know it's hard out here? No matter the price though, we will keep on buying because the skin tones Canon gives, compared to other cameras, is just so money... where was I going with this? Oh yeah, subscribe to ya boi. Hi Sean, great video. I have a sony a7iii with a fair few lenses but have been thinking about getting a point and shoot so I dont always have to take a rucksack out with my family when we are just having a family day out. How much better are either of these than the camera on my galaxy note 10+ for photos and video's and is it worth investing in either of them for my purpose which would be photos and videos of the family? I have a MKII and the MKIII has all the things I am looking for, with the continuous charging and on board mic input in a small size. I think they put enough changes into the MKIII for me to switch.

Great video!! I got the g7x2 last year. After watching this I don’t regret my decision. I agree, for this price range I would go with a dslr or M50. The $650 price tag was already a lot and anything so similar with a higher price tag is just pushing it .👀Thanks for the review!

Maybe it's me but ALL of the imagery I have seen with the MKII has been fabulous and amazing for what the camera was intended for. If I need better images, then I would move onto my DSLR. I'd rather have a proper focus and lower quality [others opinion] image than loss of shots while the MKIII tries to figure out focus.

I would have got the mark 3 had it not been for the focus issue. The mark 2 is super fast and I have had no issues with it even for photography the mark 2 is still amazing but it would have been God mode if they added the audio jack to the mark 2 There are many compact point and shoot cameras that have 4k at that price

thanks for this video, my mark II just broke down and I was thinking of getting the mark III. I use my camera for vlogging and after watching this video, I am not so sure I'll get the mark III
