You should also highlight that the main reason that zerodha was able to maintain consumer loyalty was the absence of ads and the zero commissions which would have been impossible if they were accountable to outside investors. The 2 major lessons that were missing here are: 1) that entrepreneurs should try and avoid outside funding as much as possible as this tends to dilute the founders' vision and creative control. 2) The second one here is to find a moneymaking niche that will be able to compensate for your seemingly money draining operation done to transform the ecosystem. In case of zerodha, the main earning of it comes from intraday and options trading which these guys have done so well and easy that they can afford to keep equity delivery and mf fees at 0 which is frankly the big money drain for all discount brokerages and the main reason why all of their competitors are running at loss and burning cash.
