Always great to have really good demonstration and explanation of the fundamentals. How the paint flows off the brush and control of layer opacity is 90% of skilled painting

Great stuff Ricardo! I am beginning to understand more and more after doing Workshops and watching your videos. I will go back to your earlier ones too, because I am sure I will get more out of them every time I watch them.

28:35 definitely interested in second part of this video! I like to sometimes combine inks with regular acrylics and would love to hear your take on that. Diluting true metallics would be great too! Maybe go into when and how much to wick of unwanted moisture of the brush that is loaded with a thinned paint.

This is a really well explained video on the fundamentals. Wish this had existed when I started painting!

This is the best video on how paint works and how to thin and use. Great to get the information on how the paint reacts on the pallet. It has been a light bulb moment for me. Cheers very much. Fantastic work. Thanks a lot.

Wow! Timing of this tutorial is perfect. I was not sure, why I always get glazes after mixing my colours. Now I know! There was too much water in the brush. Today, I have done experiment and used colour shaper for mixing. I have never painted soo fast! Thank you soo much!!!

Thank you for the video, good explanations of the basic of dilution. A topic I would be interested in, is the addition of various medium to alter the paints behaviours, flow imporover, retarder, surface tension, satin fluid...

Yeah it would be the next video on the topic together with inks

Very helpfull explanations 👍 Especially the advice to only fill the tip of the brush for glacing. Now i know what my main problem was with good glacings. I allways had to much of it in my brush 🙈 I'm shure i will have much less problems with this technic in the future. Thank you very much Riccardo 👍 Any advices for painting with Inks would be much appreciated. Thank you

Inks will get a video in the future but in general you can use them as easier colors to glaze or to dilute other colors into layer consistency while increasing saturation. It’s mostly this, especially strong in the shadows and mid tones

I would like to prethin my kimera paints (well least my favorite ones). I plan to empty half of the bottle into another bottle, however I hope from this video I can learn how much water/thinner/flow improver to put into such mix. If anyone has a good recipe, please let me know. Thanks much!

I honestly would advise against pre-thinning, even in the palette. But if you really want to do it, it might help to know what you plan to achieve before doing it.

Great video! Very useful. A video about metallics would be nice. I have a question of the transparant colors like in Cobalt Bluegreen in the video (I also just learned that you put 'transparant' on the bottle): you need to add white to have a good coverage but what if you don't make the color lighter but keep it as is? Thanks
@kimeramodels
@kimeramodels Ай бұрын
You can’t. You have to reach the same tone but with other paints with different properties: phtalho blue + white + green for example. Transparent colors give you tools to do things in a different way and achieve different results. If you don’t need them to be transparent and single pigment (for mixing purposes), it’s better if you achieve the same tone with other means.

@@kimeramodels thank you, I applied your technique of using the palette in your way and it's working 👌. And now I now more about the Kimera Kolors paints...

Will there be a video about blending in the future?

Maybe, I’m not too fond of the topic because I think is very much not important compared to other topics like composition and it’s very boring to see as it’s more about repetition than anything else (like repeating several brush strokes in the same spot, and that it’s really not fun to watch at all). I’ll see if I can make it more palatable in some ways

17:50 with "and if you let that color (paint) puddle, it will create frosting". Is this because a puddle has a lot of paint or does it also have something to do with how the paint dries when you flood the mini too much? Like how you can get a coffee stain for example: the surface tension creating a strange drying pattern and thus finish or pigment distribution.
@kimeramodels
@kimeramodels Ай бұрын
It’s exactly surface tension in which the matting agent gets pushed to the outer ring of the puddle thanks to the water. That’s why it doesn’t happen when you use the right medium instead of water.
