I've been using windows 11 and I've definitely noticed a noticeable decrease in lag in the OS. this would make more sense since windows 11 is what windows 10x came out of, and windows 10x has removed some of the bloat. it's almost like the windows 9 became 10 sorta thing but moved up a generation.

I was actually looking forward to 10X, I would've loved a lightweight version of Windows.

It would have been nice to have a proper running OS for those walmart cheapo laptops with 4GB RAM 64GB EMMC storage laptops instead of forcing them to run full windows 10 with no means to upgrade anything on the machine.

Do you think Windows 11 would include the dual-screen possibilities that Windows 10X used, for example: - Possibility to rotate between portrait and landscape. - The changes to the bottom screen when the keyboard is used. - Apps splitting their information over the two screens when maximised in portrait mode. Honestly, I'd hope it would, given that Windows 11 is built off of Windows 10X.

Windows 10 21H2 will be a minor update - build 19044. (21H1 is 19043). Since Windows 11 was announced, Microsoft has stopped releasing weekly insider preview builds of Windows 10 which is why it is thought Windows 10 won't get any more major feature updates. Especially now that Microsoft is working on Windows 11

It's to bad they canceled 10X. I liked the idea of a ChromeOS Windows Alternative. Something that can compete with Chrome in schools and for people who want something light and simple especially if it can use full Office. I could have seen myself getting one for writing when I'm out and about instead of getting an expensive (or cheaply made inexpensive) laptop.

I'd say, that this project became so expensive and the changes so extreme, that they eventually remade it into Windows 11.

A school I'm working at has a smart display that is running Windows 10X (I think). It's very similar to what you had shown in this video, extremely barebones and you can't even access the Task Manager. However, I'm unsure which version it's running as the Start menu is a lot different (opening it fills the whole screen with a list of apps, similar to Windows 10 style) and the Edge browser is still the old one.

The first time they announced Windows 11 or i saw the leaked build the first thing i saw is Windows 10X fake version. The thing is that 10X was an alpha of Windows 11 for me.

10X file explorer was just the file explorer app from Windows 10 mobile you weren't going to have the ability to access the whole file system in 10X Each app would have a limited virtualized filesystem they could access for security isolation.

They should've just named Windows 11 Windows 10X or Windows 10.1, it would make a lot more sense than assigning a new version number

I don't see a lightweight Windows 10 being of any use for us. What would have been nice is a simpler method of configuring Windows 10 Pro for my staff machines without all the garbage in Windows, that has no place in an office environment. I need an hour or more removing everything I can to have as trim a deployment as I can.

I managed to keep my desktop on 8.1 (it was a fight), because I don't want spyware as my O/S. I have it as dual boot with Linux Mint. Currently in the process of downloading Linux versions of all my programs, then I'll get that MS crap off my computer completely.

The worst thing about windows is that it is filled with a lot of old stuff and the double apps though cmd, powershell paint, paint 3d settings, control panel Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge Notepad, Wordpad Photos, Image Viewer cortana, search many more and one other thing it has microsoft input text application, wow like isn't writing with keyboard a part of os why is it used as a seperate app which you will terminate and boom, also explorer.exe, :| Gui is too a part of os, u say it will be needed to fix corrupted icons by terminating it, why don't just restart the Windows like always and if you are saying there are some feautures in one app and some in the other in the listed double app groups, couldn't it come with all features in one app. Also Windows gives access to an app more than limits which shouldn't be for security reasons like android asks you for each of the thing it needs access to and Windows just "Allow this app to make changes to your device" which can just put registry key for keyboard block and you can't type anymore..Only techy people will understand..Can any other os be this unmanaged and unoptimized??
