I like keeping those case frames- rip all the plastic off of it and then use it as a skeleton for a custom project or just run it as an open testbench- it didn't look damaged, just missing the front panel. Seems like you got a decent deal to me!

Hell yeah. The first few pickups I did were gold, that is what got me hooked. The last few, not so much LOL. And yeah, I bought an Rx590 and roaches were coming out as I was driving home. I thought I shook them out. When I got home, they still kept coming. When I opened the card it was like a colony. Definitely inspect before going inside.

I have bought a lot if gaming PCs that were listed as not working, wont boot. So far none of them had anything bad, almost all of them they attempted an upgrade and connected something wrong. As for low balling, you have to take into account it may not work. If none of that stuff worked $100 wouldnt be a great deal it would be a ripoff

that was deffo a good deal, i wouldnt worry bout the make shift cooler, some people dont even do that, feel it warm up and watch it post before turning off asap, not sure that would work with old school cpu's that dont have IHS Heat spreaders like Athlon Xp Cpu's.

The B450 boards have been the unrecognized champ of the AM4 platform. Solid, reliable and capable of running the entire AM4 series of Ryzen CPUs. Value for dollars is very very high. When you said it had a R5 4500 in it, I knew there wouldn't be any problem with it. Had there been, a BIOS update to fix it has been available for several years. Put in something like your 580 and the cheap gaming box appears. BTW my B450 board has had a 1600, 3600 and is currently rocking a 5700X. Still have room to run a 5800X3D in it, should I find my price.

13:48 Funnily enough I just picked up this exact motherboard in recent deal. In the deal I got a 650 EVGA gold PSU and the board for $60, so not amazing but decent. I paired it with an AliExpress Ryzen 5 3500 ($50), free patriot DDR4 someone gave me, a GTX 1070($65) and coolermaster cooler box case ($40). Last thing is storage and it’s about a $250 build

Sorry about the roach infestation, but the parts you got was worth it for at least 2 great builds. Of course the white case was a dud, but that’s where you could get a cheap $49 case such as the Thermaltake V100 if you don’t like to do RGB, or the simple basic RGB build in a cheap budget case.

Reminds me when used to mod Xbox systems. Before taking them in the house I would saran wrap the whole thing and leave it in the garage for a week. This is because another modder told me he opened one up and a flood of tiny roaches flooded his garage. So gross. He had to hir3 an exterminator to get rid of them. I was never going to let that happen.

I had some trouble with CPU support on a Prime B450 M-A when attempting to use a 4000 series APU but that was a couple of years ago and they've probably fixed it with a more recent BIOS. I wouldn't use a power driver on electronics. It is how I was trained and it really wouldn't speed up my workflow much when building a PC. A note about those testers. May test good on voltage and power up time but cheap PSUs can actually have a lower power capacity than stated. Specs on that Dell were originally a Ryzen 1400 and RX560. I typically reference the notches when installing an intel CPU. It is faster than squinting and looking for those tiny triangles.

Sorry about that pickup Broh, roaches are kinda rare nowadays when ur working with used pc's but it sometimes happen. The old timers that run PC Repair Shops always recommended to open up used pc cases and cabinets outside the store, usually in the back alley just in case theres critters nesting in there. That also goes for used consoles and really any electronic device. I always open up the case and take a look inside when I pickup used computers wether from FreeGeek or Microcenter or Local Craiglist, im looking for critters or missing parts or damage or rust or how dirty and neglected it is. It doesn't matter if the case has a metal side panel or acrylic or glass. You should always open it up and see whats inside. I think you learned your lesson tho. Also be careful if your picking up used kitchen appliances such as stoves and regrigerators or used furniture because they sometimes also have critters nesting in there. Take them to the backyard and open them up and look inside and underneath. And one last thing, most pc builders dont wash all their pc parts with hot soap and water with brushes which is a mistake, theres really no way to clean electronic devices without hot soap and water, the alternative is to bathe it in alcohol or some sort of quick drying solvent but thats very expensive and unecesary when hot soap and water is all you need. If the pc part in question can't survive the wash then it wasn't worth reusing anyways. Beside critters you also have to worry about Pet Dander from cats and dogs, like a magnet the dander which is always floating in the air of the house will attach itself to all the electronic parts inside the case, i can tell right away cause as soon as i open up a case my nose starts to itch, thats my heads up to wash everything out ASAP preferably outside in the backyard in the summer, in the winter Plan B is the basement. Dont forget to wash all your tools as well just like you would do at a Hospital. Stay Clean and Germ Free. Hope everyone had a Happy Fourth of July. Be Good. 😇🙏🇺🇸🎊🎆🎉

15:32 I have been working on computers since the Windows 3.0 and DOS 5.x days, I had my own computer support business. I started on 286 machines and moved up from there. I have lots of experience and I have built and broken a few things along the way. I have learned that over the years shortcuts bite you in the a$$. Your shortcut of setting the heat sync and fan on the CPU and not securing it or using thermal paste is going to bite you one day. That is a bad practice, I know it is only for a "test" but it is really bad form. It only takes a second to cook the CPU, I know the motherboard has thermal protection these days and will shut down but why take that chance? You are also at risk of the heat sync falling off and shorting the motherboard by accidentally bumping it. I would never want you working anything of mine.
