At this level of training, it should take no longer than this to get your horse ready to stop for you in the show pen. This is what a lot of The Comfort Zone Training Video Series will do. Watch and learn how easy and simply I touch nearly every important point in fencing and stopping and get the very best out of my horse

Could reiners be trained without hyperflexion? At 6:51 - so much tension on the neck ligament, restrained breathing, horse is showing obvious signs of pain and discomfort when hyperflexed at the poll. I just wonder... there has to be some other, alternative method that does not involve putting horses in such a position, but gets the results. The subsequent anatomical and biomechanical implications are just not worth it.

They are bred that way mostly. Naturally a lot of reining or reined cow horses carry their head low. It allows them to use their hind end more and be more athletic. If a horse has a high head it’s a lot harder to get a nice stop on them or spin. But it’s mostly natural for horses who are bred for reining. It’s not anything concerning and does not mean that the horse is being mistreated.

Total submission and hyperflexion. Does it get results? Yes, and it produces an equine robot. Rider says he doesn't know anyone who would like to be pushed around by the spur. Good movement is produced by many classic horsemen without spuring and hyperflexion. But we humans have huge egos that need to be satisfied so we go out and demonstrate to other humans how good we are at dominating horses who if they had a choice would not participare in our nonsense. Yeah, I expect to get all kinds of haters for these remarcks and I couldn't care less. At 77 I've seen a ton of crazy things done with horses and have done my own share of stupid equine malarkey to know 90% of this stuff is nonsense.

Thank god, someone with common sense ... Everyone is talking about dressage but these guys are at least as bad as the Rollkur dressage riders. It breaks my heart to see ppl praising this kinda horse treatment

Slow and steady takes too long to get the horses ready for the futurities, meaning less $ in their pockets.
