I'm just biased against AMD CPUs because since they removed the 3D Now instruction set Mass Effect gets the black pixel glitch. I sidegraded from my FX-6300 to an i5-4460 and the problem went away. I've stayed on Intel CPUs ever since. There is a mod to fix the black pixel glitch on AMD CPUs available now so perhaps things will change when I next want to upgrade my system.

The setup can still rock AAA games today at 4.1ghz, 1050ti, and 32gb of ram. The engineering samples are like skylake i7s they are practically identical in performance if you get a decent ASRock motherboard using skyoc to overclock it, It will not bottleneck an expensive GPU. They can go up to 4.7-4.8ghz with a mobo like the ASRock fatal1ty gaming k6 with a bios version before august 2016. This may sound like I am an intel shill but actually I have a ryzen 7 first gen at 3.7ghz which I got for £80 and paired it with an msi b450 gaming pro carbon ac with 16gb of 3200mhz, so if you are a gamer you would benefit more from the engineering sample as it can do higher frequencies and that's more important if you get an expensive gpu, keeping in mind if you go for the engineering sample your upgrade path is now non-existent.

But it's just hypothetical since I don't know if the binning process would still happen for ES cpus or if they are taken from a batch just for testing purposes with compatibility stuff or whatever. But seeing how bad it over clocks that's what makes me think that if it wasn't an ES and part of an actual skylake product line, it wouldn't have been binned as an i7

The Ryzen 7 2700 is only $150 at the Micro Center. That is a awesome price for 8cores 16threads. 2080's and 2070's are dropping too. $560 for a Aorus Extreme 2080 and $450 for the 2070 Aorus Extreme. These are the best prices i've seen by far. I even spotted an open box Red Devil 5700XT for $350. Zen2 R9 3900X anyone. There available for $550, all at the Micro. I also just picked up some FLARE-X 16GB kits of 3200cl14 B-die for $100 a peice. Let's just say I spent all the extra money i had before I left the store. If anyone ever makes it to the states. I found a Stash of 3900X's for $550. Those seem to getting impossible to find near MSRP.

@@futurenova1917 Wouldn't do me to sell the board. For one the amount of RAM I have, and secondly, the wife could certainly appreciate the upgrade to this platform, at least, even if I do migrate to a 9900K. So, at present, it doesn't make sense for me to go Ryzen yet, because I'd have to buy another board as well. Now that the new 10th Gen. Core i3's (10100) will essentially be a 7700K (4cores 8threads). I wouldn't recommend buying one of these. But, if your like me and Timmy Joe-leeroy here, that won't stop you from tinker"N" around with some moddin. I just finished up delidin my Core i7 3770K and got it to 5GHz. On a z77 ASRock Extreme4. It was stuck a 4.6GHz and would throttle at 105°c. Now it does 5GHz at 80°c. Definitely happy with this result. It gets over a 1000cb in Cinebench R15 and runs solid. Though, my z77 Extreme4 is holding up the 1600MHz Crucial Ballistix (Micron) kit. It hits a wall at 2400MHz. But, that's pretty good with a 1600MHz DDR3 kit from 7 years ago. If anyone was to buy a chip like this. A high-end BIOS flashible board is definitely needed.

You could go with the Ryzen 2600 and a cheap motherboard but, that would take away the cool and unique factor. Everybody and their moms has a Ryzen 2600 but, not many people have an Intel Engineering sample that's actually worth a damn and can push a decent amount of frames. That may not matter to some but, I actually think it's pretty interesting.
