Hi there Jay.... just wanted to give you a thanks, having watched your video. I recently had the intermediate shaft replaced, the knocking stopped and the steering improved..... BUT, after seeing your video, thought it would be crazy not to make that even stronger. I own a 2014 stock Ram 3500 long box crew cab with a 1500 lb camper on it.....no plans to lift it, big enough for me as it is...So I ended up getting the brace from Rough Country, that ad. came up, and I went for it... $138.00, no tax, or shipping, and delivered in 2 days. Had it installed yesterday, the mechanic said it was a very smart move, and would really improve the steering feel....You said you felt the difference on 90 degree turns, you first observation..I drove 45 miles on the interstate, then went onto a really bad California pot holed road they refuse to fix, so they patch it, making it worse....holy shit....it was amazing...the change in the overall ride was night and day. No more of that looseness...actually felt I could drive faster without cursing about the mess the road is in...This brace makes the truck feel like brand new....better in fact. Ram owners...do yourselves a favour...this brace has really changed that ok steering to superb control....Thanks Jay..keep doing the upgrades and showing us what you are doing with your build

Clean simple install, thanks for content, on my to so list.. oh and that 1/2" drive Milwaukee Impact is saweeet... use it to remove and Install big lag screws to the railroad ties for our components on the rail road. Removes old stubborn bolts and nuts and if not breaks them, powerful break/loosening strength..you'll love it for your builds to come.

You will also need to buy a REDHEAD steering box. Redhead has replaced bushings for needle bearings. With both installed you will have a solid steering system.

I just added the Thuren 2in leveling springs/fox shocks on my 2018 Ram (302 Hemi), I probably should do this before i upgrade to 35's.

Great video and info. Even though I am a dedicated Ram owner because I love the Cummins Turbo diesel, I still have an issue with them not completing their trucks fully from manufacturing to customer, particularly because of all the after market products I have to add to ensure that my truck won’t fall apart if I do truck stuff like what a truck was supposed to be for in the first place.

2015 Ram 3500 4x4 Cummin, leveled sitting on 35x12.5x18’s , I’m a full time RVer, constantly towing a 36’ Bighorn 5th wheel. I do have a dual Bilstein steering stabilizer, can I still add this or will the steering stabilizer interfere? Thanks for any input. Will be in Oregon in 3 weeks

The real test is going over a cloverleaf bypass bridge and hit a bump and see if the death loose goose is still there. I’ve got a 2020 Ram 3500 6.7 and it’s dangerous as hell especially if towing a big trailer or wet out.

My 2012 Ram 2500 had drop brackets for the sway bar that came with the lift kit. Lift is a Tuff Country 4.5". What would be the correct way to install this item with the drop brackets?

My steering box locked up and tore through the frame, After I weld the frame back I'm installing one of these to prevent that from happening again

Hmm I have no issues with steering on my 2012 with 90k. Leveled on 35’s. But my 04 even with a new steering box was always pretty loose with the brace too.

I have heard the short stearing box stabilize that only attaches to one frame rail is better because it isn't moving or twisting when the frame does... Just a thought.

Hey Jay , great vid Bro . Most HD factory parts alone run more to replace than this kit. Was this kit meant to bypass the need for stabilizer shock set ups ? My 2016 has a recall on the drag link coupler. No fix available yet till April ,so looking at these types of upgrades in the near future. I do alot of offroading .. Will hit up CJC if I do buy anything . Look forward to all your build vids . Have a great weekend.

This brace would eliminate any benefit of the carli sway bar. The carli bar allows for more freedom from side to side by essentially giving a lower spring rate than the factory bar twists. This brace bolts both sides of the frame together with a solid square bar, also why your steering instantly feels more responsive after installing. After installing this style of steering box brace, the carli sway bar would be a waste of money.

Mopar sells a virtually identical brace with their name on it. If anything, I’d think they’d be happy to see a customer eliminating a weak-link that they might otherwise wind up having to replace under warranty.

Did mine 4 yrs ago now I am replacing it probably cause I forgot to grease it I used to do it every oil change but I don’t remember the last time I greased it and the bearing housing cracked bummer

4x2 has a different setup. All 1500 4x2 and 4x4 use a different setup. This is for 4x4 2500, 3500.

As loose as the factory pitman arm nut is on most of these trucks going back on with new nut for steering brace proper torque is not required. Just get the thing tight AF

Interesting, I just spoke to cjc and they advised that that product is not needed on the newer RAMs.

If your tires are always on pavement, yeah don’t waste your money. Oversize tires and lease road bumps daily will wear down steering box.

Anyone can help me out here. I’ve got a 2016 Ram 2500 with the 6.7 in it. It makes a very noticeable tick at idle. Also, when accelerating, there is a noticeable rattle sound. Is this normal or should be concerned? Is there anything I can do to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

My truck just turned over 5,000 miles yesterday and if i were to put in the stealth module now i would have to upgrade my clutch right away because it would last less than 10K. Definitely Worth the money tho if you have a Cummins.

It would be difficult for superman to achieve 190 ft pounds of torque, I think is is safe to assume that tightening that nut as much as you can without the use of a cheater is somewhere around 150 to 170 ft lbs...

Lets think about this. I don’t have the proper size socket so I go to by one at NAPA, they don’t have one so I go to Harbor Freight and by a giant adjustable wrench. I use the adjustable wrench to remove the existing nut 👍. I use an electric impact wrench to remove existing bolts 👍. Now to install my new parts I use my adjustable wrench(Crescent is a brand, not a type of wrench) with an extra grunt and blue thread loc to make sure it’s properly tightened. Then I use the same adjustable wrench and my electric impact to install the remaining parts and tighten the bolts / screws. I make sure to point out that I inspect and clean my tools prior to placing them back in my pristine toolbox. You’re a joke, you were too cheap to by the proper socket so you could reinstall to the proper OEM specs and even though you probably had the correct tools for the smaller size nuts and bolts you were lazy and just impacted it back together. I hope your shoddy work doesn’t fall apart and kill an innocent person. I also hope that others watching see what you did and think WTF.
