As someone who has served in the Royal Navy and as someone who 😍 explorer , expedition and trawler yachts, it’s great to see more vessels like this being built. The Explorer, expedition and trawler yacht market is going to go through the roof over the next few years. Owners don’t just want to escape on their yachts for the weekend anymore, they want to escape for months at a time. And with the way the world is at the moment, who can blame them? #fairwindsandfollowongseas 🌊🌊🌊🌊
@citetez

The hull and machinery may be designed to "...escape for months at a time", but 4 crew members? On a 65 footer? This smells of a grand concept that has actually been set up for harsh reality: chartered somewhere calm and warm, serving food and booze to people who need to be cleaned up after. The area intended as lazarette/stores area now set up with pretend staterooms for the skipper/cook/server/designated vomit & protein cleaner. Same size boat that is actually used for world cruising (and doesn't look affected): www.youtube.com/@FlemingYachts/videos

On your website it says the boat has a fuel capacity of 2840 liters but somehow has a range of 2500nm. I think there is a mistake here as 1 nm per liter on that boat couldn’t be possible. In the video you say at 8 knots it’ll consume 30 liters an hour this would give the boat a range of 750nm at 8 knots. Does it hold 2840 gallons? If that were the case it would have a range of 2850nm at 8 knots. I’m not pointing out an error rather asking as there are features on this boat I like and while shopping for something that my wife and I could handle w no crew this would come into the running with a few interior adjustments to make the layout more functional.

Hi David, I have a question for your next Q&A vlog that has been bugging me for a while. When you have crew access through the transom as this yacht does, how to the crew access their quarters when under way? It seems like they probably wouldn't want to open that door while at sea. Would they have to go via the engine room (again, seems like people shouldn't be moving through there when under way). Thanks for the great vids as always!

Trawlers with swim step engine/crew access is a poor choice. A trawler could easily find itself offshore at night with large seas and needing engine room checks. It's an easy fix, just cut a hatch and install a ladder. I see this on many Turkish trawlers, including the one I purchased. Because of this arrangement an engine check at night needs three people to do safely. One at the helm, one spotter in the cockpit, and a third wearing a lifejacket to do the engine room check.

@GoodkatNW
@GoodkatNW 2 жыл бұрын
Always found it interesting that Turkish yachts seem to have almost zero interior detailing, basically just a hospital room with high gloss white paint everywhere. Also, usually, these trawler type yachts seem larger on the inside than they should be, but in this case the interior (especially the master) feels cramped and unfinished. Seeing that forward master in comparison to the ubiquitous midships full beam style really shows how different the experience could be for an owner. Compare this to a Nordhavn of the same approximate size and it would be readily apparent which one would be more comfortable living aboard! Of course, David makes it all look good with another excellent tour.

Dear David, I never comment on your vids, but your work is superb & Palmer Johnson is lucky to have you sir! Very entertaining, yet incredibly informative as well. Love getting your notifications for a great get-a-way in my day. This boat has so many contradictions. The 'pros' are high, but the 'cons' are equally low so to speak. The Day Heads side access - brilliant (and never seen it myself). The boat begins to lose me on the bow... No speakers whatsoever. No cup holders. No table, or at least a receptacle for a 3"Ø post for a detachable table top. Then there's the bench seat... Other than than being terribly uncomfortable due to a total lack of ergonomics (you couldn't sit comfortably for more than 10 minutes), it also has less style than the box my fridge came in! I've never seen another Tansu design, but I'd venture to say using white is somewhat of a 'signature move'? Nonetheless, another superb video Mr. Seal...!

I’d take this interior over probably 95% of the yachts out there. Others are too busy or tacky. Love that this doesn’t have raked windshields. I think the biggest negative is that the social space is relatively small. Also, seems like it would not be fun to be crew in rough weather on this boat, given the only way to crew quarters is the swim platform.

Do i like it? Yes and No!. Yes, I like the military styling but it needs minor adjustments in my view. The bridge windows should be inverted to block the sun and keep the heat down. The deck of the bridge can be fully utilised for solar cells. Never would I accept gas onboard and an old fashioned electric plate, this must be induction and the cost impact is neglectable. I love (personal taste) the white interior. In my eyes, it is 'criminal'' to have 4 crew on a 20 meter yacht. I would remove one of the crew areas add it to the working space and maybe (if the design allows it) open the side to have beach club area for toys etc. My recommendation is to keep is like it is and add 4 meters (easily said). All in all a very nice yacht that with minor changes can be a great live onboard yacht for the Med.

Always enjoy your presentations. Things I like, and things I really dislike about this vessel, and I'm afraid the latter outweigh the former. The straight up stem is absolutely Beneteau-like in it's ugliness. Outside head is excellent. Rectangular fairleads mean more chafe. Proper ship-like doors with dogs are great. The fly bridge is gorgeous although I'd prefer a coxswain's chair over the bench. The bridge is gorgeous. Galley is great. At 6:25: wow, see how that catch has to be mounted half off the door in order to hit the strike plate over the bathroom door frame? That's really poor design (and design is in the details). Solution has to be to make the top of the bathroom door frame an inch and a half lower for that to be mounted properly, whereas it would have been much more sensible to have just the traditional hook and eye; hook on the door, eye on the bathroom door frame, and the hook can just swivel up to meet it. All that shiny white lacquered IKEA-type finish everywhere is a bit 2001 Space Odyssey I think (and imagine trying to keep it clean and streak-free); maybe just have it in the heads; some colour and texture in the other areas would give one's eyes some relief. Crew accommodations are exceedingly horrible, no headroom whatsoever, basically living in a lazarette. And the fact that you have to use the crew head to store fenders on an empty boat means there's probably pretty poor storage overall. Thumbs down, I'm afraid. And I must ask, at 6:35, the way you pronounce "banging" sounded very Scouse! Are you originally from Liverpool?!

This boat really turned me off. :( I don't like how cramped the crew quarters are. If something happened out at sea and you had to work on the engines, it would be a rough time for whomever was stuck in there. Was there a second exit in the engine room we didn't see? Or just the one leading to the beach club? Don't want to leave on a sour note, so I will state I like the bridge windows (although, I prefer the inverted style more), the extra handles on the doors to make them a tighter fit, and whatever that magnet is called that keeps the bedroom doors open. Even though this boat wouldn't be one I would want, I do appreciate the video and I look forward to your next one.

An excellent point. Despite the "explorer yacht" language, this is clearly set up for sunning and water sports at anchor somewhere, while the crew of very small people scurry about trying to stay out of the way between serving drinks and hiding in the galley and glorified lazarette. The design and fixtures may be suitable for serious cruising, but in that context the "crew quarters" are just storage, and the crew member (skipper or deckhand depending on the skill set of the owner) if there is one, probably occupies one of the guest cabins - and sleeps on a case of Cheetos during the odd times that the owner has guests fly in for a week. For a look at how REAL cruising works, Tony Fleming's videos aboard Venture are priceless. www.youtube.com/@FlemingYachts
