You should know the difference between dissolved and undissolved solid. Its measures tds. Muddy water doesn’t mean its tds will be high because mud doesn’t dissolve in water. To check its high tds pour some salt and mix it until the salts dissolves in water and then test.

Mineral water tds should be above 250 (Himalayan,Ava,etc). Either your meter is faulty or you are using packed drinking water (Bisleri, Aquafina,etc)

Minimum 80 TDS to 200 TDS is considered best as per World Health Organization (WHO). TDS lower than 50 is actually distilled water and it's dangerous for your & family health.

@@MrDrgdf 1. clean the sensor properly when testing different liquids as the residual from the previous test can still be present in the sensor, these can give inappropriate readings. 2. Does less TDS means it is drinkable? If not what is the use of the TDS test?

100-250 is best for drinking. Muddy water is fine as well. U just have to filter the dissolved mud and stones from it.

best water for drinking should have 120-500 TDS but u can use Filteration(either sediment or UV+UF only) is enough...No need for RO. RO should only be considered for contamination of water by heavy metals like Lead,Arsenic,Iron...etc.

@@rgupta-92 Look if it is highly contaminated with Iron,you can see the buckets getting yellowish red colors...but for exact calculations,lab testing is required which isn't possible at home...If some areas have high lead or arsenic contents then Generally Municipality keeps the data but in India,no one really cares here.

@@thesparkingwire Yes, there are deposits in pipes and basins. I just moved in a rented Apartment in Kolkata and I'm a student. I'm extremely conscious about my hair and don't want to go bald because of the water😭 Also, I cook myself, but we bring Jars Bottled water for drinking, and cooking with that will be a costly affair. So was just wondering if I can cook with a normal filter water which uses candles or I have to only use Jar Bottled water.

@@rgupta-92 hey same,I am too near Kolkata and was having first time hair problems this monsoon.Look hair problems can be due to many causes.specially In monsoon don't let rains wet your hair because in big cities,rains are polluted.keep your hair dry.wash as soon as possible if you got wet in rain.Oil hair with natural oil not mineral oil ,in night once in week and wash next day .Take Vitamin D,C and lots of protein(egg or pulse,soak Bengal gram at night eat next day) in your diet look cooking with normal water doesn't effect that much...u can cook but yes using that contaminated water for washing hair might be problem...so u can use bottled water for that to wash hair 1-2 times a week.Stress is also a major factor for hairloss...do meditation and physical activities & yess Avoid masturbation.Don't worry.Following these helped me a lot personally.I have no more hairloss.

TDS should be above 50 mg/L Around 100mg/L is the best range Up to 200mg/L is acceptable in normal condition. Up to 600mg/L is acceptable in emergency situation like flood etc. TDS around 20-30mg/L is more dangerous than TDS above 200mg/L

This is a TDS meter sir, so please read about how TDS meter works. That rain water is good just a filter will make it drinkable. There will be very less dissolved soluble in it.

No dear,, rainwater is without minerals so it is not drinkable unless minerals are added externally,, or else it will pull minerals out of our body cells and that's not good at all. Albeit if you are severely dehydrated in extreme conditions you can drink a bit, rainwater is best for washing if it is not the first rain ( as it might contain acid due to pollution ), Offcourse I appreciate your thoughts to harvest rainwater for good use.

@@Pramitmandal rainwater is pure, distilled water evaporated due to the sun heat - nothing else. And we don't drink distilled water. Technically speaking if we are having a very good diet( which is a good source of dietary salts)we can drink a bit. If you want an answer in binary. It's 'No'. rainwater is not drinkable if not the right amount of salt is added. I cant change your thoughts or beliefs nor do I wish to, But having worked in this field for a considerable time can't afford to let propagate something which is not true. Coming back to geography, society, it can happen that some people in extremely arid regions can drink, but then again it's about the cost-benefit system, maybe for them, the only source of drinking water is rainwater. and we should not take that as an example.

Check with salted water . It will show 500-600ppm atleast. I think since it is MI product, is should not bad one.

Bro, TDS means Total Dissolved Solids, for muddy water the solids mixed in it might be less and it doesn't mean that it is drinkable .

I think it failed with the dirt water as it tests dissolved solids. Not much of the mud dissolves into the water.(Just my speculation)

Just by testing water with TDS test doesn't mean its good water to drink. In laboratory, tests done to drinking are 15 in number. Bacteriology tests are also done to it. This TDS device won't work accurately. We have tested the laboratory TDS device and MI device together but the results are not good. Distilled water is pure water where u can't find salts in it.

Here is a test you can do to prove muddy water section.. Take the tap water, add mud or dirt to it stir it nice, leave it for 30 - 60 mins and then measure it.

भाई एक बार बोर वेल का वॉटर check करो. जितने ज्यादा क्षार होंगे उतना ज्यादा TDS दिखायेगा. मतलब अगर पाणी 300 या 400 फीट नीचे का हैं तो ज्यादा TDS दिखायेगा.

Tds meter doesn't tell anything in particular... it just says there are dissolved substances in it.... but what are those substances which is dissolved... it has no idea.... For example, If I disolce 100 ppm of nitrate in water the tds meter would show as safe... but in reality that is a contaminanted water. Tds is only good for RO water to confirm that the RO is working as it should. If the reading is 0 that means your RO is working, If it's anything other than 0, It means there is something in the water, it can be good or bad or neutral.

100-300ppm tds value good for health becouse body absorb Mineral from water so if you don’t no the exact then don’t do this, it can be dangerous...and most of all the machine should be calibrated
