I hate messing for config files on PC games, but this one was super easy. Huge thanks to Andro Bourne for taking the time to solve this issue. I highly recommend you check out his Reddit Post and KZfaq video, as his fix solved all my PC crashing issues.

To have to wait several months for a fix on a problem that, more or less, makes the game unplayable is total and utterly a shitty move from #Ubisoft. Other developers would atleast have released a hotfix trying to fix the issue. (It's Ubisoft, hence the 'trying' word there)

Unfortunately this fix doesn't work for me... Crash after 15min feels bad man :( But I'm still playing this game even with this massive problem! The best recommendation ever XD Honestly this solution may be some kind of "placebo" Andro said that after applying this he had no crashes for 7 days or so but it's weird I was able to play without a problem for 4 days playing at least 5 hours straight everyday so it looks like a fortune wheel XD

I am 76 years old. First u tube comment. I have played div 2 on my PC for total 16 hrs, 3 seasons & NO CRASH with this fix. The div 2 pc community & I owe you and Andro Bourne a Genuine Thank You. For me, the game is playable again. Thank you gentlemen.

Any time you update your graphics card drivers, I recommend going into C:\Documents\My Games\Tom Clancy's The Division 2\ShaderCache and deleting anything in there. This will cause the game to rebuild the game shaders on launch. I know it sounds crazy, but it has worked for me and a few of my friends.

I have to say iam really pissed off about Ubisofts lack of game support... Weapons where the scopes are missing? Nah can't fix that in month. Game randomly crashing for no reason? Nah can't fix that. Small Indie Company i guess...

This fixed my problems. I am forever grateful to you and Bourne. My game used to crash every 30 minutes or so, after I got my new AMD gaming PC. Now I can play hours on end, without issues. I have not implemented the second fix, because I did not need to.

Unfortunately, didn't work for me. But, I do find it interesting how I'm seeing so many crashes in either inventory management or on the map. For example, I was just in the map looking looking at drop targets for zones and missions and suddenly popped to black window. Probably three quarters of my crashes are not during computationally intensive play.

It is not an ubisoft issue! It is windows version related. These crashes never happened on W10 ver. 1803 (REDSTONE 4) or 1903 (19h1). I think it first started appearing on ver. 2004 (may 2020 update). It is windows version and easyanticheat issue.

Andro is a God. This fixed my pc freeze & crash problem. I get a bit of stutter now every so often but a small price to pay. One telling thing, event viewer now is full of kernel errors from EasyCheat so I suspect it was one of the big causes of the crashes. Thanks for letting us know about this. Pretty sure iirc that there were no issues up until about 2 years ago so some programme changes either in the OS or EasyCheat or D2 itself caused the instability.

I have had similar issues as you Buzz. Not hte PC lockups but a lot of disconnecitons, lots of closedowns to dekstop etc.... so I have actually tried this 'Fix' and so far, things are great. I big thank you to you as a trusted KZfaqr and to AndroBourne, who I never had heard of but very grateful for his findings. THanks guys :)

UPDATE - Yesterday, I played a taotl of 6-7 hours and had only a single game crash. Today though it was differetnt. I had 2 crashes in the same DarkHours Raid and then we started a Countdown and again it crashed. This isnt a perfect solution but at least it is better than crashing a lot more than before. #Ubisoft do need to get this sorted way before TU16 as they will loose some if not all of the returning players just because of this single bug......

Thank you so dang much for this video. I was crashing 5+ times an hour before implementing this fix. Since I did both steps, not a single one. I also noticed I didn't do the Easy Anticheat CPU bypass one time and crashed pretty quick after loading in, so that for sure is related.

At the time of this videos publication the fixes suggested by this KZfaqr were absolutely spot on, absolutely legitimate and totally correct. I myslelf was becoming increasingly frustrated by how this game kept repeatedly crashing on me, but once I had taken the advice offered by this video the proplem was solved immediately. For almost an entire year I did not experience one single game crash due to this KZfaqrs excellent advice. However, since one of the more recent updates/patches I've noticed that this game will only run reliably if I don't alter the CPU thread usage or "set affinity" value of the anti-cheat. I may be wrong but It seems to me that Ubisoft have addressed the issue with the CPU thread usage. For me personally I've now noticed that the game will only run reliably if I dont make any alterations to the anti-cheat CPU thread usage settings. It now appears to me that everytime I dare change the "set affinity" values I'm swiftly punished with a game crash.

thanks for this, going to give it a try. Sometimes I can play for 2 hours straight no problem, another time it will crash after a few minutes. Mine only does the complete freeze and windowed mode, showing the desktop. Hope this fixes it!

What worked for me was setting my CPU settings in my bios to default and running the game in DX11 mode. I had my CPU overclocked and I was running DX12 when I had crashes but I've played 4 days in a row with zero crashes.

I did both fixes. The Anti Cheat one seems to have worked. Don't know if it's the combination of the two or not. However after the Anti Cheat fix, I was getting some glitching for a few seconds and then everything was fine. happened a few times but my game didn't just stop on me. Played for about an hour and a half like this. Hopefully this works because nothing like doing a bounty and not being able to finish it! Thanks for the video!

Mr LiTeBeer, I found your channel on the advice of Mr K. VonDoom, I was late to the Division party and was having a difficult time finding anyone else on PC that was active, let alone crashing every other Countdown mission. I had no idea it was ao widespread. Anyway, I wasn't experiencing what you were, but it was close enough, and no one was trying to pilfer my wallet in the process. I was on the verge of totally writing D2 off (am still giving D1 it's due). Now I'm trying to figure out if I apologize to Ubi-Support for the slightly scathing emails. I can't thank you enough, not just for the fix -that happened to work, but for the voice with the devs and creators. Peace

Thank you I will give this a go. I have a buddy that has a constant Echo 04 issue, He can reinstall the game and It will run fine the first run but on the next restart like clockwork he get a Echo 04 error for every start attempt until he does a reinstall. This is an issue that he has had pre TU15

Never knew about the first part of the fix, but the EAC fix i did using a free program called Process Lasso. Its a permanent affinity setting, so you don't have to do the task manager every time. I also use dx12, which some will think is crazy...but i rarely crash anymore. It was explained that dx12 just handles the game better than dx11. But every pc will be different. My specs, amd 5900x, Asus TUF 3080, 32gb 3600mhz ram, 1tb Sabrent pcie 4.0 m.2, 1440p 240hz Alienware 27" gaming monitor, Steelseries kb + mouse. I also use Nvidia Image Scaling, I run the game around 230fps because of it. And my power plan is the highest AMD power plan. I dont use my pc for much other than gaming, drivers are always updated. I almost uninstalled the game because of the crashes, but I can't remember the last time I crashed/froze/kicked to desktop.

Thank you. Tried your solution just now, and I played for about an hour without crashing or locking up. It's just asinine that companies (not just Ubi) introduce bugs that weren't there before, as a result of updates. It's so backwards if you think about it.

I have a new Div2 crash issue. Same as before...playing for a bit when the game crashes. The UI/app closes and the crash report dialog box is displayed. Fine, but then I try and restart Div2 and it won't start. I check the list of active processes and TheDivsion2.exe is still running. I try to end the task...ACCESS DENIED. Even taskkill won't stop it. And taskkill is clearly confused. It says... ERROR: The process "TheDivision2.exe" with PID 936 could not be terminated. Reason: There is no running instance of the task. If there is no instance, then how does it have a PID?

Hi Buzz, just a heads up on the D2-Fix, was getting the ''Mike-01'' error on both of my rigs, connection was fine on The Division/Breakpoint, not D2. Performed this fix and crossed fingers.......result, working without issue atm. Kudos

This issue was making me go bald trying to get it solved and nothing worked. Who would have thought that "easy anti cheat" was causing the issue. As you said was using all cores. Soon as I reduced it to one, as you said, have not had any issues as of yet. Thank you!

I just decided to revisit the game and was working fine for several hours last couple days till now but tried both methods in the video and it seems to be working. I say seems because I retraced my steps before watching the video to see if it would crash again and it did but now so far it's good.

worked for me as well! nice, one more addition - my game started in windowed mode for some reason (not the settings), had to hit alt+enter to full screen.. after changing game setting to my propper screen resolution (still in window) and after restart I changed game setting to full screen - all issues gone, no crushes, no window mode startup

Affinity just changes what cores/threads are available for a program. The program will generally be built to use a set number of cores, so you're not really improving resource availability much.

As soon as I changed the settings of EasyAntiCheat in set affinity to 1 cpu but Every time I close the game and restart it it changes back to all processors, is there a way to change once and have the setting be saved?

Hi just coming across your video came back to the game a Few days ago after a year break.. I had crash issues and going through the steps I got to the one where I Right click the Anti Cheat and there is no longer a SET affinity option. Is there another step for me to check this?

I came back to the game , and experiencing 10 fps on a 13900k and 4090 wtf. Thanks for the guide it used all of my 24 cores WTF. Now i can play as it should. Yhank you sooo much.

Anyone knows a fix for Delta-01 issue? Can't get into a game at all. I have contacted Ubi support but they won't reply. I have also tried all the fixes on the forums, uninstall and reinstall, reset all settings, changed internet settings. Nothing seems to work. Thank you for any info!

So here's an additional trick that worked for me : after doing everything described in this video, game stopped crashing but I still had constant freezes/stutters every few seconds so I tried as follows : during the game go to TASK MANAGER (CTRL + ALT + DELETE all together), there, in PROCESSES, look for The division 2 process, right click in it, then COMPATIBILITY and there, select Compatibility and change it to Windows 7 (by default Windows 8 is selected). In my case the game runs perfectly now, no crashes and no freezes anymore so maybe it can work for you too. By the way my system is Windows 10 Pro. Also if you still have problems again in the future, do the fix from the vid again because for me, when I did a files check of the game it downloaded directX again and the program settings explained in the first step had changed and I had to do it again; as for the anticheat trick it has to be done every time you start the game.

Was working fine for 2 days, now I just opened and says that the file is corrupted or virus hit ok, I'm running verify files and will leave it only with EasyAntiCheat on 1 core and see what happens after I delete the values on the Exploit protection list.

@LtBuzzLitebeer Please share this as well. I dug a little deeper into the reddit posts and found that just toggling off the system protection regarding control flow guard (CFG) for all three .exe division 2 files and disabling full screen optimizations for all three .exe files has solved my crashing issues on PC. No need to turn off all the exploit protections, just the CFG one. I was getting them constantly. Just played several hours, including countdown and no disconnects or crashes.

Just did these steps all except for that last part I was unable to do it maybe it’s do to me being on windows 11 pro but it worked for me haven’t crashed in days now thanks 🙏🏾

Lt Litebeer - I have been experiencing freezing screen issues since TU9. I also took advantage of the falling GPU prices and thought it might have been that. Evidently not, thank god. I followed your fix recommendations and checked recommended game settings for my GPU. These did not fix my issues. After stumbling across a Div2 community post dealing with the question of "what is the difference between Direct X 11 and 12", it was recommended to not use Direct X 12 since it has had crashing issues in the game. I reverted to 11 and (so far) have not had any freezing. I'm still testing so we shall see. Perhaps TU9 has a DX12 interface issue? Then again, it could be that this just works for me.

This may not work for everyone but I've been crashing like a crash test dummy this past week. Couldn't get through a single countdown session without crashing. It turns out that my settings were set to Windowed Fullscreen ( I usually have it on Fullscreen non-windowed). When I changed it back to Fullscreen the crashing stopped, though I did get a Delta-3 one time, which I think is on their end.
