The constant ship traffic and seismic activity definitely make a bridge a tough feat. Building a tunnel seems more feasible, especially with renewed talks between Spain and Morocco. Here's hoping they can overcome any political hurdles for this potential mega-project! In the meantime, ferries are a great way to experience this historic strait.

I think by now the technology has progressed far enough to be able to build suspension/floating tunnels and what not that can endure some seismic activity. this would in itself remove the problems that could potentially arise with surface maritime traffic since it would be underwater. there's a similar type of tunnel they're trying to build. I think it's in Norway. or the best option could be to just outsource the project to china, there's nothing they can't get their heads around. 👌

@@Viral_Picks_Store yeah, I believe the collaboration part would need some working, but considering China's extensive and advanced infrastructure, I have not much doubt in their ability to successfully carry out significant infrastructure projects. (and for a cheaper rate)

Biggest reason this won't happen is because there's basically nothing worthwhile in Northwestern Africa. It's an easy bridge to build if that part of the world had any economic relevance on the world stage. As it stands right now, for it to be worthwhile you'd need to build a railway from the bridge site, to the parts of Africa that matter, and such a railway going through an area like the Sahara and the Shahel would not be economical, nor would it be safe from bandits.

while it is true that there's a lot of dry desert land in northwest africa, i think the primary reasons behind not building the bridge is mainly its feasibility, economic benefits and also immigration problems, which could be controlled (to some extent).

Yeah, let's all pretend that the EU wants that bridge to be built. Last thing they need is more Africans/Arabs pouring into their countries. I highly doubt Spain would ever let that happen...

@@AshayaDhungana10 Frankly I can't see how this might be profitable. Moroccans need a Visa to travel to Schengen Areas and I assume most of the people who actually manage to get a visa (It's much harder to acquire now) would opt for a different European country (i.e: France, Netherlands, Germany) and it's far easier (and probably cheaper) to fly there. And I can't imagine many Spaniards traveling to Morocco for tourism while their own country is one of the leading tourist destinations on the planet.

@@berkovl7226 I partly agree with your point about tourism; it's a two-way process. Africa's wealth lies in resources like oil, copper, cotton, coffee, and sugar. The bridge might aid exports, but currently, transport isn't severely limited since larger boats likely handle it across the 8-mile stretch. There's definitely a need for a thorough study on the bridge's benefits.
