Surprisingly, I have to admit that this old 1999 W202 Mercedes Benz C-Class has been the single best car I've bought. For everything it is and for everything it is worth, this classic german automobile has been brilliant and here's why.

The w202 is the best generation of C class. My 98 c230 had over 250k miles when I sold it to a guy who I believe still drives it. Fixed a missfire around 210k and beat the hell out of it everyday since without a singe issue. Thing was a little tank.

Love the W202's. Lowered looks cool but slammed is an acquired taste. A nice set of staggered AMG 17" or 18" Monoblocks looks the best.

Had the elegance c200 for my first car, same exact colour, was such a beautiful car! Temped to buy another one and do a flat 6 turbo setup, so nice - just needs more power haha

Great to see someone showing love for the w202. I got one layed up at home in the uk, a c240 absolutely love that thing. When I go back im really keen on getting it back on the road and bagging it.

I still daily a 1997 C280 in the same color, only major issue I've had were the wiring harness coatings rotting away. I put 17" AMG wheels from a CLK430 and a C36 bumpers kit

So true about the paint. My black C180 compressor is immaculate for a 2007 model. It’s beautiful to drive & has 126K in the clock

Just bought a smoke silver 1996 C220 Classic with a 4 speed auto. I already fell in love with that car. The cheapest classic Mercedes model on the market but sitting behind the wheel it still feels like a cool stately cruiser.

yea it very great car i have same car but 95 metalic green, just hoping that 5 speed auto but it came 96 for some cars and 97 for all c models. Had it for 2 years now :D

Great model specially 99 w202 ,, best fuel average heavy suspension and stable drive,, most reliable car ever easy to maintain ,, Best c class ever ,, although I have still two car ,, I will never sell ,, its been long time,, keeping this Mercedes gives you a pleasure of e class ,,

I own a 97 C280 all leather with books. Love it! Might have blown the motor lol! She is the nicest feeling ride I have ever had and I owned an old school Lincoln. A future bagger for me and the family to work on and show here at The Heat Wave in ATX.

I had one of these over a decade ago and yes, such a cruisey quiet Sedan ( easy on Gas ). Well, very rarely you'd hear guard rub when slammed rolling on 20s 😆 I'm currently looking for a Benz c180 wagon as a cruiser now and fml those are proving hard to find for Sale

I’ve got a 99 c240 and is still going hard 3 years later but yeah I agree with the misfire issues very common so I’d suggest keep and eye on your coils and spark plugs

I had a 1999 W202 C200 Sport in the black green metallic. Very reliable and economical car. The drive was so stable on the road-ate up the highway km's. The seats were cloth sport edition-most uncomfortable seats I've ever had to this day. This had the carbon fibre interior, the AMG style dash white instrumentation, sunroof, lowered suspension, sport alloys. Regret selling it-my brother still has his with the leather seats. He uses as it as his beater-probably the only lowered W202 Sport C200 with roof racks haha in the world.

Nice one! I have a 99’ W210 E430 on amg wheels and love it over my expensive cars. Everything you mentioned is spot on, Build quality, seat back, sunroof open, all comfort and nothing stresses me behind the wheel 😎 Had it for almost 4 years and no issues but has a full service history and looked after since new and that’s needed for a German. A lot of people skip servicing and maintenance after they have been in the hands of a few owners and wonder why they have issues. just need to bag it like your c class, German + bagged VIP style🔥

I sure do enjoy having the inline 6 engine in the 1997 c280, especially with the dual cooling fans (fan with clutch & radiator fans) only thing it can be hard when working on the front due to how cramped it can be

would like to see you tune transmission and upgrade pullies...really great car. yes, it is low powered (for comfort) but great car, yet it is well sorted. there are choice mods simple yet effective. allowing for more throttle response and stronger boost. would like to see you tune transmission and upgrade pullies. really great DD mate. spent the beans to refresh a w204 c250 cgi with handling pkg. its not about the power numbers but the power throughout the powertrain.

The top of the range was a C55 AMG they are very rare, The C43 and C36 they made in higher numbers.

W202s are awesome , my 1st car was a 00' C230 Kompressor with less than 100k miles. It was such a fun car and I regret ever getting rid of it.

Man I have a w202 C250 Turbo Diesel 6 speed Manual since I own the car I only needed to change Oil , New Tires and Gas nothing more really good reliable car and amazing to drive and you can go chilling on 110 mph. Im considering to put some bags to or leave it Original I dont know.

Lol same man, silver on blue, its a piece of ass in electricals, i replaced all the engine wiring, but the mechanic wasn't the best so its running rich

I own a C200 5 gears manual of 1999 and it has 300000 km on it and it runs perfectly fine, and almost no problems at all, it is good on fuel (5 l/100 in highway) its very calm, predictable and reliable, and VERY comfortable for the year it is. Petrol ones does not last as long as diesel ones, are not that good on fuel and they are not more comfortable inside. Soo for daily I suggest you diesel.

They are no more expensive than any other brand, parts are always available and there are plenty of aftermarket companies who do non genuine parts. Any garage will service a Mercedes. I use a independent garage at £40 plus VAT per hour and a service is usually £125.00 or £200.00

I own a W202 but I think that the W204 are a far nicer car now that they are affordable with prices starting from around £2500 in the UK. The W204 still has that traditional Mercedes look to it
