I can remember live streaming Isolation and attempted the one shot challenge, only to get killed towards the late game. Absolutely gutted. Best run I ever had.

Looking back at the stream where it happened, I absolutely deserved getting killed. Completely fumbled the moment, due to wanting the achievement for not killing any humans but also trying to get one shot as well.

Bruh I was doing the one life no saves mode on the dead space remake and when I go to that one boss fight outside the ship my game lagged for a sec and I got teleported to a pitch black room with nothing but a tiny square for me to stand on. No saves. Run ended. Nearly uninstalled.

To be fair, Snam is being paid to do this kind of thing, while you aren't. Also, Snam has chat to keep him entertained and motivated during the grind. You probably don't, unless you are also a streamer and I've just never heard of you, which is possible.

The motion tracker actually still works. Its just heavily distorted. It will create many false blips that obscure the active blips. The way to tell them apart is that the active blips will have a consistent movement pattern to them. So while the tracker is "broken" its still usable

Here's the thing: I'm too paranoid and stupid to look at this thing and try and figure out whether or not one of those glitchy blips is actually fake or the Alien about to tear my legs off and beat me to death with them. I'll personally stick to not using it on Nightmare difficulty. That is interesting to know though.

@@SnailHatanAI, or artificial intelligence, is any line of code or design where it can "think", or make decisions for itself based on a preset list of decisions and answers. AI isn't just what we've seen recently, with OpenAI and ChatGPT, but old AI, where they have databoxes of stored information that they can access to make decisions, like the AI in old CoD games, the enemies had to know where the obstacles and cover locations are, as well as the player, so they could make decisions of where to get in cover and where to shoot to hit the player. So, yes, there is AI in this game, because the alien can "think" for itself, without outside intrusion or additions.

My headcanon as to the lore explenation for the allien's behaviour is that it tracks you by smell. It can't pinpoint your exact location but it can follow your scent trail which ensures it's usually nearby. Sometimes it decides that you must have left the area so it goes to look elswhere, but once it realizes the scent trail is weaker it comes back to near you. Other times it tries to fake you out by pretending to go away, hoping to catch you crawling out of hiding when it doubles back.

Without having been there for the runs, I keep finding myself forgetting that you aren't just restarting the mission here after these short, wonky, or bullshit deaths, YOURE RESTARTING THE WHOLE GAME, and that involves having to get past every other roll of the dice you mentioned before. The ship you wake up on in the beginning is in fact the Torrens, and is the same ship you attempt to contact theoughout the game and return to at the end. The Aneisadora is the ship belogning to Marlow and his salvage team, that found the Nostromo flight recorder and then found the crashed alien ship

I've actually seen a large number of players say that they surprisingly find Hard to be more challenging than Nightmare, because the Alien's aggressiveness on Nightmare is jacked up to such high levels that he's actually more predictable if you're able to keep a cool head and not panic (which definitely isn't me, lol) because he's almost always no more than a room or two away. On Hard difficulty, the Alien is still super aggressive, but he's _just_ perfectly tame enough still to keep a large element of unpredictability and uncertainty to his hunting.

It is a great game and I loved playing it but it was *crammed* full of bugs - some of them game-breaking and many of them immersion-breaking. Still thought this game deserved a sequel back when I beat it when it came out. I wouldn't trust any other developers with making a sequel though.

@@SegmentW I beat it for the first time last year, and I only had one bug that could only be fixed by restarting the chapter. Other than that, it went pretty smoothly, though maybe that's because of patches. But yeah, I get you. I want a sequel, but I have no faith that someone competent enough will be brought in to make it.

Through months of perfecting every small detail of the game, memorization, timing, execution, and still being able to improvise in tight situations when everything inevitably goes wrong, the runs become a true ballet of beauty. You start making it to the late game more often, all the while the game not getting any easier, but rather you become better and better at narrowly avoiding death at every turn. Even then, no mission is ever guaranteed, which is actually wild. The late game deaths hurt more and more as you feel "so close, but yet so far away", and are set back hours and hours just to die earlier in the game a couple times, not making it back to your PB for possibly several more grueling runs. The game is unrelentingly difficult, even when you know it like the back of your hand. I love how you felt so at peace when you finally beat it! You earned it. Congratulations Sir Snam. Truly, congratulations.

Loved the editing in this video. It's subtle, but really ties everything together and compliments the narrative perfectly. That transition at 1:42 was _smooth_ - it feels super dynamic and puts us right into the action, making us feel engaged in the story from the very beginning. And the story telling slapped too! It had great build up, some really funny and fascinating twists and an *awesome* pay off. Everything from 38:57 onward had me on the edge of my seat! You can tell how much care and effort went into this video, and how proud you are of this run (as you should be). Definitely my favorite one on the channel so far.

7 months of attempting this is absolutely insane! The longest I ever spent on an achievement was about 2 months for Pantheon 5 in HK. You have inspired me to pick up this game though. I'll start on Hard and see from there if I'm up for this torture.

I usually play normal mode first on any game, but I jumped right into hard mode on this one. I think it was the best choice because it made the experience more tense when the alien or the androids were near, (which is what I like in a game like this) and it was totally doable.

@@Snamwiches I always like hearing Super Mario Galaxy themes. Makes my brain go back to those happy(/ier) childhood times, and the use at the end of the video was... quite fitting, I dare say. I don't remember if I ever did this challenge legit. I was honestly even surprised(and felt quite accomplished) at me pulling off a no-deaths run on mission 5 alone without just running through the whole thing... while not knowing that there was an achievement for it until it popped up. (KZfaq randomly recommended this one to me. Very glad it did though. Kind of makes me want to finally go back and finish the run I started and never got done, at the start of mission 6, when I got my new beefy PC.)

Damn man, this is hella impressive. I remember being super stoked that I got the achievement for beating Chapter 5 without getting killed by the Alien completely on accident, but this is another level. A challenge that demands near literal perfection is perhaps quite fitting for a creature so terrifying, it became known as 'The Perfect Organism". Congratulations!

I was born in 1980. I used to watch films on VHS at my friends when i was young. The thing, aliens, you name it. Aliens was the only film to scare me and i watch literal horror films like freddy kreuger. I would laugh at horror films as a kid. But aliens scared me and I liked that. Only film to ever scare me. My brother bought me this game full price on steam. Knowing full well this story and to this day I have never installed it. XD

I have watched this multiple times by now since I just love it so much. But every time I remember that something at the beginning is weird and it's you calling the Torrens as Anesadora, Anesidora? Whichever it was. 😂 No doubt it has been pointed out multiple times already. The demonstrations of differences between difficulties were some of my favorite bits, and Axel of course. Either way, absolutely love it and the vods were a joy to watch too! Thank you for playing this!

@@SleekHeroo Yeah, I remember it being that there's short-range eyes in the back of its head, and if you touch its tail, you'll be in its line of sight before it even turns around. I don't remember if there is actual nerve sensors in the tail though.

More or less, there are save points throughout the game. And if you miss one, you risk going back like 2 hours if you die. And there is no automatic save, only at these points (they are those phone booths)

You restarted THE WHOLE GAME after each attempt? Noooo don't do that! Learn the levels and start putting it together after you're relatively consistent with them. This way you're great at walking in your undies (not hard) and bad at the actually hard parts in the end (very hard!)

Alien Isolation is probably the first game I remember that had me going "oh. I want to play this." so seeing this video is absolutely amazing. I remember playing this shortly after release on the PS4, 14 year old me took six months to beat on novice because I'd get too scared and hide under a table for 30 minutes straight. Now I have every achievement and have beaten every bit of DLC! Definitely going to have to try this for myself, easily my favorite horror game of all time. It was super fun seeing you use strats used by speed runners! Super funny and amazing video. God knows I wouldn't have been able to make it through under all that stress
