In the North East white pine is used a lot to make some really nice looking furniture. It's soft but dings gives character to the piece. I made my fireplace mantle with it, stained it golden oak and it looks great. I like your new mill, seems to me you're having a blast with it☺.

Hope you are getting used to the new mill. I like the drag back feature on my Cooks AC-36. I've cut as many as 3 6" cants then stacked them side by side, cutting 3 boards in 1 pass. Then drag them back with the drag back fingers. I then set up and start the next cut. While it's cutting I can sticker and stack the 3 boards I just cut. Truly a 1 man operation.

Here is something to think about, were you have the header for your log loading area you might want to put the rolled up type door there and limonite the rest of the siding in that area , that way you’ll have more head room to load logs and remove finish projects out that door. Also when it becomes winter time you could even close it and keep the cold out and the heat in
@johnolson4135
@johnolson4135 5 жыл бұрын
Don Latimer wouldn’t the venting of the diesel exhaust also get rid of heat in the winter. Confined space isn’t safe, running a huge Diesel engine like he has.

Great Show Nathan, Wood coming off your saw is just a barrel of fun. Sure the walnut is amazing but all woods have their beauty no matter how simple the grain might be. I've worked in wood many years and there is beauty in old aged pine. They all have their smells and grains and beauty. And you make that saw a star and you bring light to it all. Blessings to You and your Family! Thanks Much for your work, this vid and good music! DaveyJO in Pa.

Cats, Music and Saw milling. Can't be all bad lol! I love white pine and use it a lot for building things and trim work. Great utilitarian wood since it is affordable. But it also has a beauty all it's own. Of course the walnut is always gorgeous but a bit expensive for a lot of uses so I usually use white pine. Love your videos!

My great room high ceiling and trim is all done in knotty white pine nobody wanted. Not sure why. Got it from a sawmill in Blueridge for 12 cents a foot. Now everyone thinks it's beautiful. I think white pine is an underrated wood. It really pops once it's sanded and finished. Lots of figure and color variation in mine.

I have a soft spot for white pine. Here in Northern Michigan our white pine built the Midwest. We butchered many pristine areas. One of my favorite spots up north I call the bone yard. Stumps of white pine from first cuttings in the 1870’s. 5-6’ diameter.

While White Pine does not have the stunning colors and patterns of Walnut, Cherry, Chestnut and other hardwood trees, that slab at the 9:40 mark sure had some pretty grain pattern showing and would make for a very nice top to a side table or country style kitchen table.

I have run a LT40 with the accuset for a while. It certainly is a great addition to the mill. If you get used to using the presets and board up and down along with pattern mode you can really get the most out of the logs. If you had wanted to you probably could have gotten a few boards above your two 6 inch cants.

Purdy paneling. Also purdy music at the end. I wish I could or would learn to edit videos. The few I have I try to do it all in one cut and when watching them back I say "ah , um"' 20,gazillion times. Man if you had a belt conveyor with something to divert the slabs into their own pile and boards to be ran into a truck , trailer , or just in a pile. I have an old manual LumberMate by Norwood that I've been going to build a belted conveyor for years for ,but just haven't done it yet. 👍👍👍👍👍

Appreciate seeing lumber operation, but seems like there could be some dynamite slabs, or at least full-width 1" boards. Those crotches and knots could dress up many a project. No market for pine slabs or wide lumber? My mother's house was all knotty pine, including the Kitchen cupboards, and none of it painted, none stained dark. Sure looked good and she got lots of complements. Not sure what the clear-coat was, but it seemed to bring out the best of the grain pattern.

I have to admit, I am quite envious to see you doing something that you clearly have a passion for I would love a setup like yours but it’s just not done here in the U.K. for some reason. The closest thing I have to your setup is my cat, she is almost identical to yours! Anyway love your videos and I look forward to seeing what the new mill can do.
