I've visited dozens of indigenous tribes around the world, but no experience has been quite like this one, on the tri-country border of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. My wife, Deanna, and I spent 2 days driving on long dirt roads to meet the Vadoma tribe, who are the only humans on earth that genetically have 2 toes on each foot.
I came here to find out their story, spread awareness about their struggles and learn what life would be like with this shocking condition. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below - have you ever heard of the Vadoma tribe? What do you think about their feet?

@@eswarjuri No, Zambians don't think they're at war. Like I said in my previous comment, it's minor disagreements over water management. All countries that share a border along a major river both sides rely on will have disputes. @@jdos5643 Having a gene pool without diversity leads to deformities like this. Most small communities all around the world struggle with keeping the gene pool diverse and as a result have a much higher rate of defects like this. This is also why royalty (which practice incest/family intermixing) had so many deformities.

@@jdos5643 Not necessarily. Most communities that are small and distant from other areas just don't have the travel of persons in and out to encourage more diverse meetings. @@G33K01345 It's sad you had to explain that to someone. When you see common deformities like this it's always these small tribes in the middle of nowhere, where everyone is at least distantly related. Almost everyone has that gene that creates the deformity. You see this problem with small tribes in Tanzania where Albinism is common.

As someone who was trained to work in physical therapy. It is very important to think about what you are saying. Saying "normal" toes vs theirs with two, when you were repeatedly corrected as it being a "gift" and that they are "special", you should have picked up on that and at least used the term "different" or "special". We were trained to say "new knees" "new hips" ect and didn't shy away from saying "stumps" when talking with patients who had amputations. I do admire that you visited and brought a bounty to share with the people. Bringing light to this tribe and smiles to their faces. All of us, no matter our differences are fearfully and wonderfully made by our creator. May God bless you and yours on your journeys, sharing other people, cultures and lands with your viewers. I'm always amazed and look forward to your content and experiences.

Hi Drew, I enjoy a lot of your stuff. I am just wondering if your I “I found” an “I discovered” kind of story? These people are not a “secret tribe”. They are Zimbabweans, just like me. Every human being has secrets. If they’re a secret tribe as you claim, how and why did you publicize them?

As a Zimbabwean, I was surprised to learn about this tribe from this documentary. It's important for people to be aware of these lesser-known groups and ensure their history is preserved. Even though I lived in Zimbabwe most of my life, I never heard of them before. This is a great reminder that there's always more to learn about our own cultures. On behalf of Zimbabwe thank you Drew!!!...

As I was near the last few seconds of the video, I was thinking about commenting, "can we get that child a bike??" Then, true to form, Mr. Drew came through and didn't let that go unnoticed. Respect. God bless these people, their beautiful tribe that is full of years and generations of strength, uniqueness, and what seems like love.

Zimbabwe needs a president who cares about all the people, especially the tribe in this video and other tribes. Robert Mugabe didn't seem to care about them, and neither did the guy who succeeded him.

Part of going on your own in third world countries..... you're going to be overcharged, pay fees that don't exist and be asked for more money, gifts etc... that's why most people either don't go there or they go on an organized tour of a trustworthy company.. who's familiar with the country and customs.
