Trust me my friend, I have been on an anime binge watch for the past couple of months, and I have seen shows both good and bad, ranging from the greatness of Higehiro, the terrifying yet surprisingly awesome Redo of Healer, the pretty good My first girlfriend is a gal, my first girlfriend is a shobitch, and Hensuki, the decent stuff like Campione, My Domestic girlfriend, and Bento (the first two were alright, but the endings upset me so I actually looked up fanfictions for both of them that solved both endings and they were literally the first search result on fanfiction.net), and the terrible stuff like Eiken, Kiss x Sis(I mean the watch order is very confusing with 12 TV episodes and 12 OVA episodes being all mixed together, but if you watch just the tv episodes, it honestly isn't the worst anime ever), My sister my writer, and Pupa, which is in my opinion, the absolute WORST anime ever made!! Hell, I even watched stuff like Yosuga no Sora and Akisora, which are not exactly the easiest to watch. Honestly, Rent a Girlfriend was the most frustrating of the TWENTY DIFFERENT SERIES I HAVE BEEN WATCHING, not because of the concept, but because there is so, so, SO much idiocy regarding Kazuya that I was facepalming at most of his decisions so much that I almost gave myself a head trauma! Is the show well animated? Yes. Is the premise unique and different enough to stand on its own in terms of plot? Yes. Does it have unique and interesting characters that don't just blend together? Yes. Does it also have the most indecisive and aggravating main character to watch since Makoto Itou of School Days infamy? ALSO YES!!! In case you think I am being unfair, I watched every episode of both shows , so I know what I mean when it comes to aggravating, even though Makoto is far worse in terms of morality, but you can clearly see some connections in idiocy with their decisions. I remember describing this anime to one of my friends because he was genuinely worried at the title alone (thought it was about prostitution but thankfully not), and I spent so long describing the mistakes that occurred in only the first half of the show, and I was already in tears on the floor laughing at how stupid it was that Kazuya made all of these situations worse almost every time. In short, do watch the series if you can. You will for sure get a laugh out of it, and the characters and premise are memorable at least (you will hate Mami Nanamiwith a burning passion for sure), plus the dub is honestly amazing. I won't spoil anything else for you about the plot, but please do consider watching it and judge it for yourself if you want.
