I agree that music is one of the great joys of my life. But to get the most from it I think you have to be able to sing or play an instrument. Then you get it on a much deeper level.

@Frances 🤣. Isn't that such a mystery? My cousin is the same way. She took private piano lessons beginning at 7yo. It wasn't until she was 10yo that anyone, including her teacher, caught on to the fact that she couldn't read music. (That little stinker!...right?) Anyway, HER skill was way above average, too..(😳🤯🧐???). She didn't pursue it. She switched to vocals in high school & won first place the vast majority of contests...even ones that had thousands of contestants. Shes 38now. All thru adulthood-I can't count the times she's sang in public venues and INEVITABLY, even complete strangers, are BAWLING at the sound of her voice... even the most masculine, burly loggers & construction workers & such uncontrollably WEEP within the first 10secs she begins to sing. These "bruts" (haha) usually walk (or run) out of the venue bc...well, you know.. soft underbellys must be concealed at all costs in small, conservative, PNW communities such as ours! Lol. Anyway...you guessed it- Shes' never had even ONE vocal lesson in her life! What more proof that God appoints specific gifts for specific ppl!! Nothing else makes sense. PS: She's been pursued by all kinds of major recording outfits, and also AGT, but she says she wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much as if it became her business/ occupation. (And it IS a business). So she's a midwife🥰..as God intended. I don't mean to make it about me/mine, I just really relate (via my cousin, that is).🤗God Bless.

Growing up, my dad would often play the piano at night to unwind and relax. I have lots of memories going to sleep with him playing in the background. There was always something reassuring about hearing the music, probably because I knew it made him happy and therefore signaled that all was right and tight in my little world. Fast forward 40 years. He's 80 and I'm 48. He doesn't play nearly as often, but when I was visiting them this Christmas he did one evening and damned if it didn't make me feel just as safe, all these years later. You're giving your child a wonderful gift.

My grandfather played. I always loved it. When we moved far apart he would calll me and not say anything for 10 minutes or so. He would just play. Even as I type this my eyes fill with tears. I miss him and my Gramma more than anything. I am 76 now. But I can’t get over losing them….💔

Absolutely beautiful piano!! But above all Daddy is introducing his daughter to music!! Introducing babies and children to art and music has been proven to enhance their learning social skills and so much more...I have a 10 yr old gdaughter who we've been showing musics and art since birth so far in 13 different languages..but I'm a huge Vivaldi fan..seem's I played it one to many times in the car 🤣 then a voice of a 6 yr old 'o no not again' ! 🤣 She is a Tchaikovsky fan...o well it's all good 😁😁😁😁💝

Your right. For some reason when I was about that age, I danced to a popular song of the day, "Tico, tico." It had a Latin beat. That's the only song I remember dancing to.

One of my earliest memories was from a time when I was at one of our local laundromats, and I remember hearing a song playing with the walking bass boogie woogie piano. I was probably no older than five years of age if that. This was back in the mid-1960s. I also recall thinking it was WAY COOL, and still do!!!

My boys grew up with my husband playing the drums, sax or guitar around them. Or when his friends come over to jam or practice for a party. Now they all play multiple instruments. They started young. I guess you could say we have our own band.

That litle girl is me, 65 years ago, and that's my uncle John playing the boogie-woogie. He and his brother, Robert, were in the Marines. My dad was in the Air Force, and when he was stationed far away, my mom would take us to live with her parents. When John was home on leave, he would spend a lot of time playing the piano. Those boogie-woogie beats are one of my earliest, and best, memories. I'm so glad this little girl will have this in her life.

She is totally adorable. At 1:00 into the video, I can see the finger stretch across the keys. In four or five years, she's going to be playing Boogie Woogie, too. Growing up my dad could play accordion, keyboards and guitar all by ear. He could not read a note of music but he was good, very, very good. A local music store wanted him to play in there to sell instruments. I think I took for granted all the wonderful music we enjoyed in our home. Miss those days!

We had an upright piano in our house when I was growing up; just like yours. We were always begging mom to play some boogie woogie. That was in the early 1950's. I'm 74 now. What great memories your playing brings back.

She seems to be interested to music, if you haven't done yet, buy her a little toy keyboard so she can play whenever she wants, and then in next years teach her all you know about music. If she starts now, when she grows up she will be a fantastic musician and you will be very proud of what you've done.
