It was mid-October, 2018 and things were looking gloomy on Lawrence Michalchuk’s property in Bella Coola, British Columbia, Canada. Michalchuk and his wife had just returned from a weeklong trip. They had been eager to see and embrace their children, to tell them all about their trip and relish in some quality family time. But there was bad news to be shared, first. Michalchuk’s in-laws, who had spent the week taking care of the kids, told the couple about a family of grizzlies who had decided to make a home out of Michalchuk’s yard. A sow and her three cubs had been wreaking havoc on the property. The bears would come daily, attracted by the various fruit trees on the property. They would climb the trees, eat the fruit, they would dig holes looking for roots and they would leave scat all over the yard.

Any bears even look at my kids will be carpets. Btw those bears are there for a reason. When you see there are missing people it's because these bears are killing and eating them. Anyone who gets near a bear with no dogs or sidearm is one dumb sonofabi*ch . Because of ignorant bleeding heart liberals these bears numbers have exploded. Maybe if a liberal seen a bear kill and eat their friend or family member they would change their minds. Here's some advice. Get a 500 smith &Wesson, and bear spray. Btw even humans still assault people after being hit with this crap that doesnt work. But yeah, get some akitas into the picture. Not the cheap stupid half breeds either. It is unethical to breed these dogs with other dogs. But two akitas will send a bear running for his life. There is a story about a village in Japan. That took place a long time ago, where a giant bear killed most of a small village. Ate women, children. Even while most of the men were out hunting it. By the time they got good dogs there the few people left abandoned the village. We cant let animals numbers explode like this. Their should be bountys put on them. Or put an open season on them. If they even tried to hurt my family the buzzards would eat well. We know that the government or someone is also planting , bears, coyotes, and mountain lions, and possibly wolves where I live. They have admitted it. Our ancestors kept these things numbers in check, or you wouldnt have any food to eat. It's hard enough just trying to keep raccoons from killing our cats and eating them. And possums from killing kittens , small cats and chickens. I personally witnessed a raccoon jump out of a small apple tree onto a rabbit, and carry it off. They will tear a human up also. If you make the mistake of walking to your trash can at night and run into a raccoon. You risk getting tore the hell up by these things. I have heard of large raccoon dogs going to the vet for stitches from these monsters. A couple years ago a 200 lb man was attacked by a coyote? And knocked down and the rest of them were coming! It tore holes through carhart pants. One would think our government is trying to kill us off. And mountain lions usually attack from the back to paralyze their victim, before eating them alive I have read two horrible attack stories where women had their faces tore off.. These are wild animals. They live by the law of the jungle, anything is food when their hungry. When you see them running at a kids bike on a trail just about intercepting him, you know that animal has done that before. Even taking a damn good akita or two following your bike is a good idea. They are a very powerful dog. Their bite force can ward off a bear, in fact I have heard of one of them killing two pitbulls before. The akitas double layers of fur gives them an advantage, plus their part tosa. Mine weighed 200 lbs. The only way I can describe one of these things pissed, is like seeing a 200 lb wolverine mad.

I've been the chief conservation officer with the Crescent Ridge Dawn Redwoods Preserve since 1995, and these do-gooders aggravate the crap out of me. These are not teddy bears! They are aggressive animals that will kill you and not think twice about it. I have personally used a firearm to protect myself three times in my life, and two of the three involved animals; namely dogs. My sidearm is a .44 mag Colt Anaconda because we had a resident black bear named Sheba for a while. She was never hostile, but she would sit just inside the woods and watch me, which creeped me out. The only reason we are the apex predator on this planet is because of Sam Colt. Without guns to protect ourselves, we are pretty close to the bottom of the food chain. Maybe if these guy's critics lost a limb to a bear or a croc, they might think differently.

I watched a buddy of mine get his ass kicked by a polar bear. We were working on a drilling rig in the high Arctic. Sitting on 30 feet of ice. 2000 feet of ocean below. The grabbed Gary as he exited the main door. As we were all leaving for the night shift. The forklift operator saved him. By ramming the bear. Gary grabbed the fork and was pulled to safely. Then the guns showed up. Killing both mother and cub. This was in the eighties. I still hear the screaming at times. He was so ripped up. Sitting on the bench smoking a cigarette a sipping a coffee. The C130 landed a took my bud to Edmonton Alberta. I remember seeing his picture full on the cover of our news paper. He was given the teeth from the bear. I often wonder who got the hide.

This is not license for greedy men to dump sewage or create power sources that pollute or plastic for convenience. And all the wildlife preservation being done for the sake of preserving each specie is bogus. No extinction of any animal ended the earth. In the 1960s, I lived in Bella Coola as a child, and had a friend who lived next door, she told me that a brown bear was in their back yard and it was getting into their garbage cans, she banged on her bedroom window to try to make it leave and it did what she did not expect, it came right up to her window put it's nose on the window and growled a real nasty growl, she got scared and left her room, to tell her parents what happened, and went out with her family, when they got back the bear had smashed her bedroom window came right into her room, and totally demolished her it looking for her, the bedroom door was closed fortunately or it would have got into the rest of the house, but it tore up her bed, and destroyed her dresser and closet doors all her cloths were torn to pieces and her bed was ripped to pieces, springs and stuffing pillow feathers all over ( thats when still allot of pillows were stuffed with feathers ) her parents had to totally renovate her room and close in the gap that was her window and make a wall where her window had been, after that she slept upstairs with her sister for a very long time too scared to sleep alone in her own room, I was always scared to go outside at night in Bella Coola our back yard opened out to the wilderness, no fences or walls, fter the clearing it was all bush, I was too scared of the bears and wolves, which I heard howling in the forest at night in winter, there was also a cougar that killed a little girl and as well it stalked me as i walked to school, but i was rescue by a neighbour. so after so many bad experiences living there we moved to live with relatives in Vancouver, i never wanted to live near the forest again, I wanted to live in town as far from a forest as possible for a long time, I didn't care it I ever saw another wilderness except at the movies, as long as i lived, I was and still am nervous of walking in the woods, Us children along with our neighbour children, had an encounter with a silver back grizz. while waiting at the bus stop when i was in grade 3 we ran screaming " BEAR!!" to my friend's house, her dad ran out with his shot gun in hand and ran after the bear as it was heading off into the woods, he thought by the way I screamed that i couldn't find my little brother, that it had got one of us kids, he was swearing and cursing as he took off after it, till we saw my brother peeking out from behind a tree in our driveway, we called him back and he came back relieved, just then the bus arrived and we all went to school still shaking but with a story to tell.

Bella Coola, BC has more grizzlies per person than most places. This man took exactly the right action to defend himself, his family, and his dog. He used a humane method to decondition these bears from not fearing humans. It is especially important to strongly discourage habituated sows because they teach their cubs not to fear humans. When a bear attacks a human and predates the cubs will too and all have to be shot. The only thing i see Michael do carelessly is to get too far from the house. Bears run 35 mph and any human cannot outrun them. Any person right or left politically who thinks shooting a charging bear is the wrong thing to do while they sit on a couch watching Animal Planet better stay there because they know nothing about bears.

I am familiar with this story and am glad he lived because it was just dumb luck. I hunt for food, but bears are the only animal I hunt for sport and food because they hunt you in return. I aim for the shoulder most of the time because the shot passes through the vitals in the top of the chest but also disables them. When you have been charged as many times as I have you understand that the broadside chest shot is not the best shot to take. And a charging bear is fast, so you aim for the central mass of head and shoulders as they face forward running your direction. Him shooting from hip and aiming at the leg is a bit inhonest.
