@@missam3404 For the same reasons they taught us white kids about Washington or Jefferson. We sure as hell didn't care about any old farts. But it was shoved down our throats as part of _American history_ . Like it or not, blacks are part of American history, even if most bigots don't want to acknowledge it.

You know, this happened with a Mexicano friend of mine years ago! He told me that he was a part of a Latino Skinhead gang until his grandmother told him that his great grandfather was black African! That's how we became friends! When we first met, I noticed something about him (and he did the same about me)!

One of my paternal great, great, great grandfathers, was a Black Hispanic from Mexico. He crossed the border to fight with the Union army to help free the slaves, including a Black woman he was in love with, my great, great great grandmother.

The state my family is from in Mexico is named after him. So its such a shame to see colorism in Mexico at all. Unfortunately they don’t place much stock it public schools to teach these things.

We owe him, “Father, forgive me, the country is first.” After Vicente Guerrero refused to give up the last standing military post knowing his father would be executed. His words inshrine in the Mexican National Palace. In Mexico he used taught, loved and admired as well as the other Fathers of Mexican Independence

You may be interested to know there is more to the story. Be sure to investigate the history of the "United States" from around the 16th Century through the 18th Century. Your local library may have America's Untold Story on DVD.

First part black president of Mexico is why you won’t hear about him in the US. The disgusting thing is there are some of those in higher society that want to try to quiet that Mexicans have a very rich history of acceptance.

The fact that the Haitians helped Mexico to beat the French I still appreciated today in Mexican cities like juarez. That's why Haitians are treated so well as they passed through on their journey to immigrate to the US

This is true. I asked my 89 year old Mexican dad and he said "of course he was black, what's the big deal?". Mexico isn't a racist country. Mexico is definitely a classist country though.

I think it's important to mention that Iturbide, a white man, was sent to defeat Guerrero, but when they sat down to negotiate they became friends and overthrew the Spanish government together. Iturbide took power, briefly becoming emperor, but he also abolished the caste system which gave people rights based on the purity of their blood

In Mexico they teach history through school and books, not movies. There’s not many historical dramas at all made in Mexico, and the film industry there has had a huge decline over the decades in terms of production funds. This would cost a lot of money to make.

​@@oforimensah4711 In English? I don't think I know of any. He's a well known figure in Mexican history. Every year when we do "El grito de independencia" Vicente Guerrero is honored the president and the people. It's avery large and important event.

General Juan N. Alvarez was also a Black Mexican president hero of México, he fought in our war of independence besides the Generalisimo Morelos , was gobernor odf the state of Guerrero and was the one who got rid of Dictator Santana..he was interine president oxf Mexico in 1855, retired home only to fight back again against the french and Maximilian's empire..he ritired after the war to his hacienda in the south of México and died peacefully in 1867..🎉❤😊

You are wrong! In Hispanic America, criollo is a term used originally to describe people of full Spanish descent born in the viceroyalties. (Spaniards, from Spain, but lived in Mexico, or anywhere they conquered), basically lived abroad.

Slavery was never abolished in America. Its in the 13TH Amendment to use as punishment for crime.

Esa información la recibí en la Primaria y Secundaria Pública en México...en México la población de color es pequeña y se ubica en pequeñas zonas solamente, unas de las cuales se ubican en las costas de Guerrero y Oaxaca, así como en Veracruz...aunque es muy, muy raro, que veamos gente de color mexicana, es más factible encontrarnos con gente de color extranjera, principalmente afroamericanos...y más recientemente vemos haitianos, hondureños, colombianos, cubanos o ecuatorianos, pero en tránsito a USA...
