You can do it, Bethany! I believe in you. A couple takeaways you mentioned that I want to highlight: One, every book is different. So true, I've realised that every book I write is a different process, a different journey; basically a different method of getting the story out of me and onto the pages. Writers really are modern day magicians; we weave a story out of thin air, create characters and settings where there were none before, entire worlds, entire histories, all fake. Writer mamas are even more amazing as they do all these things WHILE raising a human being! And two, resting the body is vital to the writing process as a good writer is a healthy writer. Most writers don't really talk about this side of writing so I love that you made a point in this vlog to do so. As someone who believes in self-care to maintain a long, thriving writing career, I was happy to see you choose you which is the greatest benefit in the long run. All in all, I love these candid vlogs where no writing was done but it's all things crucial to the writing process that don't get talked about enough or are left on the editing room floor because Authortubers believe in curating that "perfect writing vlog". As a writing aunt who co-parents my four year old nephew, these balancing acts of writing and motherhood will go from drafting between newborn afternoon naps to charade negotiations with an infant over your laptop privileges to promising a toddler an afternoon of Paw Patrol play in exchange for an hour of writing solitude. Can't wait for the next vlog, Bethany! Go you :-)

Thank you Avionne! :D Yeah it catches me by surprise every time I write a new book and it doesn't go the same way as the last time haha, but accepting that makes the whole process so much more fun. So glad you enjoyed the vlog! :D

So thankful for these vlogs! As a non-author, it's interesting to see the kind of work (both in and outside writing!) that goes into making a book. It may sound bad of me, but I also found it reassuring knowing that other people struggle with these long creative endeavors as do I haha 😅 Life gets in the way, but hopefully that doesn't stop us!

I saw this two days ago and only NOW got the chance to watch it cause a small human took up my brain space. Not a mama but an aunty who takes care of my niece's baby while she goes to work. A solid 12 hours he is with me and this vlog suddenly has new meaning. He has turned my life upside down in the most beautiful way but writing has suddenly become something I need to plan better to get done. I can't just do it at all hours anymore. I may not have to spend nights with him, but between the house work and my work and him I am tired and unmotivated. I am slowly learning to pace myself differently and have different expectations if I want to keep writing. I completely felt it when you said, 'sleep comes first today'. Was so tempted to do all nighters in the beginning to make up but then what condition will I be in once she drops him off early in the morning? I love that you are taking the pressure off yourself by setting a new standard. The old standard was writing a book without a baby. The new standard can't be compared to that. Your book will get finished. Maybe not sooner, but later, and that's okay. Just keep swimming, mama! You'll get there.

Honestly I think you’re doing great! I don’t think I could be half as productive with a baby, lol! I’ve also gone back as of today to tackling the third book in my trilogy too, so yay for both of us working on last books! And on mine, so far so good. Hopefully it stays that way. 😬👍🤞

It's interesting that discovery writing burns you out. Outlining burns me out, so I'm a natural discovery writer. It's more of an adventure for me. :) I also sent you a picture on IG of the pictures you sent me as a thank you for purchasing your hardcover edition. Love it! :D

I think you are doing an amazing job with managing to write anything with a new baby at home. I have children ages 9 and 12 at home and even tho they are self-sufficient I find family things and doing life afround their schedule can get in the way of my dream writing schedule. I have found each of my books have felt different to write. I have outlined each book differently, but it seems about 20k mark I akways feel like this books is mever going ot be finished and what was i thinking? BUt when I get to the 25k word mark I find that my feelings are like yay i can do this.

Hey Bethany, I’m having a Crisis.. my illustrator has competed my children book- A4 landscape design. Width 11.69 x 8.27 .. I can’t find these sizes on either KDP or Ingram spark. Can you tell me what to do?
