Once again, I was driving around looking for a good yard (or bad) to do a youtube transformation video. I knocked on this random person's door and offered to do a free makeover, only to be declined. So I gave the homeowner my business card and said if he changes his mind to give me a call. A few weeks later, I received a call asking if I was still interested in the cleanup. As you can see, I was definitely interested in doing this one. The homeowner is actually undergoing treatment for cancer and hasn't been able to look after his garden for some time, as the treatment is quite severs and leaves you with little energy to do everyday things. Hopefully, with this little bit of help, he will be able to maintain his yard moving forward and make his life a bit easier. All up, I spent around 12.5 hours on this job, with 3 trips to the landfill.

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin.
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working. All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved.
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.

I have concluded the reasons i enjoy your videos more that most other channels. You treat every single yard as if it were your home! You know that the tiniest of detail can stick out like a sore thumb and you take pride in knowing that the smallest of repairs can make a huge impact on a homeowner. New screws in a hinge, a single nail in a fence board, stacked wood moved from yard to concrete porch, trash and debris in a ditch. It separates you from those who, while still working hard, still give the vibe that they are only doing it for content and have the attitude like, they dare someone to point out the trash they left behind because hey...the job was free so deal with it! Not you!! You know its worth doing so its worth doing well and your ethic and genuine care shows! You understand that if the homeowner can't maintain the yard, that can't do the minor repairs either and you totally step up! There's true compassion and love in your work and because of that....i let all the ads play through to help support you! BRAVO ON BEING AN AMAZING SPIRIT IN THIS UGLY WORLD! The planet is a better place because of you! ❤❤

Restoring his yard can help restore hope and keep the homeowner fighting back against a horrible disease. My hope is that his treatment is hugely successful and he can get back to maintaining his yard. After this brilliant restoration, it should be loads easier to care for. I’m allergic to bottle-brush, which is too bad, really, because they are lovely. This garden had a lot of variety and texture and looks tremendously better now, ready to soak in some sun and rain and green up. Oh, and…safety glasses for the win, there 😏

George did put at the beginning of this episode that he and the owner/tenant always discuss what gets done. So if the tree is left big, it’s what the man wanted. Maybe he wants privacy because he’s sick, or just prefers not having people seeing into his home. I appreciate that George doesn’t just come in and run rampant over the properties 👍! It’s not like a vacant property with no one to give directions. Hats off to the awesome George!!

You have touched my heart with the work you do for people in need. You allow people to maintain their dignity and not be called "that yard on the block"! Lastly once you have cut the long grass down would a dethatcher bar help to clean out the old dead grass so the new grass has a better chance to grow? Love your videos.

I’m glad he finally accepted your kindness. Sometimes it’s hard for some people to receive especially when they are not used to rely on others. And you did a wonderful job clearing up. Looks tough with so much overgrown. I’m sure the openness will also help him on his journey to recovery. May you be blessed. ❤

Very satisfying to watch this, George; what a lift you’ve likely given this man. If you plan to help him out with the backyard, maybe you could slice the ivy off the fence and take more dead branches off the front yard tree? 🤷‍♀️ 👍🔆

Good afternoon, George. The video was good and I hope there's a continuation of it, as I'm always waiting for your news. Today I read "the questions & answers". Thank you for commenting about Brent (he's really good at what he does!). Sorry if I asked so many times to find out about him....I didn't know that he left work in 2022. George, about your work, you don't need to talk about how much you earn, I believe that all of us here know and understand that, what you perform, it's priceless, friend. We love seeing you in action. Excellent weekend for you and your family!🤗😊

George: You are most kind, thoughtful, helpful and caring about people in need of assistance with their yardwork. As always, this property looks 100% better, because of all of your hard work. God bless you for all that you do for others.

When you stacked that wood it touched my heart. This man is sick and it’s sad no one is there to help him. Thank you

Now I got to know your name George. I am from the Philippines and I enjoy watching your videos. As always your work is very commendable. You are also a good educator. You enlighten your viewers of the different kinds of plants that you encounter. That is very heartwarming. Keep it up. As always God bless.

Thank you George, chemo just sucks the life out of you (been there, done that) and someone resetting the garden is the VERY best medicine one can be given. My neighbour mowed my lawns for me for over 6 months while I was having treatment, the kindest thing anyone did for me.

One of my favorites of your shows. This person needed your help and you made it happen. I like your work processes and I don't think others appreciate the methodology of your steps and work practices.

The hardest thing when I had chemo was asking for help to do everything. I was so independent and did everything myself. Now in remission, I want to wish this person the best to come to them.

George, i used to have 2 red flowering bottle brushes, I never knew there were white flowering ones! That beautiful calla lily was hiding in that jungle! I think the owner had not walked down that driveway for at least 5-7 yrs! Another awesome transformation! Great job!
