Windowkill is a twin-stick shooter, but the game window itself is constantly closing in on you. Shoot the window edges to push it around your screen as you fight and dodge enemies and bosses in their own windows.

Things I found out: 1. The perks get additional benefits when you level them up to level 2 or 3 2. There is at least one boss that you haven't seen 3. The more you move the window in one direction (with your bullets), the more the opposite side shrinks (That is why you thought there was something moving your window, 30:15) 4. Bellow seems to want to pull the screen into the center. So, when you use it too close to the sides it pulls you and can sometimes be annoying Ps: I watched the first five minutes then downloaded and played it then came back and finished the video.

Does bellow pull the screen towards the center or does the edge of the screen just bounce off the side of the monitor due to momentum? 🤔

I saw the dev updates of this one on reddit. It's nice to see Godot projects come this far If anyone is interested, the game works by having a single world shared among the windows, each window has it's own camera, and it simply shifts the camera to be at the position of the window. There's little more work than that. Altho dealing with windows adds an extra layer of limitations and challenges for a game with this kind of pace.

Fun fact: There is actually a win condition for this game; it isn't truly endless. How do you find it? Well, the only way I'm telling you is through a cryptic riddle... Watch where the eye peers, and where the drain becomes flush. Once both are in place, and the bellow blooms, one big shot and it shatters like glass.

Check out Kingsway. Very similar premise/aesthetic but it's more like an RPG than a bullet hell.

This game is so cool! The concept is great but the gameplay seems like it's somewhat half-baked. I hope the dev continues the development of this because this is genuinely unique.

Interesting concept for a game, also I think the windows closes faster because when you shoot one side it pulls on the other, so the multi shot move it even faster

It's even crazier if you have actual things on your desktop, i've wound up doing things like dragging icons around, opening files and youtube videos while frantically trying to deal with the drain and the hand guy...

btw i'm pretty sure this game started off in a ludum dare game jam (ludum dare 54), i only remember it because it had a similar concept to the game me and my team made except way better. wild to see it as a fully fledged game

From what I know about each boss so far. Spiker: just shoots a couple projectiles, teleports after taking a few hits. Wyrm: has multiple segments that you have to destroy. Shoots projectiles, lunges at player every once in a while. Slimest: moves very slowly. Leaves a trail of damaging slime. Launches projectiles that explode, leaving a patch of slime. Splits into 3 slimers upon death, which split into slimes on death. I’ll edit as I see other bosses as I haven’t watched the whole video yet!

To anybody playing this game, there's a secret boss I would recommend (spoilers for unlock): You need all 3 perks. Move the peer window to where the eye is looking, move drain to find another red box and stack them, and then use bellow in the pupil of the eye to unlock a charge weapon. Fully charge it and shoot the wall for the secret boss

It’s such a fun concept ! It would have been even better if it had a sort of window/office pack esthetic, since the concept and the visuals are pretty deconnected here !

It's only like this because he was streaming if you play it normally it's your actual desktop behind all the windows, icons and all and you can still inteact with the stuff in the background if you're not careful.

I'm getting Neon Drift vibes and I already loved that game as a shmup roguelike crossover, but this takes that concept and pushes it onto a whole new level. This is REALLY unique.

theres a secret boss you can unlock by buying all 3 perks it doesnt matter what level they are, but i recommend you get ALOT of max health before trying the boss, it is a PURE bullet hell. so first, peer will look in a certain direction. move it towards there until you see another eye, place it into that slot. there are 2 black lines on the drain box, move the drain towards the lines and you will see red lines, place it into that slot. after doing these 2 steps, you will notice that peer will start glowing. go inside the circle and use your right click ability. this will give you a new weapon. (works with any character, but their weapon will be replaced), i recommend using the melee character because you will NEED its dash to dodge some things. but nyx works too. finally, the last step is to charge the weapon until it starts flashing, then release it towards the window borders.. the rest is yours to discover. beating the boss will unlock a new character.

Wealth is a straight multiplier for money drops, seeing you reroll on it was a forehead slap moment. Also everything that gives a star is a boss, that first dude just warps around after X damage. Btw, Space closes the shop and Tab closes perks.

@@Retromation you've played how many of these games by now where little money cube/crystals/bloops drop when you kill stuff? when has a money related powerup NOT been "get more money from drops"? Hell, feeze doesn't tell you what it does but you infered... wall punch doesn't tell you what it does but you infered... so yes it was a forehead slap moment 🤪

This game is epic, I have the, I think, v1 and its very fun. If you just go for speed at the start you pretty much win forever.

there is a secret op attack with all of the ability's, I will show the steps 1 get peer and the center of the eye is pointing somewhere, if you move the eye to where its pointing you will see a other eye put the eye that has a pupil and make sure its in the middle of the other eye. 2 get drain and you may see some black dots (Look closely) on the red outline, the black dots are showing where you need to put it, once you follow its path you may see a similar pattern (like the inside of the drain ability) put drain in the very middle of the square (like the first step). 3 get manifest and (I am not sure) use it in peer.(or in drain) now you may see a box with a question mark, if you click it then you unlock that secret attack

Looks like a cool concept, but the screen constantly moving and shrinking would probably give me a headache after a while of playing. It should only do that every once in a while imo, not constantly.

if you were gonna play this again, i just wanted to mention that there’s a secret boss in the game! here’s some hints below: you need all three perks to get to it. if you can’t find out what to do after the first step, keep going! keep pushing! keep holding! that is all
