Check out the NX 1 circuitry was way ahead of Cannon and Nikon . Very efficient design even at today's standards . Probably cost premium and massive R @ Dev costs if truth be told . Their lenses were also high quality . Check out the 85mm , its a chunk of excellence . Then 16/30/45 primes . Then the zooms also .

Got this camera when I finished school around 2013 and took it inter-railing and on a few holidays. Its sat unused now for the best part of eight years probably and just got it out to play as ive more recently got into film photography. Got some great results with it and think im gonna be talking it everywhere with me as a point and shoot that I can quickly edit the photos in lightroom. Shame about the real lack of any good lenses. Just got the kit lens but would love to get a fast prime to see what the nx can reallly do. My have a go of adapting my Canon FD lenses and see what happens. Thanks for the video!

I reckon if Pentax and Samsung had kept collaborating the NX mount would have worked I think pedigree and lack of legacy glass killed it for serious hobbyists and pros. Imagine adapted Pentax af glass on those nx bodies. Sony had the A-mount for their entry with all that Minolta glass, sure they discontinued that mount but they showed with the A99 what they could do and that was enough. The Samsung NX1 was and still is amazing…my gassy soul is often tempted by these Samsung cameras

I happen to find myself in PC World some years back, mooching about and spotted the Samsung NX1000, when I compared it with a lot of the other consumer cameras on display the features just stood out, that and a very competitive price led to me buying one. I loved it and moved up to the NX300 when that came out and I was going to get the NX1 but some of reviews put me off and I invested in the NX500 instead. My thinking was that Samsung's next camera would be the killer larger form-factor camera to go for... but of course, they then decided to pack it in. I did get the NX1 though, I saw it on clearance sale at John Lewis a few months later for a ridiculously low price (sub £500 if I remember rightly) and could not resist. It is a superb camera, even now, for me some of the capabilities have held up well against other cameras until recent years. There is a hack I found online and deployed on the NX500 that provides extended functionality, increased bit rates for video and functions like focus stacking. When I decided to go full frame, I was going to go Sony but I ended up getting the K1 ii, not sure there are many people who have moved from mirrorless to DSLR 😊 I still have the Samsung NX1 and NX500 plus most of the limited number of lenses they brought out, (all but a couple of the more expensive pro lenses that still demand a premium price), and I still use them. As for the concept of a Pentax and Samsung collaboration, that would be awesome, Samsung sensor tech in a Pentax body would indeed be interesting. If someone could convince Samsung it would be fun to ruffle a few feathers...
@LeeIveson
@LeeIveson Жыл бұрын
We all must share a similar sort of mindset (Pentaxians) we seem to go for the underdog that has more value for money than the popular choices 😉 I had heard about that hack you talk of a few years back when I was researching to see if there was a AF compatible NX to PK mount. I never did find one though 😕

Recently purchased a nx300 and a 30mm f2 prime purely for having a small cam I can carry around in my jacket pockets. I think its an excellent cam for its age. I specifically like its manual focus (automatic liveview zoom-in when turning zoom plus red highlights on focus peaking...come on Pentax already!). I'm even considering getting a cheap K / NX adapter to use some small vintage pentax lenses with it...just for the fun of it. Samsung + Pentax? Yeah, that would've been interesting....

Samsung had interesting cameras. The last ones with 28mpix sensor are still quite competitve with parameters on market today. Especially when compared to recently released Pentax KF :D But the lack of IBIS was very bad design decision. They had quite long cooperation with Pentax before and it was strange that they created new system that had completely new lenses and incompatible mount. If only they released camera with IBIS and including Samsung NX/Kmount autofocusing adaptor, it could be much more successful.

The NX cameras were quite a bit ahead of their time. I drooled over the NX1 when I got the chance to try it out - that BSI APS-C sensor and the oled back screen *and* EVF 😍. It might even give some of today's best a run for their money, but even if it didn't quite match up, how good does a camera really have to be? These NXs were over-engineered and over-specced, if anything, and coupled with their rarity, it's no wonder used prices can still be quite high.
@LeeIveson
@LeeIveson Жыл бұрын
Yeah those things were defiantly ahead of their time, Samsung could literally pick up where they left off by chucking in all the new AF/AI recognition tech into the NX1 & be back in the game! Or better yet they could buy Pentax from Ricoh and give us the camera's we've been asking for!

I have an odd take, but in my opinion they shot themselves in the foot with the Galaxy NX, and that’s ultimately what did them in. I remember at the time photographers were a bit irritated with the NX mount, but really liked the image quality and tech. They had hopes the lens mount would grow rapidly and were very happy with the NX 1. However, the Galaxy NX is what stole all the press attention and was widely panned as an overpriced worthless gimmick which people then unfairly attributed to the entire NX line. Once that was released, even the release of the NX 1 couldn’t overcome that stigma despite positive reviews.
@LeeIveson
