It’s a bad choice putting this guy on the trade block for the Sabres. He’s been one of the few bright spots on the team this year and they have the money to extend him. Really sad he’ll more than likely be leaving Buffalo but hope it works out for both teams. Best case scenario they don’t trade him. Hope that’s the case. Update: Kevyn Adams explicitly said on a radio talk show interview that they are not shopping Mittelstadt around at all and that he’ll be working to get an extension done. He also said however that that doesn’t mean they won’t listen to offers if there are any. Seems the only reason they’d trade him is if the perfect deal comes. This is definitely good news for Sabres fans, looking like he’ll be sticking around but no extension yet, meaning anything is still possible. From my perspective I’m really hoping they can get the extension done, he’s their team leader in points and has been great on a not so great team. He’s finally becoming the player they drafted at 8th overall and I think they need to keep his now blossoming talent around. Again though, never know what could happen.

Great Video, as usual, Nathan. I think that the Best Win-Win Trade would be Midlestadt to The Chicago Blackhawks for Tyler Johnson & Others (Jared Tinordi might be a piece) to The Buffalo Sabres. Johnson & Others would likely help The Buffalo Sabres, especially, the fact that Chicago Trades (e.g. Dominik Hasek & other trades with Chicago have worked out for them) & Mildlestadt would go to a team that can afford to sign him. I dont know how you can oppose him being traded as a Sabres fan. You guys were expected to be an improved team before this season, and what happened? If coaching wont wake the guys up, what else will? Unless this shutout over the Kings propells them to a late season surge, they need to trade a significant piece to shake things up.

Sabres have a good young team. I think some of their players have underperformed but not Mittelstadt. Near a point a game player on a bad Buffalo team is awesome. They should resign him but I am thinking Buffalo wants to improve the team, whether its on defense or elsewhere. If they trade Mittelstadt for picks, then that is a waste. Buffalo wants to compete now. They need a good player back.

His +8 is finally good to see points mean nothing if yoru giving up more than you score. The problem I have is the Huberdeau effect if your not a natural goal scorer you rely on others to score th goals so you can pot your assists.I see Casey as a player constantly struggling to get to 20 goals that imo cements his ceiling at less than a point per game so a second line player. I will reiterate what I said about the dumb Habs management you DO NOT trade away first round picks for second line players you reserve those picks to get a "potential" first line player. So if I was another manager I am not offering a first round I might swap first round picks and add in another player or two or make it a big trade involving a couple players each. There is one more problem and that is Casey is yet another second line player that might require TOO much towards the salary cap .Besides my first rule not giving up a first round pick I also NEVER give second line players more than 6 mil so imo Casey is not a player I would want I can't have those type of players and still build a potential cup contender.

But think about this……Tage and Cozens are both making 7 million on 7 year contracts. That’s pretty good. The extra money that other teams would be spending on #1 and #2 centers is more then 14 million, can go to mitts

Nashville - Fabbro Boston - Carlo Columbus - Jiricek Nobody else makes sense. They dont want a starting goalie when Luukkonen has been the best goalie in the league since 1/1/24 behind arguably the worst defensive team in the league. They don't want some old 33 year old player, or anybody older than maybe a year older than Mittelstadt, for a young top-6 center. They dont want a LHD, when they have Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, Ryan Johnson, Bryson, and Novikov. They're going to want something decent in return for a 25 year old RFA who actually likes playing in Buffalo and won't command top of the market money. And no, Ferraro is not an upgrade on Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, or even R. Johnson...and he's another LHD.

Buffalo is not built to support a physically soft player like Mittelstadt. Put him between two bruisers and he's ok. That's not how the Sabre's are built, at least, at the moment, so, trading him now makes sense.

What Buffalo really needs is not some loser 3rd line guys age 30, they need to make a big trade like Casey, 2 first rd picks and whatever for a big name scoring winger who plays tough like a Thachuk boy. Big move not some goofy more for some average old dudes who never scored 40 points

From the teams mentioned in the video, there’s one team you forgot to mention where I think makes sense on both sides, The Calgary Flames. Flames would get a #1-2 Center who would help with their retool. Buffalo on the other hand could maybe ask for a Rasmus Andersson to help their defense or take a swing at Goaltending with Markstrom who has 3 years left at $6 Million.

Or buffalo send casy , jackob Bryson 2024 1st 2025 1st top 10 protected to Nashville for Cody glass, fabbro, pecka rine get a goaltender that's all star.
