i went to art school and i learned alot of fundamentals and realism and lots of hard long projects, but recently i been just drawing cute cartoonish chibi like characters and i realised, dang i love this, this is what i want to do. so i think i am gonna keep going with it and keep drawing the cute pictures that make me and my friends say awww i wanna invoke that happiness in other people too. :3

I don’t think you should call your art bad, art is one of the most versatile and subjective mediums out there. I personally find your art to be very cute, I also feel like your colors are amazing, really! I love how lively and fitting they are. I really like your usage of the analogous color-pallets. Also, as an artist I gotta say, the way you can just let go of perfectionism fascinates me! I’m someone who feels like everything they draw must be perfect, and videos like these help me understand the true meaning that comes with doing art. So thank you. The comment your mom had made on art is really something that I feel like you shouldn’t really pay any attention to, as I mentioned, art is extremely subjective and versatile- one may draw hyperrealism whilst the other may draw comics, yet both will have an audience, both will have people who appreciate their art. Please keep going and don’t get discouraged! You don’t need to have any goals when doing art, you just gotta have patience and most importantly, fun. :)

I love these types of drawings very much, but I kept this hidden from myself for a long time. Now I'm 51 and I finally dare to come out with it. so grateful that you share this video it gives me confidence i'm not the only one❤

I really enjoy the style of this video! Its so chill and colorful. It feels like art! I also worked with the artists way book and omg it changed everything for me. I used to only strictly draw anime figures and lost all fun doing it, comparing myself to others. After finishing the book i draw so so so much more. I draw animals, people, abstract art, i craft more, everything that i just want in that moment and it feels so good. I also have a small sketchbook like this to keep myself exploring and doing art feels so good again. I will always reccomend the artists way to everyone haha

I am learning to draw, and trying what I see others draw, to try and find the style I like. I am very slow, that is amazing that you could do that in 1 day. I sometimes can’t finish 1 drawing in a day. I will say that I do have some tiny sketchbooks and even 1 drawing in those can take me hours. I can’t do anything realistic.

I make my own sketchbooks slightly smaller (2x2inch) for using when I am at a doctors appointment or travel etc. I can fit it in my very small bag. I also have a super tiny palette that I take with me (1x2inch) and a waterbrush. It literally fits anywhere lol.

I picked up one of these sketchbooks when I was travelling in North America last year (I’m in Australia) and I’ve used it this year as a Sketch A Day sketchbook and there must be some kinda magic in this for real because it’s been such a great project for me too!! So glad I can across your channel ☺️☺️

People are afraid to be criticized and "fail" because psychologically, our most basic need is security; from our tribe. Your brain quite literally will send out fear signals if it thinks you are going to endanger your place in the tribe, like going against the grain or accruing disapproval. Isolation means death and even though we aren't cavemen anymore, our brain has modernized that same fear into fear of failure and "bad art" and "beige boring". You are reframing your mindset by failing on purpose and biologically training your body response to not send out those signals. BRAVO!! ❤ What you said about not wanting to use up art supplies until you're "good enough" really struck me. I shouted "YES!" Out loud and startled my cat 😂 I feel that way too when I am gifted these beautiful, expensive journals, thinking that whatever I put in them must perfect, like poetry or quotes--- something I can't possibly mess up and cross out because I made a mistake. Ugghhhh trying so hard to be okay with being messy and using the pretty supplies anyway! ❤

I really enjoyed this video. I am just getting back into art and find that I am overly critical in my work. I have a hard time just letting go. I think this exercise would be a good place to start. Thank you shoe sharing.

This was such a great idea, and I feel like it is a total sign for me to try this because I have the EXACT Michael's sketchbook sitting hardly used for a couple years😅 I love the insight to finding your style, I went through the very same process of exploring things I loved as a kid and realized what I really love now too ❤ I am able to draw realistically and used to do a lot of portraits and all, but I just love whimsical fun so much more most of the time and enjoy making it far more ☺️ I am so happy for you! Your color combos are all absolutely gorgeous I love your use of brights and neons you have such an eye for them, everything was so sweet and wonderful! I love mushroom houses! This video got me thinking ... and so it is a good one 😊 ... I wonder why it is so important to call the things one does art ... what is art? ... why does it have to be art? ... I use craft as in cræft for my things ... it roots everything ... puts everything to the ground ... makes it easy and natural ... and I leave it to others to call it whatever ... maybe even art!
