I turned my garage into a full fledged gym complete with mirrors all around and rubber flooring when the pandemic hit. I only hit up my local gym for a brief change of scenery nowadays. For serious workouts, I can only do it in my gym now. Everything is right where I need it and no waiting around for stuff. Also, working out in your underwear is too awesome.

My home gym set up is cool (mainly a pull up bar with rings, chest expander and a few other things) but this powerrack looks cool as hell, really has it all
@saberman1
@saberman1 4 ай бұрын
I have the exact same set up in my home gym. It is a very good overall rack. I wish it was made in 11-gauge steel instead of 14. Also, the bars and accessories that come with it are very cheap and flimsy. The safety bars are not very deep but almost ok. The pulley system works very well, great for supersets or fly moves. I wish they had an option to upgrade the pulleys and cables. The smith machine works very well and is very smooth. The foot plate and landmine attachment work very well. I added some of my HD accessories handles and bars to it and it is everything I need. I wish it had an available Mono lift attachment available. With some key additions to it a person can really customize it have an amazing home gym. I am very happy I chose this brand and model. The price point/quality make it five stars.

I was very impressed with the cables. I didn’t expect them to be so smooth. The handles they provide are meh but if you’re serious, you’re willing to buy higher quality ones, or already have some.

Almost perfect - it's a shame that the multi-grip pullup bar is trash though. The moment your palms get sweaty, those grips are as slippery as a dolphin and you'll either have to strap up or enter chalk city (which even then may not be too useful). It's also very limited on grip widths - you either have a chinup or a wide-grip pull-up. Neutral grip/ close grip pullups and chinups won't work

In my naive novice days, I cheaped out on a standard 1" barbell and bought 270lbs of weight plates. BIG mistake! Within 3 months I outgrew it on RDL and 7 months for squats. At that point I joined a commercial gym and started using machines on the side and have milked out additional gains. My ticep longhead finally started to pop out more with the rope extensions. I love it because it eliminated elbow pain from skullcrushers and pullovers. Right now, I just need space for a power rack with an attractable pulley. Plus the leg curling attachment thing for the bench. Your new power rack looks top notch btw!

Alan Thrall reviewed a rack the same company gave to him for free 8 months ago. A salient point he made - you shouldn't use bandpegs on a rack that isn't bolted down. I mean reverse bands might be ok, but I think he's got a point. He also thought the pulldown handle was garbage, so curious as to if you really think it's better. Also maybe you have miscalculated but a 200-250 sq.ft room is not normally considered to be small - a quick google suggests that is very much master bedroom sized!

I knew you were gonna get a Major Fitness rack & equipment. They have been around for about 3 years but they would not advertise or send reviewers free stuff. I told them and told them they needed to advertise and send out free stuff. Then I noticed they sent free stuff to anybody that had a channnel even if they only had 200 subs. They are everywhere know and giving away every thing but the kitchen sink. They are just like ER Kang, Rit Fit, Mikola etc. budget companies who put their name on the same racks. They are good for people to get a rack and a cable system in their gym without breaking the bank. It works but not comparable to REP, Rogue, Titan etc.

I'm moving in to a dorm with a little weight room in it. 2 Benches, a rack, a Bar, a cable machine, lat pulldown, EZ-Bar, adjustable dumbell and 600Kg of plates. Probably gonna workout there like half the time. The round trip to the gym, packing a bag, showering there etc. makes it such that I only ever do full body 2-3x/week. It ends up being like a 3-4 hour round trip door to door. Always wanted to try out some weird stuff like Bench 4x/week or Squat everyday for like 1-2 months, but I would never make the trip to the gym just for a little 30 minute workout. That's obviously different with an apartment gym. Just take a water bottle, walk there in 2 minutes, workout and walk back in 2 mins, straight to the shower. No extra inconvenience.

@REVIVALFitness

I would put mats under if you plan on deadlifting, rows off the floor etc. Theyre also a good idea in general just as a failsafe / more stable ground. If you’re not hitting weights off the ground I think you should be good noise wise.
@Frennemydistinction
@Frennemydistinction 4 ай бұрын
You might want to put the mats around the rack, not under it, so as to maximise space between it and ceiling. One reviewer cut out false ceiling to make his fit, lol.

Good video. But to me, dual cable stacks are pointless, they look cool in KZfaq preview thumbnails but that's about it. I would take the Powertec Levergym (or one of the many copies) over a smith machine as it's like having a home Hammer Strength. And there are compact chest/rear flye stations that IMHO would be superior for flyes to the dual stack.

It would have been better if you had acknowledged at the beginning of the video that Major Fitness sent you the piece for free (correct me if I’m wrong). Also, 14 gauge steel is not that good actually. The standard for good home gym equipment is 11 gauge which is substantially thicker. Is the stated weight capacity actually legit for 14 gauge? Probably not.

Another great video from you, Matthew! I'm seriously considering putting a home gym together myself. I'm really sick of all the BS at the gym I go to. I really like the equipment they have but seeing all the problems, sometimes daily is getting really old. When I go to the gym, Matthew, I'm very serious and I don't socialize much at all. There's a few guys I say hello to and occasionally ask for a spot, but I see a lot of women taking selfies and videos and playing games with men. It's rather sickening. To their credit the management has asked some of these females to leave and kicked them out but the problems seem to get worse. Also, you have guys that are truly full of themselves and seem to demand just as much attention as the women do. I'm sure you get the picture and I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't know. You're the best, Matthew, and thanks for the continual excellent quality of your videos!

It’s not expensive given all the combined elements. Getting a rack, smith machine, and dual cable system separately is going to be twice this much (likely more), and with more footprint.

Cannot recommend these guys. Spent 1500 on the spirit b52. I live in Alaska so I paid to have it barged up here. So I have it halfway out together and they didn't include a piece of the rack. It was a smaller piece but I couldn't move forward without it. I call them up and they refuse to ship it to Alaska. It would fit in a USPS Flat rate box. Customer service agent said they could mail it to the Seattle freight forwarder and I'd have to pay the freight charges which would be like 150$. They absolutely refused to send me the part I needed and then had the balls to offer me 30 dollars credit for my trouble. I literally had a half built 1500 rack and they didn't help me at all. I had to fabricate my own piece and then they offered me 60 dollars for my time. THEY COULD HAVE MAILED ME THE RIGHT PART FOR CHEAPER. this has been an awful experience and I hope you don't have to talk with customer service.because they say they will call you back that day and then 3 days later you might get a call back. BUYER BEWARE
