I agree 100%. I feel like Polygon deserves a lot more recognition as they carved out a niche in providing super high value bikes at a very reasonable price tag especially in a time when the cost of bikes are rediculously high. I've seen people with the T7 absolutely shred some black trails. You get a trail ready full sus with everything you need at $1500, that's madd value. I got two road bikes from Polygon and they are fast. I refuse to get duped by the bike industry into spending 3-4x more $$ when the performance is there being offered at a lower price tag.

I agree I took a chance and got a T7 recently after they did the frame update to fix the gusset . The only downfall I see is there a little heavy and the handle Bars for non DH stuff is so much more comfortable jumping with riser bars like 50-60mm ! Very hard to beat the price considering components it comes with I couldn't find anything close ... I caught the sell for 1599$. Ended up being around 1800 with shipping and taxes I also found a 50$ off coupon

@@nathanw5747 Yeah, the Siskiu is also a fully upgradeable platform as well. If it were my bike, I'd just upgrade the fork and wheelset later on down the line and It'd be set as a trail bike/budget shred machine. I seen someone take like 3-4 lbs off the bike from a wheelset upgrade.

My first MTB was a Polygon Sisku D7 ($1.700 new 2 years ago), i left all my buddies in the dust once I got the hang of all the basic skills. I sold it and got a Marin Alpine Trail 7 (another bike from bikes online, $3,000/now 2,400) because I was hitting bigger stuff and needed more travel. Climbed it 3× 4,200 ft up trails most people shuttle and then went down and its heavy conpared to my riding buddies. All my buddies ride YT, Canyon, IBIS and Yeti. They can barely keep up and have had to repair their bikes more than me. Rider+skills+how you take care of your bike & repair knowlede goes a long way. Also, Polygon and Marins are awesome! Like a couple other people said, as long as you're out there having fun. Ride what you like, within your budget and get after it! At the end of the day, other than the sport itself, it's about being outdoors and enjoying nature.

I just started MTB again after 18+ years of road cycling. While on the road I had top level bike with top shimano dura ace and carbon wheels. We were sponsored and for road racing there is a difference. Road racing you need a light bike. Whether you are on a time trial, road, or climbing the bike is crucial. For mounting biking it could be the same. If you are training for enduro, XC, DH, or XC marathon your bike of choice is important no matter what. One think I learn now that I am MTB is geometry, your discipline, weight to wattage ration (power input), and fork & shock pressure, and of course tire of choice. If you are just having fun, a good bike frame (carbon or aluminum) good drive train, and good wheels, and you are good to go. Don’t pay attention to what other people ride, some people have lots of cash and they can buy what they want. Get what you can afford and get out there 😊 and have fun, life is too short 🎉

I've had the polygon T7 for over a year and a half now. It is an amazing bike and I have taken it to downhill parks and double black trails. I have kept it relatively stock other than adding a longer dropper and PNW bars. I would say it is one of the best full sus bikes for someone who does not want to spend a lot of money to start with but can be upgraded a lot.

@@Animalstyle69 I have serviced the rear shock and brakes recently and it was cheap and easy to do because the bike uses standard parts. I also recently replaced the fork with a Fox 34 Performance Elite Grip 2 and it took the bike to a whole new level. The T7 is a great platform to build a high performance trail bike.

In the UK, Polygon aren't looked at as cheap bike. They're rare. You don't see many, but they are here and people do ride them. They're very capable bikes at a very affordable price, same as Lapierre, Canyon, YT, and other brands in the same price point. To us a cheap bike is something like a Carrera (not sure if you'd of heard of them) or a Voodoo. Bikes start to become good bikes around the 800 mark. And around the 1500 mark for full sus

Your bike has 100% quality, 100% durability, 90-95% performance of those 12k bikes. I wouldn't pay 4x for a bike for a 5-10% overall difference. But, to each their own.

I would say that for a beginner it is a good bike. But things like suspension, brakes, drive train, strength and weight cost more and you will definitely know the difference when pushing harder for longer. Try a $5000 bike for a day and then you'll know. I have tried all kinds of bikes and owner all kinds of bikes and 3 to 5 k is the sweet spot depending on where you ride

@edtorres6463 I have found the opposite. Try and build a bike up with good wheels and suspension, brakes, etc. You're over the cost of that bike. Good forks ar $1600! Lol. And rear shock is $700 wheels $400 a piece at least without rubber $ 200 in rubber. You can get brakes and drive train combo for like 1200. Dropper post $450. Seat $100 grips$100 headset $100 dottome bracket $100. And we still have no frame. So realize when you buy a basic bike, you are paying for bad parts to then you upgrade with good ones. 🤔 now I am talking from the camp that you can afford a good bike. If not, buy a bike like this and then upgrade parts as you break or wear them out. But know there is a difference between the 5k bike and the Costco kit." Not saying that's it's horrible"

I’m absolutely brand new to MTB. I’ve just bought a 9 month old ‘23 T8 (black/grey/copper) here in New Zealand for the equivalent of $1100 USD ($1800 NZD). It will be both my daily commuter to work on the road, as well as my first foray into off road trails & cross country. Jumps etc are not remotely on the radar yet. I will never ever reach the full potential of this bike but knowing I’ve got such a well specced bike at such a good price really excites me to get out there & start riding in the bush/forest.

I remember when I was in high school and I ran track and field. I had the cheapest shoes. At one point I ran with some vans shoes. Yet out perform 90%+ of the runners from my team and other opponents. I had so much fun. I’m also a musician, i master my instruments playing cheap instruments. I’ve made cheap instruments sound as the good as professional and expensive ones. I’ve learn that brands are just brands and most folks don’t see that. It’s not the shoes, instrument, bike. But the person. I recently got into Mtb and the same process and mentality I’ve used in other areas I’ve applied to Mtb. I purchase a Marin “budget” bike. I’ve been biking close to 3 months. I’ve progress so much that I’m doing some gnarly trails keeping up with riders that have been doing it for 5-10 years that have $5k plus bikes. I honestly don’t pay attention to deficiencies of the product. But my ability to out perform myself, product or others. I have fun with whatever I get my hands on. I could careless others have expensive bikes. I stay in my lane like I did in track and field and focus directly at the finish line. Be happy with what you have. You can’t afford it, it’s ok. Have fun.

Seems like a pretty nice bike to me! 34 pounds isn't so much for a full suspension bike in this range, you might get a little more "pop" out of your forks if you change the rebound setting on the bottom (easy to forget to change that). A little more speed in the rebound will give you a bit more bounce when you load the front ahead of a jump. I would break my neck for sure if I had trails like that to ride, I am SO jealous!

I really hate when the privileged, spoon fed, Daddy owns a big business, never work for anything in my life types have the nerve to talk down about certain things just because it doesn't have a certain price tag. Yes, the components matter; yes, the build quality of the bike matters/frame geo, etc but ultimately it's the skill of the rider. Not everyone can afford the $4k, $6k, or $10k Specialized, Santa Cruz, Yeti, Transition, YT or Pivot type bikes. Just enjoy the ride and have fun.

Same can be said for people who can afford expensive bikes who are labeled as such... It goes both ways. I'm happy to see anyone out on the trails having a good time.

@@_Jake.From.Statefarm_ Being able to afford it and talking down about those who can't are two different things. This issue isn't about those who can afford it rather those who think worth is dictated by the perceived value placed on materiel things and think they're better because they possess those things. It's not hard but hey it's about the sport and thy joy of it ultimately

Afford a 10k bike and putting it on a credit card and or making payments isn’t affording anything. It’s living beyond your means. I see guys sticking 6-10k bikes on the back of their pos Subarus or Toyota corollas all the time. That’s embarrassing.

You can have plenty of fun on a cheap bike, compare it to a high end bike and you’ll “get” the difference. It’s next level. Plushness, smoothness, the shifting is precise, the brakes have more strength and modulation. Etc. don’t knock high end. Just sayin’.

I wish it didn't have to feel like that. If I was in my 20s maybe I wouldn't mind a bike not recommended for pedaling climbs? Possible just a cheap Hunt or Chinese carbon wheelset would help that bike? I'd rather ride my gravel bike on greens than a tank on blues but I'm not a shuttler. I don't think I'm in bad shape but I don't like to be drained after the climb on normal 15-20mile, 1.5-3k elevation gain rides. If you really want to buy new I'd probably agree it's one of the better bikes but you can find a more well rounded bike used for close to that price. Especially factoring in needing a wheel upgrade ootb to make it pedalable on big terrain.

It is a solid entry level full suspension bike. The drivetrain and suspension spec is what I would consider the starting point for a “real” mountain bike. The wheelset and hubs are a weak point and where they cut some cost. The entity parts are kind of just house brand stuff that are functional but heavy. The bike is a solid bike and would be priced in the $2,000-$2,300 range if it was from a larger manufacturer. The frame is made by PT Insera Sena which makes frames for companies like Marin. I would consider them slightly below Kinesis in quality. Kinesis is who makes frames for Commencal, Diamondback, Felt, GT, Haro, Ideal, Jamis, K2, Kona, Kross, Raleigh, Redline, Santa Cruz, Schwinn, Storck, Sunn, Titus, Torker, and Trek. The T7 is definitely a bike someone can go with. I have to disagree with the tektro brakes though. They are marginally better than the MT200’s and nowhere near a SLX or XT in terms or performance. Also, Maddie, the next time you get a bike with code r brakes revive the stock pads and install some purple Emtb pads from Galfer. They TOTALLY remove any soft feeling the brakes have. A real game changer.
