America still does it. Technically we do it all landfill, recycling, burning, and compost. Each major city, in separated regions, and in every state has their own landfill, etc.

Considering each German produces way above the EU average of waste per year (only behind Denmark, Luxembourg and Malta) then that’s a good thing. Whereas in the UK we produce below the EU average and manage to get it lower year on year. Landfills aren’t good, but it’s all swings and roundabouts.

To be fair, the entire uk belongs in landfill Useless country Germany, when can I move in?

It seems like there’s got to be a better way to do a lot of this stuff.

Problem is the needles are made of the wrong kind of metal, so they're not magnetic, and metal detectors won't show them either. Having said that, using large tweezers to pick up the needles looks much easier already compared to the litter picker used in this episode. I think we could also train dogs to detect used needles, but to do that ethically the floor would still need to be cleared first. Dogs would mainly be useful in finding buried needles, or those hidden between sofa cushions etc. Basically just to check the place after an initial clean to find things human eyes possibly missed. Wouldn't make it quicker, just more thorough.

It's started to make me wonder if the Russians clean the buildings out in Ukraine before they decided to blow them up. I'm guessing deep down somebody is getting money there pockets lined.

It is mainly because domestic waste and industrial waste dont get mixed so concrete wood etc gets disposed of differently so imagine tearing a building with the domestic waste inside..that will be hell of a job after the fact to then seperate..hence the reason to clear up before hand 😊

Plus, can you imagine flying used hypodermic needles when it comes down. Not safe for the contractors.

I think they meant that they have to wash them in a certain order because they don't want the dirty, sprayed-off water (containing salt from the dirty conductors) splashing onto other conductors stacks. It wasn't quite clear, I had to watch that part a couple times to understand it. The water they spray with is clean fresh water, but if it reaches a certain 'hardness' in minerals from the tap source, the system will shut down as you don't want mineralization build up on the conductors either. Think of a glass of water that's left to dry out and the whitish film that's left behind--those are the minerals in every kind of tap water.
