What is going on with these retro gaming companies? If you thought DKOldies was bad, retrovgames is 100x worse... not only do they not refurbish their consoles, but they also dropship consoles and have horrible customer service. They are denying my return for the terrible PS3 they sent me, and I'm not happy.

A rare W for DKOldies? This company retrovgames is truly awful. DKOldies could teach them a thing or 2 Edit: let me clarify - I still don’t recommend buying from dkoldies given that they claim to sell refurbished consoles, but don’t refurbish them. BUT, compared to retrovgames, dkoldies looks amazing. Another update: the "case" was escalated and I finally received a refund and a return label.

DK oldies is a scam. They offer less than what is posted on their website. You won't get the real value unless you call them out. The price I was quoted was different than what I was offered. I brought it to their attention and they fixed it. But it was very shady. I got my money and it was a decent experience, but it was shady how they handled the issue. Maybe the employees get paid the difference to make a low-ball purchase. IDK...but there is something shady going on.

The biggest red flag by far is the email that says they "advise against official channels" LMAO that's how they know they'll lose a charge back. I know not everyone can do it, but this is definitely why you only ever order from these places with a credit card that features a built in warranty, or through PayPal who has a dispute resolution team.

Just follow through with the chargeback. Tell your bank that you receive defective merchandise and they refused to honor their own outlined return policy. The return policy that is on their website is a legally binding contract that you agreed to and they are to enforce when you made the purchase. You followed the policy to a "T". It is they that dropped the ball. Intentionally, I might add. They are the ones that breached the contract. They intentionally did not respond to your email for several days, on two different occasions, so that the return window would close in their favor. When that one agent stated that the unit must be in their warehouse prior to the expiration of the 30 days, I will agree, it is complete and total BS.

unfortunately this is a pretty common practice for these drop shipping services that disguise themselves behind branding with fancy logos and websites. In the figure collecting world we have Toys Wonderland. They are the exact same lol, their customer service are from 3rd party that are in asia and almost all emails are written from a different identity. Best is to just avoid these drop shipping services altogether

I live very close to the Retro V Games in Allentown. I went over there last summer with no knowledge of this because they were supposedly hiring. It was easily the worst game store I've ever been in, the prices were outrageous, and the people there were extremely mean. I said I'd like to make at least $12 an hour and they looked at me like I was crazy saying that they would only pay 8.

@@jrob0021 Yep! It's a small retro game store. They had a curtain separating the store from the "back" which had a bunch of teenagers with soldering irons and whatnot. When I went to go ask for a job they wanted me to "repair" stuff back there. Out of all the game stores I've been to this one was the worst. Very small too.

@@tonierbuckle0202 In my experience living in PA, it's mixed bag. There are some game stores were actually pretty fair, but I found that they're pretty dried up now a days. Some of the best gaming deals I've ever had were at yard sales and those are extremely rare around here, you just got to check the newspapers like mad during the summer.

Thank god the whole shenanigans with these companies started happening before i saw stuff from them. Dude I've had one issue with them.. I had planned to buy most of my stuff from them but my first purchase screwed it all in my opinion. I got a simple N64 with 2 games and the expansion pack. They ship everything individually, I asked what's going on with the games they said "We are having issues with the games we have selected for you, once we get them to work we will ship them" and I finally get them after a long while they forgot my expansion pack so I email them and they basically gave me bs saying "well we did ship everything, check your packages" I email them again because it's not hard to look into a small envelope. I email them again and it goes like this "well it says we shipped everything to you, let me get with my shipping team to confirm we have shipped these items" they don't get back to me and I email again and they never responded ever again... never again!

I honestly want to start a retro console and games business where everything is restored to look brand new. That means bleach on faded white consoles, for example. Complete dust cleanout. Repasting with the best safe long term paste solution, i.e. not liquid metal as there's too many variables there. Something like Kryonaut extreme. I honestly reckon there's a market for someone to do niche restorations. I'd film every single console's condition prior posting. I am going to look into it, as I am 50yo and recently started a 2 year break so this might be perfect.

3:41 Mercari did that to me. I requested a return for wrong item the same day I received it and they took three days to respond, saying it was outside the 3-day return window and I should have contacted them sooner. They they banned me for life for doing a credit card chargeback. Total clowns.

Drop shipping is very common with high end appliances so it isn't by itself bad. The stores will have display units, but Sub Zero, Wolf, Viking, etc. Ship from manufacturing. Samsung and Apple do ship from factory to you.

I agree. The issue is this company isn't honest about it, and the fact they are very shady with their return process. Even if Jacob had agreed to return he ( unless he argued enough and won) would have to not only pay the fees for shipping back to them but would also be charged a "10%" restocking fee. Didn't read their policies closely, so I don't even know if they would charge him shipping again for the replacement unit as well.

Your video resonated with me so well. I tried buying a gamecube from them. The problems began when the shipping info stated that it was still being shipped after almost two weeks from USPS, then suddenly, I got a package from Fedex, and it was my console. Bear in mind, it was a USPS tracking number, and it was sent by fedex from Japan. First red flag. When I asked about it, they stated my original package was "lost." Never sent an email, nothing. The console was a disaster. There were things rattling around on the inside. It was dirty, and the controller was broken. It was also packaged terribly. No bubble wrap, nothing. Second red flag. Then, I began my month long battle of returning the thing. They asked me to send pictures, videos of how I repackaged the console, and even made me pay for my OWN shipping label. They flat put refused to pay for it, saying that "thats not our policy." Long story short, I sent follow up emails every day, outraged at their level of service as well as checking on my return, even went as far as emailing them the second it was delivered saying, "Okay. I returned it. Where's my refund?" They said up to 30 days for the refund to process. 30 days came and went, nothing. Finally, I sent roughly 20 emails, including screen shots of every email they sent me (to avoid the warranty crap that you sadly had to deal with) left phone messages, essentially almost to the point of harassing them. Finally, they responded, saying, "We are so sorry, we were just waiting for the verification..." What?! Immediately following this, I got my money back. Third and final red flag! They were hoping I would forget so I would not ask for my money. Do not buy from them!

Making it impossible to return the item with the return process invites the risk of getting hit with bank card disputes and/or chargebacks. Chargebacks can result in them being hit with chargeback fees in addition to the purchase price.

And the only thing that they wanted me to send them was a picture of the game correct. And in a couple of days I got a new copy. It was that easy.

Wild. They are local to me in Allentown, PA They had an actual storefront first impressions were bad. They were still setting up it was not organized prices everywhere. I still gave it a chance and returned talked to the workers like normal people made conversation and ended becoming cool with several of the employees and the manager. Owner of the RetroVGames is really the one to blame for the downfall and bad stuff about the company. Employees are awesome but underpaid and overworked. Now they operate solely from a warehouse which I have visited personally due to the connections I made and it legit is like a smaller DKOldies super cool its been several months now that I have went due to the manager finally deciding to quit and find a better job.

I’m a truck driver and I’ve actually picked up at the Ingram micro location in Carrollton TX. They ship out new electronic components to companies. Not finished products, stuff like the boards and disc drives ect. Not a video game specific company.

Even most overseas companies I have bought from has responded faster than these guys. I had to get a new extruder for one of my 3D printers because it broke (under warranty). I send them a video of the issue, two days later they were preparing to ship me a replacement free of charge.

I can confirm that the Allentown, PA address is no longer around and hasn’t been for almost a full year now. I live in Bethlehem, PA and Retro VGames was only at the Catasauqua Rd location for maybe 2-4 months if i remember correctly.

One scam that sucks is when they say it was delivered to ur address but refuse to show u proof and then they drag it out as long as possible to the return window so u can no longer review them or make a claim. Last time i buy a game from etsy. Etsy tells me window has passed after item is “lost in shipping for months” and to work it out directly with the reseller who tells me they will not help me unless etsy tells them to. Vicious cycle.

does not matter if they respond 11 months later, it only matter when you send the mail that you want to refund, from that date is where it counts, I am no lawyer, but it have worked every time here, if it is 30 days and I mail them on day 29, Friday at 11pm when no one is there, I still sent it in before 30 days, so it does not matter when they respond on, lets us say day 33, they agree and send my money or whatever. It is when the customer say they want to refund where the law counts, not when the company replies lol

I've delt with companies not wanting to refund items and keep making excuses. I threaten them that I'll talk to visa and they'll get my money back if they dont want to play nice. Sure enough I got my money back lol. Always pay with visa/Mastercard and they'll reverse the transactions

I ordered from DKOldies (AC3: Liberation and Rayman on Vita) and I was very pleased. I think the hate is a little overblown but I totally get the console issue. This Retro vGames is completely unacceptable. No way am I ever ordering from them

I think all the hate for DKOldies would go away if they just told the truth "We clean our consoles but don't refurbish them." That is the issue with DK Oldies. I mean their prices are high and you are paying for refurbished items when they are not refurbished. However Jacob here even mentioned that at least their customer service is great. It's like if you are caught with your hand in the cookie jar and you're sitting here "No I Wasn't trying to steal any cookies."

I still don't get how hard of a job it seems to be for them resellers , when refurbish is a fast job with right tools and products..... cheap products too. They are not even trying.

I applied to work there when they were still at the Catasauqua Rd address by the Airport. I applied for a shipping job but they saw I had a A+ Certificate and drafted me to mod consoles for sale. They were jailbreaking systems in mass and selling PSP systems Jail broken and selling iso images to load on them. They were also doing physical mods like taking a orange game cube and moddimg it to be global. Using nippers on a N64 to widen the Cartrage slot. The reason I didn't work there was the illegal activity the mods were gray but preloading roms is a crime.

dk oldies is no where this bad i bout a wii u from dk oldies ( the gamepad was defect ) they offered to send me a replacement and i asked can i just get a refund that day i got a return label and a return form to fill out i got my full refund within 10 days
