in this video, conure will be working on designing a new emote for site chat while arguing and debating against an unruly conservative chatter. they will be talking about whether capitalism is the best economic system, whether the ussr and communism failed, whether people should starve and go homeless if they can't pay for food and housing, why working class people support capitalist systems, fox news propaganda, who is winning the ukraine and russia war, how russia is invading ukraine for imperialist reasons, why republicans support russia, why student loan debt is immoral and hampers the ambitions and prospects of american, why education should be publicly funded and free to all citizens, why the government should spend money and do things to improve people's lives, why the welfare state is good, reasons why the food and drug administration (fda) has been less effective than it should be because of budget cuts from republicans, why universal healthcare is good and calling it big government tyranny is silly, why government corruption is made possible by conservative policies, differences between socialism and social democracy, why privatizing the veteran affairs administration (va) would be a horrible idea, why food insecurity exists in the richest country in the world, why its better for the government to run things instead of corporations, how taxes should work to benefit the people, why the super rich should be taxed more, why food and healthcare should be subsidized by the government, overlap between libertarians and fascist, anti-democratic ideas from libertarians, and much more!

@@CharlieApples Yup, the Nordic Countries are a very scary place to live! We have hardcore competition on reaching the top of the "Happiness Index"! Yes, the name is a bit silly, as it doesn’t actually measure happiness, but instead it takes various parameters such as safety, health, life expectancy, income inequality, social justice, psychological well being, social support, basic needs, education, access to nature, etc., and measure these, and then give a collected score! At the moment Finland is in the lead, but they just got a new government this year, so they will probably be number two or three next year! People bring up slow healthcare like it's a systemic issue when the elephant in the room is a matter of supply. More professionals, shorter waits. If it's actually paperwork problems then sure I agree we cut out some of the beaurocracy. If everyone in America had the money to pay for full treatment, the medical system would definitely be slowed down. People die for lack of treatment due to costs, not delays, but heaven forbid someone wealthy or powerful wait in line.

Community college should be free (100% state sponsored). No ifs or buts. Every adult should have the right to learn a trade of their choice and the freedom to change careers if they so desire. America's infrastructure and health care is horrible, having educated people will resolve these problems and strengthen the economy at the same time. Educated people are more productive, creative and less likely to experience poverty. Considering the number of studies over the decades that have demonstrated this fact, it is unethical to not support access to tax funded higher education.

You don't even need to cut any programs to cut military spending, just start actively monitoring where the money the government spends on that stuff goes. The whole idea of the "bigness" of a government is BS. South America proved this, with their incredibly austere governments still being able to brutally repress the population, while social democracies with massive deficits and budgets produce consistently better outcomes for their citizens.

Exactly this! The military itself has told congress that if they stop spending so much on vehicles that just rust away in boneyards, never used, (because the manufacturers said "they look cool and thus are totally needed trust us,") that like, they could reduce the budget, at least, or put that money into like anything else. As far as I know, the military people testifying to this weren't even arguing for that money to be spent on some other aspect of the military.

I always wonder why these people who are so concerned about taxes being theft never make the connection that, by that logic, *profits are theft too*. It value you produce for an entity which decides to keep a certain amount of it. The difference is, when we pay taxes we get, like... Roads, and fire-fighters, and schools, and libraries, etc. etc. When a company takes their profits from our earnings, we're just paying for their yachts and vacation homes and stock-buybacks.

Actually, it's funny, as I was listening to you tear this person a new one, I decided to do 15 min of research to calculate the "effective" tax rate for someone in the US vs. Sweden. The first thing I stated is that the quality of outcome has to be equal (i.e. equal care, higher education, etc.). I then picked an electrical engineer as the test case (as there is good information about salaries for engineers on the web). I would also point out that I made the engineer the sole breadearner for a family of 4. Here is a brief summary of what I got: US: Salary: $ 100,000 / yr. Federal, State, Local, & Sales taxes: $ 20,800 / yr (average across US) Student Loans: $ 4,800 / yr Health Care: $ 26,500 / yr (insurance, copays, & deductables) Quality Schooling for children: $ 24,000 / yr Total "effective" tax rate: ~76 % Funds after "effective taxes": $ 24,250 Sweden Salary: $ 40,500 / yr (equivalent) Federal State, Local, & Sales taxes: $ 16,600 / yr Student Loans: $ 0 / yr Health Care: $ 0 / yr (insurance, copays, & deductables) Quality Schooling for children: $ 0 / yr Total "effective" tax rate: ~ 41 % Funds after "effective taxes": $ 24,000 (equivalent) Of course, this is a gross oversimplification, but I think the point is easy to figure out.

Truly showing how scary we, forcing people to get easier opportunities for education, healthcare and solidarity with fellow Americans. Also I live in Europe and its not really slow, if you have emergencies you will get a doctor. Also Europeans go to the doctor twice as often as Americans, because everyone (I live in Germany) take routine visits seriously. That there is that high demand is a good sign, that people care about their physical and mental health. One of the biggest problems in healthcare is that there still is a private option, so some people are not interested in improving the system. The only reason to go to the US is because of some high-risk operations that the EU doesn't allow, like for some cancer patients. Those people often need to crowdfund the treatment in the USA, because its not financed. Funnily East Germans pretty much seem to agree that the GDR was horrible, but good on schooling, welfare and healthcare. Which makes sense because they are the main industries where there is market failiure (should be noted that the GDR was a garbage authoritarian state, that was doomed to fail and that should not be a model in any way, outside of the mentioned areas, but people even remember its socialized system fondly).

I was just propagandized into thinking that breaking down government as much as possible would like, destroy the powerbase of corporations? Yeah don't ask me lol its been over a decade since I changed my mind on all that) Part of what broke me out of that was learning about the concept of the hydraulic empire, a profit motivated government that uses a city with sole access to all the water in a desert region to utterly control everyone else. Made me realize, of course tyranny and profit motive dovetail. I also eventually put two and two together to realize that profit motive doesn't require monopoly to be oppressive, war lords are also profit motivated and they don't always have monopolies over a region, (in fact, the lack of complete control is often why they go to war and become war lords!)

Linus from Linus Tech Tips had a great explanation on why taxing wealthy people is good and trickle down economics doesn’t work. Basically you pay taxes on profit and not gross income. If you get more of your profit takes away then you are incentivized to spend more gross profit on your business to make more money. By reducing taxes you just encourage people to hoard wealth and not actually out it back into the economy.

@gorillaguerillaDK
@gorillaguerillaDK Жыл бұрын
@@Magnustopheles Well, in the country I currently live in, we do have issues, but a lot of it has to do with lack of staff, we need more nurses, doctors, and for various other core functions. Also, there’s been opened up for Private Hospitals getting some of the patients and receiving public funds! The problem is, there’s a fixed price a hospital receive, (private or public), and the money follows the patient. Now there’s only an X amount of doctors, so many of them both work private and public. The private sector pays better - and private hospitals can pick the easiest patients, and get just as much for let’s say a knee surgery, as the public hospital would get. This leaves the more complicated patients, (same knee surgery, but this patient has diabetes, severely obese, and has Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease), to the public sector, and these patients take more time, and cost more to operate. This practice has been undermining the healthcare sector! Also, as I mentioned, we lack healthcare professionals, and so does neighboring Norway, but Norway can attract Danish nurses because it pays better in Norway, and even better if a Nurse wanna go to Greenland and work 5-6 months a year. Now we try to recruit nurses and doctors elsewhere, but we have very high requirements, and the system dealing with applications is way too rigid, but we've been promised the politicians will look into this! Otherwise, the administrative sides is fairly efficient - yes, sometimes someone F up, and creates a scandal, but you know, it’s humans, and we try to find quick solutions when people make mistakes! But even the administrative errors when they happen, are often related to the lack of staff…. So if you know any well educated nurses, doctors, bio analysts, etc., who won’t mind learning a new language, (most Danes speak at least some English and will happily do so, but it’s still a requirement that newcomers who wanna work in our public sector take courses in Danish), then please feel free to send then our way…. 😜

17:15 Doesn’t Conure confuse communism for anarchism? Communism isn’t really moneyless, it just gives the working class freedom over it. Also, not every country pursuing a communist path have failed doing it (Burkina Faso under Thomas Sankara 1983 or Bolivia 2006 under Evo Morales for example), it’s just that the examples we were taught in school (USSR, China) weren’t the best representatives.

Communism structures things around the idea that workers should be making the decisions as a class. (For example, when Soviet Russia was first established, the "Soviets" from which it got its name were "worker councils," which working class people could be elected into by other working class people, though generally to be elected up into higher Soviets, one needed to be in a lower one, kind of like a bracketed tournament. that bracketed tournament nature is where the problems set in, it allowed the production of yet another career politician class and it produced yet another strict hierarchy. There have been anarchocommunist governments, though, like the one that existed in Ukraine prior to being invaded during one of the world wars that had established, under the anarchist black army, soviets that I guess weren't tiered --- I'm not so familiar with those, but I have heard that the Ukrainian soviet system that existed at that time was successful in many metrics, including reduced racial tensions as it eased the conflicts between industrial workers and agricultural workers that often dovetailed with racial strife.) Conure is promoting alternative forms of government that do have a strong eye towards working class rights, but don't necessarily do that. What they advocate for is a society that provides sufficient welfare and safety nets that, if Capitalist, could compensate for a lot of the social issues that plague Capitalist countries and cause the development of castes and stagnation, if I understand their position correctly. If I had to guess, Conure's position is probably more in the realm of social democrats or mainstream european socialist parties, neither of which are communist in nature. And in fact, Communists *have* had conflicts, even violent ones, with parties within these two spaces before.

"The government should not give us loans to go to school." I agree, I think college should be affordable, and public ones should be fully covered by government funds.

Sometimes i wonder if conservatives are the way they are because they've never experienced real hardships like poverty, starvation, homelessness, etc. because they never quite grasp just how desperate people can get and how hard simple things they take for granted can hit people.

The thing about government funded health care is that you don’t have to use it, like if you want you can still go private and get better and/or faster care the public care is for situations or people where that isn’t an option

@@cookiescraftscats Good thing Jesus isn’t president then. Jokes aside, that’s absolutely not what Jesus wanted. Jesus was not against taxes. Jesus even said to give everything you have to the needy and follow Him.
