Bruh I so appreciate this video. Two years ago after watching UCON vs South Carolina in the NCAAW womens tournament I started watching women's basketball. But this year I just can't because of the entitled attitude of the wnba players. Their is things the wnba can do to grow their fan base but because their attitudes are irrational rn I just can't bring myself to watch a sport with athletes that don't appreciate the MEN THAT ACTUALLY SEE THE TALENT AND VALUE OF THE WNBA

If you've ever played basketball at a park, you've played on a rim that's 9'10", 9'6", et cetera. it's not "re-learning the entire game," a shooter can shoot on a 7-foot hoop in a back yard or a 10-foot hoop in a gym, or a double-rim, with whatever ball... this is so stupid lol

A lot of them don't realize it but they are trying to prove something that no one cares about. WNBA players will never be physically more gifted than an NBA player at their peak and that's ok. The issue has never been because "you aren't as good as men I won't watch", it's that its unentertaining to watch you guys fail to try to prove something you'll never accomplish.

Since they play at the level of, an average at best, boys freshman high school basketball team.

That being said if I’m the NBA I’m lowering the rims no matter what wnba players like it or not. You see the nba and especially the nfl constantly making rule changes to better the game. Remember when the nfl changed how tackling should look and everyone thought it would kill the game cause everyone only knew how to tackle one way? What happened, players adapted, that’s what they will do if the rim is lowered.

It’s the vert that matters most. A 5’11 NBA player has a much higher vert than the equivalent WNBA player

They should lower to 8.5 or at least 9 feet because you have to take into account the difference of how high men can dunk compared to women. Also move the 3 point line just a bit closer and let the wear uniform similar to the volleyball uniform.

dunking isn't going to save the WNBA, it could help but it will not be the key to success, lets face it given a choice between watching an average NBA game and a WNBA game few would choose the WNBA.

Also most women are not jumping nearly as high in order to graze the rim let alone yam it for real even the 6'7+ players

They don't have the athleticism men do. Even if they could dunk or the rim was lowered it still does not gonna make any difference. Almost every 6'2 player can dunk in the NBA. None of the 6'2 or or taller players can dunk in the wnba. Athleticism is the problem not rim height.

Aces fan here and damn that's crazy 🤣. I watch the wnba and still want the rim lowered. They have good blocks with players like Wilson swatting shots almost every game, but dunks happen like once a year, and it's mostly from Griner.

Have you been to a game though? I've paid for tickets to go to WNBA games, have had a great time enjoying the games, and I will continue going. WNBA players are playing basketball at a level far above and beyond anything I could ever achieve. That in itself is already impressive to me. Plus, I just love the game of basketball and have never been stuck on the idea that there is only one way it should be played. To each their own though.

When I was in middle school my coach told me we were going to scrimmage the high school girls team that made state the year before. We destroyed them. It wasn’t even close. Opened my eyes a lot

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are no rec leagues where a team plays 40 games per regular season, or even 36 games per season. At their best, rec leagues might play half as many games per season. Agree. It isn't so much the act of dunking, it's the awesome athleticism the guys show. Jumping, speed, coordination-all greater than the women's.

Have you seen them do a free throw...? One player had the ball ready in her hands (no dribble, nothing) for 15-20 seconds then just shot super quick for no reason.

Most rims at parks and gyms aren't perfectly measured and people have no problem adjusting. It would take at most one off-season to transition and that would be something they could plan for when drafting a player.

Outdoor courts will vary about 4 inches. it takes a few warmup shots to get used to the variance. They could drop it to 9'6" easily. They players who already can dunk are going to be able to do more impressive dunks, the players who could almost dunk can now dunk. It's just a good solution.

Bruh, they are supposedly pros. You ADJUST. The WNBA already has a lot of whiffs and airballs as it is with the current rim height. Hell, if anything, it probably wouldn't change by that much in this regard. The players make it sound like they are being asked to relearn how to speak English or something.

Players adjust in about 5 minutes to the different rim heights they encounter on playgrounds.

Which is never going to happen unless women magically catch up to men in terms of physical ability. Women's sports, especially teamsports like basketball or football, are simply not as appealing because the players aren't capable of the same movements and plays.

An average wnba player being 5'11. Average standing reach would be 7'9. The average wnba vertical is 14 inches. That adds up to a vertical reach of 8'11. So it doesn't reach 9 feet. Also to dunk you would need to be about 2 inches over the rim so the target would be 9'2 for a basic dunk. So a lot of the wnba would not be able to dunk on 9 feet. I agree it should be even lower.

I used to play a lot of street, park, schoolyard ball and the rim heights were all over the place, mostly under 10'. You adjust in minutes. And that not even taking wind into account, uneven dribbling surfaces, etc. You adjust, you prevail, it's exciting. I've seen hundreds of pickup games more engaging than WNBA.

@@Trollificusv2 I understand that but the game changes if the women can then dunk tho, it makes taller players more useful/exciting if they can dunk and I understand you can adjust to certain net heights but when you practice pretty much every day, and trained for years shooting at a certain height of net, if you raise or lower that net you won’t be as efficient what you were used to, having 5 minutes to adjust or 5 months to adjust the season shooting efficiently would be down, maybe not in close baskets but more mid ranges and 3 point shots would be over shot more. Plus pickup is more exciting to watch the even some NBA games so Ofc it would be more exciting then WNBA

And like you said it would be more exciting if they could dunk. Making taller players more useful is just a reality of basketball. Name the top 10 NBA players of all time. No. That's lot logical at all. The criticism will be that women dunking is not AS impressive as men dunking....and that criticism will BE CORRECT. However, what WILL OBJECTIVELY be improved, is the EXCITEMENT factor of the WNBA. A WNBA highlight real of dunks and windmills and posters will OBJECTIVELY be more exciting and bring in views that the current WNBA does not. No one is saying the WNBA would be comparable to the NBA. Just that it will be more exciting then it currently is. Which it would be.

It s not about people thinking they finally do the things they do in NBA, as if in comparing the two groups of players. Lowering it literally opens a whole bunch of new facets to the game, which are objectively entertaining to watch. And there will always be haters, even now there are people that hate on Stephen Curry.

People will always find a way to mock . The idea of making the WNBA more interesting by lowering the rim is to make dunks and blocks more common. I don't see any issues except for the fact that WNBA players will have to practice to get used to the new height. But at the end of the day, if this brings more people into the sport, it will generate more revenue for WNBA players. Men and women are not equal physically, so it's unrealistic to expect them to dunk as often at the same height . If the Jordan brand features a photo of a dunk, it's not without reason; people loves dunks in basketball
