one thing i've found in the last couple years fishing heavy in these kinds of areas, if you find the big hogleg mullet around, the redfish are usually not far (a good sign). this doesn't hold true with small mullet all the time, just the big ones. great video as always

Love the skiff. I have the exact same setup on my J16. Reds and trout machine. You even get a free shower sometimes in rough waves lol. Yes, she is a wet ride sometimes but low maintenance.

Do you think you Mako would made it in this creek? I see you have a Carolina skiff now. Did you ever take you dads Jon boat out after your upgrades were installed

Mako yes but not at low tide. This is my buddies J16. Still got dads Jon boat. It’s not stable enough to make long runs in confidence. More of a winter creek and pond boat.

@@LowCountryFishing I have a question along these lines. I want to get a smaller boat for creeks like this that can get beat up and not worry about oyster rash. I was looking at a “Lowcountry Boats” 17’ X 54” aluminum boat with a mod-v. I know this is not a “dry boat” but just looking for a shallow water flats boat (maybe get second boat later that can handle rougher water). Do you think an aluminum boat this size will do well in creeks like this? Really close to pulling the trigger but I guess my worry is spooking fish. However these areas don’t have ripples on the water and should not cause the hull slap as many think…… that’s my thought. Boat will also have hydro turf. Would love to hear your thought on this. Thanks

@@timashmen a boat is a boat man. It doesn’t matter if it’s fiberglass aluminum or made of wood. It does one job and that is to float you on the water. There’s different quality aluminum boats out there that are comprised of thicker hull material that will stand up to more oyster abrasion, log strikes, etc. Just do your research on build quality. Yes metal boats are louder than fiberglass boats due to the materials used. But again do your research on boat, weight, draft, etc. You would be surprised to find that there are some very heavy metal boats out there that would reduce a lot of the slapping noise that lightweight metal boat produces. I personally do not like metal boats for saltwater application due to the amount of heat as well as the ride quality.
