Filling
½ stick Butter, melted
½ cup Sugar
2 Eggs
¾ can Evaporated Milk
2 cups Sweet Potato, cooked and mashed
2 tsp Vanilla
½ tsp Cinnamon
½ tsp Nutmeg
Pecan Topping Ingredients:
1 cup Brown Sugar, packed
½ stick Butter, melted
⅓ cup Flour
½ cup Pecans, chopped
½ cup Walnuts, chopped

Tip: Roasting/Baking the sweet potatoes will be more flavorful and easier to peel once cooled. Also, beating with a mixer instead of mashing will remove about 90% of the strings. They will get stuck in the beaters. The nutty topping makes it more like a sweet potato suffle in a pie crust.

I always bake my sweet potatoes as well and we used a mixed simply because it blends better and like you mentioned it removes the stringy texture.

I will make this pie when my cheesecake sweet potato pie is gone. It looks delicious. I always have so many sweet potatoes from my garden even during fall and early spring. Thank God my dog likes all the ends and scrapes. With a home garden , I do get 50% small ones.

Just to report back…the pie was such a hit!!! My son helped and my husband inhaled it. Thanks so much for sharing. We loved that the sweet potato mixture wasn’t overly sweet so the flavor shined through and the nuts 🤤 OMG They really set things off!!!! 🙌🏾

pecans are not a good move on a sweet potatoe pie or purist- unless an individual is a nut lover---- should just have the crust and sweet potatoes--- you can place ice cream- whipped cream- or some maple syrup on an individual basis ---- sweet potatoes should be the focus... you can always just eat some nuts and raisins later on

I lLOVE, LOVE, LOVE your videos. We have spent our married life eating my husband's sweet potato casserole or pie yet no one in the family has been able to tell us the recipe. We believe this is it. You uploaded this just in time! I just typed in a sweet potato pie recipe to make my own sweet potato pie from scratch for the first time and you uploaded this just today. I know I need to look no further for a recipe: Edit to say I followed this recipe all except for making the topping and I used pre made graham crust, for thanksgiving and it was a hit! A straight forward sweet potato pie recipe that makes the dish superbly. I also made a ricotta pie and peanut butter cream cheese pie for thanksgiving
