my husband and I just bought a small teardrop trailer, that I named D@T the Bumblebee, and I'm redecorating it. (Bohemian/eclectic) I live way too far away, lol, the Canadian Prairies to be exact, but seeing some reno'd tiny trailers would be super fun!!! Thanks for all the efforts you put into your episodes!! I love all of them.

I just realized what everyone has been saying; college is a scam. To charge amost 1600 for a room and 50 people sharing one bathroom. That's just ridiculous.

That University's prices have gone up to $2000-$5000 for any given dorm.

omg at my university in England I paid around £4000 ($5200) for an entire school year, and that's for a private single room. I had no idea it was that expensive in America

You two have the sweetest energies. :) For only having a dorm room to work with you guys nailed it!!! I think it was really smart that you laid it out at home first so you knew what it was going to be like when you moved to the dorm. You did an awesome job hiding the massive white brick walls!! haha Watching you two makes me really really miss my kids. They both moved away for school and never moved back. :( Granted by two moved back to where they were born cuz it feels like home for them. Best of luck in your studies and enjoy decorating your new apartment next year!!! Thanks for sharing your home. :)

Stay besties! You can have a long term friendship. Me & my bff have been ride or die since kindergarten we were only five years old. We are now 36 years old. Both of us are now married with children and still going strong. I love seeing women have long term friendships. Continued success to you both.

aww this was so sweet! I rented with my (now ex-) bestie and I understand what they say when they say leave as enemies. our "opposites attract" lifestyle didn't mesh well at al in a long term living situation. But hopefully these girls share a lot of similarities and have it mapped out.

$1,560 is a lot for that small of a room. But I'm assuming meal plan is included in that price. You can get a super nice apartment especially in SM for nearly $1,600.

I was also assuming meals are included because that is a LOT for a shared bedroom, and no living room or kitchen, You could share a studio apt for less in texas.

Most places it isn't actually included. My two years in a dorm were about $1000 per month per person (just one room for two people, no kitchen/bathroom), and even the cheapest meal plan was another $2,000 per semester. And I don't even live in an expensive state/area

They mentioned they are moving off campus to a 2br 2ba apartment for about $1280/month. That's pretty cheap.

SUNY at Stony brook was more like 3500 per person for semester WITHOUT meal plan.

Unfortunately, a school can require you to live on campus and then charge you an arm and a leg. Their prices are usually not trying to compete with the surrounding area because they don't have to

omg Butler hall! I lived there around 2010-2011. Pro-tips from a former student: don't eat @Jones dining hall, don't use the girls showers on the bottom floor in Butler (found black mold there once, dunno if they ever cleaned it out), make friends who live in other dorms/apartments on campus since Butler likes to test fire alarms during the night sometimes (usually they'll warn you when they do this), ALWAYS check the washers&dryers for crickets before you use them. Also Java on the Go is right across the street from Butler and is the most underrated coffee shop in town hands-down, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days to find free lunches at the churches on campus. Oh and TAs can definitely be bribed with meal swipes so save a few of those suckers for bargaining points (saying this as a former TA myself). Also "bobcat bumps" is a real thing...so be careful ;) Good luck girls!

My freshman dorm at Prairie View A&M was about $605 a month. My roommate and I had our own bathroom w/ a shower that separated our bed space. Soo lucky i didn’t have to deal with communal bathrooms.

I graduated from Texas State...but back then it was Southwest Texas State University! Lol I'm old! Love the river and river country! 💙I miss it so much! Loved living in San Marcos. I had a tiny apartment off Post road that was to me the best thing ever. Please take a dip in the river for me!

OMG. In Japan, they can rent a similar apartment room with a bathroom, kitchen, toilet and quiet neighbourhood for 300 - 400 bucks. This is exactly why I decided not to study abroad in the u.s. Education is too costly.

I actually live in San Marcos, TX. Near Bobcat stadium. I am not in college but it does make me feel good that people are giving this town more recognition. It's a great place to live and I am glad these two can live together cause some Bestfriendships tend to go sour sometimes when they choose to live together. It is actually cheap to live in some places in san marcos if you choose to stay here. My boyfriend and I and our dog live together in a one bed/one bath apartment and Rent is right under $600. And that's in total not each. So. I mean it's not bad and the space is decent. A little dated but decent. Anyways, I personally appreciate you giving this town a shout out it's a great place for everyone to go to college/fulfill your dreams, hangout, be outdoors/go to the river, for families and friends. Everyone. 😁🤙🏽

That's... A lot. I paid 210 Eur for a shared flat with kitchen and bathroom included. I shared with my bestie as well and we both had separate bedrooms.

Omgsh they’re paying more per month for one room than I pay for my half of my apartment lol. I live in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom in a gated community with amenities in Orlando and we pay $1,169 per month, meaning $584.50 per person.

DAMN. Ok so I know I am not living in the US but I pay about $450 + water and lights (+-$30) p/m for a 1 bedroom, full bath, full kitchen with a loft in a nice city. You could fit their shared space in my bedroom. That is unbelievably expensive

I love this series because it gives great snapshots of standards of living from around the country. This episode, with these kids talking about dorm life was a complete waste of time.
