I have read some WILD things on Reddit defending them, saying stuff like "it's just the way game companies make money now, deal with it and pay up or stay losing".

Microtransactions in video games piss me off. I can not imagine some idiot trying this in a D&D game. Being a DM myself, I'm just happy playing the game, why mess that up!?!

I respect his grindset. He saw a gap in the market, didn't realise why the gap was there and dove in deep. He was even willing to negotiate. Looking forward to the podcast. It will be funny when I see an ad on that channel before I ever see one on this channel.

The only version of micro transactions i would expect from a paid dm would be things like painted miniature to keep.

See that I would be okay with. "I hand painted this mini for the boss and you guys defeated him, if you want the mini for a souvenir just pay me for the cost and painting time, otherwise I'll just keep him on my shelf." Even that some people would take issue with, but it's at least a little bit more fair

If I'm going to even remotely tolerate micro transactions in a game or anything really, it HAS to meet all three of these rules. 1. The game is 100% free. I can complete the entire story, collect all the items (purely cosmetic items being a light exception if done correctly), do all the adventures and side quests with little to no hindrance, get all the achievements or trophies or advancements or whatever. Everything is available for free. Cause then micro transactions are the ONLY way its making any money at all if any. 2. Stay out of the way. If you're going to stop my game while I'm doing something or slow me down, all you've done is annoy me, and the more I'm annoyed the more likely I am to return the game and never play or recommend it again. You can take up a small space on my hub world, you can sit at the side of my screen but DON'T stop the action or take up most of the screen to advertise to me. 3. Be quiet. You start making constant noises to get my attention or worse start talking about all the "neat stuff" i could buy with zero prompting from me, and I'm again going to be annoyed. If the micro transactions follow all three of these I might throw a couple bucks their way if just for making a fun and enjoyable game. Enough rambling from me, I enjoy listening to your videos and looking forward to the podcast and future videos. Take Care!

I understand the pay to play part if I was a dm that got paid all I’d ask is 3 dollars but if you fucking do it and add ridiculous prices in the middle of the game just burn

I think micro transactions are great in game, for when you're playing dnd in dnd (yes, I have done that before), but using it for real life is truly insane.

Question about the podcast. Is it going to be a KZfaq only thing or will it be available to subscribe to in podcast players? I can't find it in Pocket Casts.

Great question! We don't have the first episode out yet, but when we do we're planning on releasing it on KZfaq and Spotify at the very least, and will be looking into other options as well. Not sure how far we'll go with it, but we will try to cover the major options!

so im not against a DM is who is well respected and is paid for there time, but that is just straight greed and not worth a single penny towards people like this dm in the story. If you want to charge people for yourself to proressionally DM to others set the price ahead of time with your players and dont deviate from that i can assure you that if you talk to your players that you might charge them to just get magic items or start quests that they are already paying for they will not like this and probably will not play your game, like a session zero this needs to be discussed ,and if the players agree to said price dont try swindling them after the fact as they are respecting your time by paying you for it and you should respect them for what they pay for. My own thoughts on if DM's should be paid is i dont care so long as its fair.

"As long as it's fair" I completely agree. If both sides are okay with the rate, that's great. But if you change things up, you're asking for problems
