This was a drink created solely to end a bartender's career. RIP Wayne.
**********************************
Cheers is a show that ran for eleven seasons and it seemed absolutely omnipresent in my childhood, you'd couldn't avoid it. Season 6 opens with a major reset: Sam Malone has sold his bar, sunk his boat, and come crawling back looking for a job. He wander's in to find that the whole place is changed, and Rebecca Howe is the new manager. He's desperate for work, and his old buddies want him back around the place, so they stage a bit of a hostile takeover to get the new bartender, Wayne, fired. enter the Screaming Viking, a drink completely made up that in no way exists prior to this scene, designed for the sole purpose of stumping the know-it-all bartender Wayne and getting him out the door. But still, there's something there: cucumber... viking... I can work with this.
Screaming Viking
5 or 6 slice of cucumber
.5 oz. or 15 ml. simple syrup
10 or 15 mint leaves
.5 oz. or 15 ml. Aperol
2 oz. or 60 ml. Akvavit
Muddle
Shake and Pour over a large ice cube
Top with Seltzer
garnish with mint and cucumber slices

This doesn't seem that "screaming", but does look delicious. I'm also seeing your Cheers reboot as the most meta show ever. Some father figure acting like an 80's sitcom character, and his kid being a more modern character. Greg Malone: "Why did you abondon me? WHY WON'T YOU LOVE ME?? WHY DO YOU HAVE A LAUGHTRACK?!" Sam: "Because I'm hilarious" *laughtrack* Greg: *looks around, trying to find where the laughtrack's coming from, steadily going mad*

This looks like a great drink recipe, but I think a drink called a Screaming Viking is begging to be made with mead as a base. Alternatively, it could be gin based, like it was invented in a pub by Englishmen who had a bone to pick with the Norse.

Mead based indeed, perhaps with junipers and something. They had juniper berries, mugworth,Labrador-tea,Yarrow , blueberry, cowberry and blackthorn berries if anyone wants to stay historically accurate ( around year 800 ). Labrador tea contains Ledol, its is a poisonous sesquiterpene that can cause cramps, paralysis, and delirium. Mugworth,yarrow and Labrador tea was and is used in Gruit, a style of beer that predates the use of hops.
@ppppppqqqppp
@ppppppqqqppp 4 жыл бұрын
I think making it mead based would be kind of weird it's sort of like, non-scandinavian meme stuff it'd be like assuming the only thing they have in scotland is scotch, or the only thing russia is vodka there's something a lot more respectful about using something that isn't mead. Besides, mead is really quite good when it's pretty basic.

Native dane, here. Taffel Akvavit - or "Rød Aalborg" (Red Aalborg) as it is known amongst friends is usually drunk, pure and ice cold along side a huge dinner, at christmas parties (not christmas eve but company/friends/chessclub etc. parties in weekends in december). People usually keep one bottle in the freezer and only bring it out at that time of year. Ps. Great vid, Greg. 10/10 would ask it to do weird things to the copy machine when the boss has left.

Maybe a bit of an obscure one from an anime I personally really like u should make a "Memento Mori" from Death Parade S1E11 apparently the name means "Remember that you must die" and it looks like a martini but... well the show takes place in like a purgatory so its like afterlife levels of good and also Blue. Seems like its up your ally

it should be noted, that every one that ordered a Screaming Viking took one sip and then spit it out after Rebecca was out of sight. So this should not be a tasty drink.

Don't know why I was allowed to watch a show about a bar as a kid, but I have fond memories of Cheers. Thanks for this video and tribute. I also watch a lot of MASH growing up. There's an episode where Hawkeye describes a particularly dry martini. Could you "make me that martini"?

One of the single best lines from the whole of TNG is Data about to pour a drink for Scotty who asks, "what is that?" Data looks at the label less bottle, smells it with a confused look, then starts pouring and says, "it is green."

Elias Gordon That is the Aldebarian Whiskey!! Picard comes to the Holodeck later in the episode and tells Scotty the name and then says, “Who do you think gave it to Gienen.” (I know I spelled her name wrong; Whoopi’s character)
