​​​@pengeybossa better way of looking at it is the lead car can only make one "racing" move while not under braking (the move has to be done before the braking zone). The following car can do anything he wants really except hit the guy in front. There's a little more to it but that's the 101 version.

Hey. I'm glad you enjoy watching. The HUD layout I used is from an app called Racelab. There's a free version of it available that will allow you to use similar layouts. Also, the guy you heard is another app called Crew Chief. It comes with a spotter and an engineer that will share info with you on laptimes, location of nearby drivers, track temps and much more. Hahaha. I've see a few people say this. However, doing this could potentially result in getting a ban and losing safety rating. When this happens it results in you not being able to participate in all the races available in iRacing which would be a shame considering its a monthly subscription game. Thanks for commenting

Nevermind, I found him. The "S" is his last name has a symbol over it. His first lap was the only valid one. Lap 2 was invalid due to an offtrack, and 3-5 were all black flags. Doesn't look like he's missed a day of recent races, I'm assuming they didn't do anything to him.

Hello. I did. My guess is that this was a first offence and they've issued a warning. I used to work for a game developer and when bans/warning were issued they would progressively get worse if the person was a repeat offender. Thanks for looking into the details.

@@Andymh5 makes sense. I wish they’d bump up the Ferrari series to C class. Or at least make another Ferrari open setup series for the higher license classes. It’s fun racing with all Ferraris but the carnage in that series is unreal

@RYVENANT It hasn't been bad for me at all apart from this instance. I've been having a lot of fun, but I want to change to GT3 racing for the next season. The recent Oran Park Raceway and Ferrari 488 combination was a challenge. I spent more time on the grass than on the tarmac haha.

Well observed. He went wide at the corner before that and received a time penalty. My guess is that he was trying to serve it while still trying to defend. They were black flagged on the following lap when they were weaving.

Some of the rules in Sim racing games are based on actual racing events and so many of the rules still apply. I don't think defending your position in this way is acceptable in some games as even Gran Turismos warns you about it before you head online. Think of it as Racing etiquette

Not a simracer myself, but I do enjoy racing games myself. (Its nowhere near the same, but I consistently place top 10% on FH5 monthly rivals.) But a big first thing is safety. Iracing is heavy realism sim based. So, taking precautions that'd be IRL safe would be a big thing. 16 just quickly weaves *multiple times* to block people, leaving only fractions of seconds to respond. And the main safe option is to slow down quickly. You don't? One or two cars are going to spin out of control. Cars are likely ruined for weeks on end for repairs for a shredded body or chassis damage. Drivers possibly getting concussions, and thats assuming its only those two involved. On top of a DNF, thats the team's pay on the line IRL. For Iracing, a monthly subscription game with a safety rating system. Races do have safety minimum locks. Guess what happens when both drivers involved lose SR points. Second is etiquette. If you can't out-drag a car in a straight, let them pass. If you can't pass by someone with only a small tap, probably best to not pass. Only way to win is spinning them out with a pit-maneuver? *Do. Not.* You lost; Accept it with grace. People won't make grudges against you for taking a loss in peace. Third is the long game. Fighting for positions slows you down, turning takes away power that can be used for going faster. If you aren't near podium, nowhere near striking distance to them, and its not the last two laps; You only give everyone ahead more leeway. You give up pressure that can lead to the people ahead making mistakes. You want to remain close to the people ahead to capitalize on their mistakes. That does sometimes mean that you give up a spot to draft train with someone else. Constantly sling-shotting each other to reel close to those ahead. Its why 11 didn't fight hard, and tucked into the slipstream when he got passed on the first lap. F for him, got forza'd at the next corner

Yes they are real people. They are usually volunteers that offer their time to give comms without being paid. In the past it has been known that some have been actual F1 team comms that just enjoy doing this in their spare time.

iRacing is one of the ultra realistic sims, the likes of Assetto Corsa and such. Driving around in it of itself isn't hard, but if you want to actually be competitive you need to behave like in a real world car, be very attentive and practice a lot

Technically yes, but you are to do so by not blocking or weaving. iRacing is a racing sim that inherits rules similar to IRL circuit racing series, such as F1, WEC, GT, etc, making blocking and weaving illegal. American racing series like Indycar and IMSA also use a similar rule. However, NASCAR and some stock car series do not. As @4ntl3r already mentioned, this is a PC game called iRacing. And yes, I do stream. I stream at random times at the minute but I'm hoping to get a regular schedule in place over the next few weeks.

Would you recommend it to someone who likes casual races, but likes to take it seriously? I don't like aggressive players like in the video, but I'm pretty good at passing people in the turns. I play Assetto Corsa, and AC:Competizione , is this a step up from those? I'm looking to find a non-aggressive casual competition. Is that level of immaturity not common ?

@@Greatest_Scott I’ve tried assetto corsa. It’s too fake. It’s like an arcade. Graphics realistic as you can get but driving it isn’t realistic. If you want to go to the track and practice on sim. Iracing is the way to go imo

You are fully NOT allowed to do that in GT3, Formula 1, or any other circuit racing. It's also written in the iRacing rules that it's not allowed, and is bannable if someone does it enough.

Standard rules in Motorsports for defending your position. You're allowed to make one move to prevent an overtake but you aren't allowed to weave all over the track like 16 did. In a real race that driver would have gotten the Black flag for driving like that.

@@GayMoist Yes, a black flag in racing means you're disqualified and iRacing is usually pretty strict when it comes to real racing rules and since its an Online service game you can actually get someones account suspended for a while, or at least barred from competing in ranked races, if too many complaints with matching evidence get send in.
