I watched my neighbors go on one of those and I was watching from the front row and my knees involuntarily buckled when they shot up and that’s when I learned I would never be able to go on one and then I saw videos like this one and I was like “i’m never going back to an amusement park EVER”

Yeah well, the MSM journalists aren't known for their intellect. I'm surprised the headline didn't call it a "Roller Coaster" (every amusement ride is called a roller coaster in the media... as if they have no idea there are different types of rides, and yes they always put a space between roller and coaster!). Though to be generous to them, the cable may as well have snapped considering it was not in use, for all intents and purposes.

@@heilmadon Provided they do what they are supposed to do, and clear the launch area before the ropes are tightened, then yes they are perfectly safe, even if the ride does malfunction and launch with only one rope.
