Not a single guest? Fake news! I stayed there this summer in the youth hostel. Just look for new videos about "Prora". Parts of the building have been used all the time and until now about 80% are restored. In 1944 there was a hospital inside, then the red army used it, since Prora is located on the island Ruegen, in the former Eastern Germany. The National People’s Army (NPA) of east germany had more than 10.000 soldiers stationed there, but also rest homes for there families where integrated. It was also used as a training center for the Volkspolizei (Police of East Germany). During that period some parts have been destroyed. Since the German reunification in 1990 it is a cultural heritage and being restored since. There are museums showing the history of this place, a youth hostel, hotels, retirement homes, shops, and a lot of luxury apartments for up to 1million Dollars. So if interested in history inform yourself and don`t just believe this video with no facts.

What an amazing business opportunity, with great views, hopefully one day it will be a world famous resort.

Damn, it's a shame that it was just left like that and nobody uses it because of its history. If it's history could be erased and the whole thing remodelled, it would have so much profit.

I was near the buildings on vacation with my grandpa and he told me my mom was there in the 70s as kid

They put all convicts/felons in that place with no renovations!

always remember that anything that could represent bad can be use for good if it's something that had really bad historical meaning can be use in a proper way to do good and help poeple we need to realize that's how you stand stronger by making sure a bad thing is understand and realize the potential to help poeple we need to talk about what it can become not what it was meant for you have to be strong not ferget but make a bad memory a good future for poeple that are unfortunate why not use it to do good and help poeple we need to help around the world

I have stayed there, there was a hostel there for years. Don't know if its still there though.

It was interesting to see in the photo at 0.51, that the pool furniture is still there...after all these years...out in the weather...for all those years...REALLY?

history has nothing to do with it. they will rebuilt it but it needs the right investors.

There’s some information missing. When you made this video some parts of this building were already reconstructed. The hotel opened in 2016 and people were already able to buy apartments in 2014. “Prora Solitaire”

The view will make it an easy sale. I would buy it in a heartbeat and turn it into an exclusive apartment complex of sorts.

I looked it up on Google and about half the building was converted into commercial units. There's a couple of restaurants in there. Another section was converted into a museum.

It's in Germany but much of the graffiti is English.

Where i live there is a housing shortage AND you can pay a G- note for a crappy 1-bedroom flat in a sketchy district. And all those hotel suites are vacant. SMH

There's a youth hostel in a part of it, I stayed there more than 20 years ago, so the title is a little bit misleading. Still, I they should do something with it, it's a great baltic beach.

It looks like they are expecting a wall of water to come in. It was built with sea level rise in mind and by the time it's done the sea will be right at the resort.

if only it didn't have the history it has and was refurbished and the building finished then it would be the most popular resort in the world I bet

Part of Prora was turned into a hostel, and it opened in 2011. Another part was turned into a luxury hotel.

I visited Prora some years ago, it has a nice beach but the buildings are very run down and it needs a thousand of investors to rebuild them. Or a really BIG investor maybe like Disney or so to build "Disney World Germany" with 10 thousand of rooms. Greetings from Germany TommyTulpe
