the key is buying equipment that saves you time and thus saves you money. If what you have makes you money, unless you plan to expand and need a different piece of equipment noi sense in upgrading. The key is looking into different revenue streams that will makes you money and help you grow.

@Tom, Ref the slurry separator When it rains the extra water will be dumped pre screen, so no need for the 20 grand version. The quantity of solids will remain the same, rain or no rain.
@adrianchetwynd1334
@adrianchetwynd1334 4 жыл бұрын
I presume that you have a holding pit that the separator draws from, if so and it does not have the capacity to cope with a heavy down pour, then its less expensive to make it larger, (or add another one) than to pay for the larger separator.

I'm not a farmer yet I really enjoyed learning about the available machinery and your interactions with salesmen. Having watched your farming videos I remember some of what you've said about your machines at home so was able to follow some of the technical talk. EX: the slurry silo mixer. ALWAYS BE LEARNING. Thanks for taking the time to share although I'm sorry you didn't get to see all you wanted to there.

All bits of kit you’d use well Tommo, you’d certainly get your money’s worth out of them over the next 10 years or so! Never understand how people can buy fancy bits of kit when they never utilised what they already had....but it’s fair to say you’ve had your money’s worth out your current machines 👍🏼

Watching your videos has really made me realise that the more things change, the more things stay the same. I love crafting, I love video games. I go to craft shows, I go to gaming events. The technical speak is different speak, but the "asking someone in the know about some fancy tool and how it works" is the same. People queuing up to meet their favourite KZfaqr is the same. It's comfortingly familiar. And as I'm sure I've said on your videos before, I love seeing other people's professions and crafts. The tools they use, their professional knowledge. It's fascinating!

Hi Tom Nice video 👌 Just in relation to the slurry separator/slurry tanker etc, could you look at reducing the amount of slurry generated on farm by maybe roofing more of the yards where slurry is, avoiding as much rain water from getting into slurry by maybe do simple things like fixing roofs, gutters, drains, etc?

Tom we have the larger of the Bauer separators you looked at which we use to produce green bedding, have you looked into that? They are expensive machines to run power wise and if the screens get damaged they cost a fortune but would still recommend them, they dirty water is far easier to put out than from a conventional seperator

Hi Tom, excellent video. You would be better to get a dripple bar with your new tanker, as of 2025 you will not be allowed to spread slurry by a splash plate. My brother has a Major tanker, he would recommend them.

Lo brother, soo many 4000L tankers coming through Lancaster today.. Guess someone's moving slurry in hopes the wet weather kind of sods off. No point spreading slurry on saturated ground.. Just washes off the surface and winds up in the River Lune and Morecambe Bay

When you start looking for a a new tractor you should take a look at a Zetor Proxima or Forterra. They are cheap reliable tractors with a lot of power and maneuverability. We have run a proxima 100 on a Mchale v660 with 15 knives in though thick alfalfa and it did very well for the size it is. idk what the dealers are like there but in Canada there decent.

Tom Antrobus Nonsense. We have been down the route with no conditioner and have went back.
