Hello. I am from a place in New England called Vermont. We always have grazed sheep and large herds of cows. This is the best way for living and raising children. As a young mother I carried all our water and washed by hand. We worked on the lands daily and were always healthy. Thank you.

My grandfather actually migrated from Sweden to Maine. I was born in Maine. My grandfather taught me everything I know about the woods. I have tried to carry that knowledge on to my children and now my grandchildren. I have always attributed my ability to survive and my strength to my grandfather. I loved and admired in every way. I truly enjoyed watching your family. I to always wanted to live in the alagash which was a uncharted wilderness in northern Maine. I still day dream of being there to this day.

Growing up poor on a farm I learned to pray when it was butchering time and say thanks before I ate for the life given to sustain ours. My job was to hold the chickens when mother chopped their heads. If you decide to eat meat, you can do it in a humane and loving way. I may have cried eating some pet animals but I was always thankful for food. Beautiful video, looking forward to safe improvements that take advantage of modern knowledge for building and improving your lives.

For a long time I dreamt of moving in to my cabin in Norway. Now that that’s a reality I dream of having a farm. A farm with sheep, cows and chickens. The only issue is that I could never butcher them, and when the butcher comes to take the animals I could not know about it. 😅 For now I’m hoping I can help some of my neighbors with their farm animals. Next year I’m hoping to build a greenhouse to get some more food from the garden. This year we only had herbs and tomatoes. Thank you for yet another beautiful video Kalle! ❤️🌲

@@HannahWestsea I am so glad to hear that people starts to question where their food comes from and how it is produced! Here are some thoughts. You still would need to manage your herd, you're going to run into problems with too many roosters, too many rams or too many bulls and if one doesn't cull them everything is going to be a disaster. There is nothing wrong with butchering ones own food, especially from animals one has raised and loved. In nature, nothing lives without death. There is no hierarchy - we are all in an interconnected cycle of which death is a completely normal part. We simply cannot have life without death. Concider this: A peasant becomes fond of his pig and is glad to salt away its pork. What is significant, and is so difficult for the urban stranger to understand, is that the two statements are connected by an and not by a but. This is one of the best short videos everyone that eats needs to watch: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jL-EndqByLSpk6s.html /Mathias

I know some people in New Zealand that"swop" their cattle with friends. So when time has come to butcher them, the meet of their cows goes to their friends and vice versa. In that way they don't eat their own beloved animals.

The challenges living off grid as you say takes time. We live in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, but we have power. Our age has changed what our perspective on how we want to live. Buffalo House- Like you we live in the woods of New Hampshire and have power. That said, we built our farm cottage to be both on or off-grid. Electricity is reasonable here, but if that changes, it will not be a hardship to light the kitchen wood stove and our oil lamps. We would need a deep well hand pump, but otherwise good to live off-grid and be ok. We are grateful to be sheltered away during this pandemic and live close to the land ~ Diane

Thank you for another view of a family that I have been following for the past year. In the early 1970s I lived a similar homesteading lifestyle on one of the Gulf Islands on the coast of British Columbia, Canada: no running water, no electricity, raising goats, chickens and sheep. Now in my 70s, I follow several 'back to the land' homesteading sites. One in particular and who seems to be a leader in this chosen lifestyle is Justin Rhodes who lives in North Carolina. What viewing these people has impressed upon me is the real need and commitment to 'partnership. Without it, is failure. I admire the couples who have made sober commitment to this lifestyle. It really is the superior choice in living a balanced life anywhere on our beautiful Earth. Sincerely, Sharon Penneyford, Victoria, BC, Canada🐝🐝🍀

Best crossover in the "nordic youtubers" section ever. It's obvious that your video quality is outstanding but I want to mention it anyway. There are so many details in the way you produce your videos, like fact that the dynamic range in the fire scenes is so good. I just love it when you can see all the details in the flame and still have a bright enough surrounding, although I often fail to achieve that look myself 🤣 But these are things I always notice and like a lot.

Kalle, your videos are very important to me. I live alone as you used to. Sadly I am not in a cabin in a rural area but a brick built bungalow in a town, and it might sound strange, but it is just as lonely. I like my own company now and keep busy with creative projects, painting, drawing, crocheting hand made blankets in mosaic style. Sadly I am not self sufficient, but making good food with organic produce is important. I am disabled and unable to garden or grow my own things, and as much as I would love to isolate myself in rural place, it is not possible. That is where you and your videos come in to my life. Inspiring me to go on with my life as it is, and to see a young couple living their dream and sharing it, so thank you 🙏 to both of you. Merry Christmas 🎄

Your message about Things in Life that take time to realize , bringing joy in life, touched me a lot. That's going totally in the opposite way we have been trained to live, but it sounds really much more enjoyable. Greetings to you and Christine. Love the idea of women Circle. 💚

So, I was watching one of Jonna's video and the phone rang so I had left the video running while I was on the phone and I came back out and Kalle's video was on but with Ivar staring at me! lol I thought, hey, I know this little cutie. I had to read the title to figure out my confusion. Anyhow, yes, I follow all three of your channels and I wish you all the best. I am in Florida, born and raised, never even seen snow except for a few flurries that melted before they hit the ground. That is why I gravitated to your channels to begin with was the snow. Now I just enjoy them because you are all wonderful people. Have a good day!

I am so delighted to see that you and Mathias have met and it would appear you had a lot in common and the young ladies as well. I thought it when Kalle, said that you don’t always have to agree on everything but still can be friends and be with your tribe, he hit the nail on the head so to speak. Thank you for yet another beautiful video Kalle! Greetings from the UK. Have a loveely day.

What a lovely video! It's really so inspiring that they had no knowledge of homesteading prior to moving there. I also love that outdoor kitchen, it's now a goal of mine to have one when I own land 😊 This was a really good and necessary reminder for me to slow down and be present 🌲

Beautiful athmosphere .... I love when people follow their own path, their heart's dream ... Thank you for the inspiration! Perhaps this lifestyle doesn't suit everyone, but what this video does, is that it inspires people to listen to their inner voice, telling them how their innermost being wishes to live ... I mean, no matter where we live, it is possible to create inner beauty. At least, that is my experience.

I do enjoy watching these videos from various “youtubers “ about simplifying lives and living in nature appreciating her terms - adjusting our pace. A lot of people seem to be longing for a change in their current lifestyle; wanting to get out of the rat race. However, we viewers should remember that watching someone’s video is not life - it is a collage they choose to show. All of us cannot for various reasons move into remote cottages and live off the land BUT we can practice a mental state of “Talasbuan”/“Kalle Flodin”/“Jonna” etc in our everyday lives wherever we live and whatever we do. It’s about stopping in the midst of it all and breathing, seeing the beauty around in both both nature and people, appreciating what we have rather than thinking we are lacking, being kind to ourselves and others, saying thanks and asking how can I help. Accepting that we need help and support.I wish all of you the very best in finding your own “Talasbuan”❤️🙏🏻

I remember when you went to visit Mathis’s and his family. I have been watching them for a long time now. They both are EXTREMELY hard working individuals. They may have several unfinished projects, but they never stop working…I have so very much respect for both of them. It’s like you said…everything takes time. There projects are HUGE for just two people, then when you include everyday chores on top of it!😳 it’s definitely a young persons like style. I get exhausted just watching them!🤣. The effort also when they create their vlogs is magical. The time put into filming and editing, well you know. It’s consuming! Thank you for your vlog, it’s love. Wishing you continued happiness and health.

Another wonderful video. I loved how totally real this was. A true insight into their lives which you made me feel part of. I loved the little one playing in the background, whilst you were interviewing. What really spoke to me was about moving as an adult, to a new area and not knowing anyone but finding your tribe. I am currently in this situation and truly hope I find some like minded souls. Thank you x

Don't sweat the unfinished projects. There will always be unfinished projects. Down the line the projects you got done years ago will need refinishing. We've had our home for about 24 years. The first project we tackled was the kitchen. Now, we desperately need to redo it. The tiles are worn, the cabinets need refacing, appliances need to be replaced...etc. The key is not to feel defeated. Just do your best, and take one day at a time, and work on the most pressing projects. You'll get there. The great thing is that you are documenting everything, and one day, you can look back and see how far you've come. You are so inspiring! Keep up the good work. Sharing on Tova and Mattias' channel too!

To me as a viewer of this channel, it shows me insight into how other factions of the world exist. Not in a purely dramatical sense but how we co-exist in our own little areas and how we interact with what can be a daunting relationship meeting and interacting with new friends. This past pandemic I have have lost so many good friends, too many to state on here and in my own way I take time to reflect on their lifestyles and how we interacted together. Life is hard, no matter how we see one another and what aspects of life we try to overcome.
