I did my primary training out of Teterboro back in the '90s, flying the Hudson VFR corridor all the time. When you fly it all the time, you start to take it for granted. It's one of the greatest VFR flights you can do.

Very true I fly down from Trenton to the corridor like every weekend or other weekend, amazing for people seeing it the first time, but flying all the time you take it for granted.

Some people get emotional during the love scenes in RomComs, for me it was the Hudson River Corridor scenes in this KZfaq from Aviation 101 Films! I haven't flown the "corridor" in over 20 years. I used to fly it regularly in the right seat of my dear friend's Cherokee when I was responsible for the radios so he could concentrate on flying. Of course, I would regularly call out "Cherokee Northbound Abeam the Twin Towers," which is an image I will never forget nor ever see again. Thank you Josh for these wonderful films. As a new member of the CC, I look forward to more content, live hangouts, and learning more about Flying from you.

Made the trip many times between KHEG (Herlong in Jacksonville FL) to Danbury CT (KDXR) in my 1979 M20K N39MG. Great traveling machine. We frequently flew over the top of NYC at 7,500. My co-owner Phillip made the trip home once non-stop burning 55 gallons in 5 hours, departed KHEG at 9am landing KDXR at 2pm. Winds were light. I relocated to JAX in 2002 and we kept the partnership going another 8 years. We sold N39MG to a buyer from Argentina in 2010.

I learned to fly at KMJX. Used to be known as Robert J Miller Airpark. Brings back many fond memories. The Hudson River VFR Corridor was a favorite sightseeing trip for many passengers. One such trip was Sunday, September 9, 2001. I didn’t know at the time that it would be the last time that I would be able to see the magnificent sight of the Twin Towers.

From the first opening moments of the Intro, my thoughts were, Wow how Incredibly Cinematic! I have been a long time fan of yours, from nearly the beginning. I have seen your editing skills just continue to grow. You have always been a great story teller. It's wonderful to see how well you capture the moments. You were one of the people who inspired me to start rolling cameras on my flights. As a fellow aviator, and budding creator I know how difficult it is to to manage the flying, capturing and then produce what all these people see. My hat is off to you Sir. Keep up the great work and someday I hope to meet you in person.

Love the flight. I'm a pilot(not current) and had a landing at Toms River...nice runway. I also flew the "corridor" many times...way before all the restrictions and when the WTC was within my visuals. It never gets boring and is always a sight to see. By the way the crow flies, when you were about a half mile from the GW and if you hung a 90º to the west, you'd be enroute to Teterboro and fly right over my house. Next time I see a Mooney, I'll wave. Safe flying.

Thoughts on motion sickness. Closing eyes and moving your head off axis is not helpful. Motion sickness is the result of visual and inner ear not matching up. Keeping eyes on the horizon and head aligned with the plane (and close to the CoG if possible) will reduce those discrepancies.

In physics, there's no such thing as "deceleration". The term "deceleration" was invented by English majors to describe a concept they didn't fully understand. There is only acceleration in different directions. At t=0 when the banana peel is initially released (assuming that you don't throw it, just let it go), it won't be moving relative to the airplane. The wind component is negligible in the vertical direction, so we can just assume that the peel would accelerate downward at 9.8 m/s/s. Now, the distance between the window opening and the wing looks to be about half a meter or so. This gives us a fall time of about 0.14 seconds before the peel reaches the level of the wings. The Mooney has a chord length of about 1.5m. The window looks pretty close to even with the leading edge of the wing, which means the peel would need to accelerate rearward at a minimum of 153 m/s/s, or at about 15.6g, in order to clear the trailing edge. According to various sources, the mass of a typical banana peel is between 30 and 60 grams, so I'm going to use 45 grams as the average. This means that the wind would need to exert a minimum of 7N on the banana peel to accelerate it enough to miss the wing. Now, unfortunately, this is the part where Google starts to fail me. Can you believe that I couldn't find even *one* source for the drag coefficient of a banana peel? And, unfortunately, I have neither a banana peel to test experimentally, nor a wind tunnel to do the test in. However, I can say that 7N is a pretty small amount of force. It's about the weight a first-generation iPad Pro. I can say with some certainty that 74 m/s (144 kts, the cruising speed of a Mooney) of wind would produce more force than that, and so, the banana peel would definitely miss the wing. (Nyfb, gb gur varivgnoyr sybbq bs pbzzragf gung "z-fynfu-f-fynfu-f" qbrfa'g rdhny "zrgref cre frpbaq fdhnerq", cyrnfr tb onpx naq eryrnea onfvp nytroen.)

CPC! Best fuel prices on the eastern seaboard. Great video! You were in my neck of the woods for this one. The flight up the Hudson River is one that I do all the time, as the cirrus I fly is based at LDJ. It never gets old! Next time you get a chance to fly the Hudson, ask atc for the “skyline route.” Yes, you’ll be flying a little higher, at 1500’ but it keeps you away from most of the helicopter and fixed wing traffic in the corridor and you’ll be talking to EWR and LGA tower who are really good about calling out other traffic for you...makes for a more relaxing experience and the view is just as good! When you’re next in the NYC area, fly the Hudson River corridor at night; NYC is lit up like a gem!

Regarding the question about throwing the banana out of the Windwow... As a sail plane pilot we do that often with our "peeing bags" (of course not closed so it will empty itself midair instead of acting like a water bomb). So I can totally confirm your answer, Josh ^^ But be aware that it might hit and stick to the horizontal stab😅

I park my new plane next to a movie star (Arnaldo) here at Kissimmee, I am not worthy!!! lol If you keep coming down here to fly with him perhaps I'll run into you at that hangar. Keep having fun and doing these trips, once you get married and have kids that all seems to be taken away little by little. Love it!
