2 жыл бұрынOne of the first things Story said after Typhoon Odette was 'There's no more Christmas'. But this Filipino family saved the day by giving us a sense of normality. Big thank you to the Alvarezz's for allowing us to celebrate Xmas as a family in their beautiful hotel. We will never forget this.
Our names are Jmayel, Sacha & Story. We traveled to Siargao island with Jmayel's mum & Story's grandma just before the Global pandemic that sent the whole planet into quarantine. We got stranded for months and fell in love with island life, now we want to make that life more permanent.

@@dantesalazar7805 Thank you for clarifying po. I gathered from the full name that he has Arab blood po. My grandfather has the same name as Kuya Jay po, just a different variation in English spelling. That's why po, being half-Pinoy has taught me that appreciating people for who they are is the key to peace of mind, and not base it where their passports or parents come from, or color of skin or religion or gender.

If you do decide to stay in Siargao, you now have the great advantage of knowing what it is like to have a storm like Odette and therefore prepare for it appropriately. I noted that your house did not lose its roof. That is a positive thing. But now I am sure Jay will be challenged to think of how to come up with a house that is typhoon proof... Glad to see the family recovering their spirits; this is what many Filipinos go through in their lives...

Truth hurts right?.. its been more than 2 weeks of them updating 😅 and complaining about stuff thats already obvious like no electricity, water and signal and bad living conditions lol. So happy you received this love from the Las Palmas family . We recently went through severe riots here In Durban ,SA, and eventhough it was so frightening ,the response and unified rebuilding from the people 'on the ground' was so heartwarming. Hi guys, I’m a new subscriber( since Odette!) and I already feel like I’m part of your journey/struggle … although I’m from Cebu, it was the right decision not to go to Cebu ( if you’ve never been and new to the province) it is also devastated and have bigger struggles than Siargao. Mindanao would be a better bet, if you know somebody , however if things don’t pan out there… I am offering a place in our house in Panglao, Bohol … it’s newly built, has a second floor with 3 en-suite rooms and my husband who lives alone in the main floor…he was supposed to come back to Toronto last 12/19th but obviously had to stay back for needed ( cosmetic repairs, thank God!) Let me know if this is something you could be open to and we’ll see what we can work out… ( for free😌!)

Happy family. The resilience resonates. My mom would always say, It's Christmas Everyday, that's why she nicknamed me ICE. Story is precious! I started watching your videos when you lived in Portugal and she wasn’t even 2 yet (cried my eyes out with the birth vlog) It’s amazing to see her blossoming and how during such a difficult time she’s still herself. Story is so appreciative of every little thing. Such a joy watching a child her age opening a present and oohing and wowing on everything. Most kids would open up presents and if it is not a gadget, would just toss the present aside. Great job on raising her❤️. Yes stay little bit more days there, so you may think hindred times whats your plans. People around are still kind treating you so good. I knew you people there are figjters, tough and resilient and were pretty sure that when siargao rise? It will be much good, better and much more beautiful than before!
