I'm a Bisaya native from Davao City and I can speak Indonesian a little bit. Here are some similar words ~ And this is the Bisaya (Cebuano) spoken in my place or ones I grew up with that has similarity to Bahasa Sug (Tausug) and Hiligaynon~ Bisaya - Indonesian Some pronouns Ako - Aku Ikaw - Kau/Engkau/Kamu/Anda (basically they have many words for "you") Siya - Dia Kita - Kita Kami - Kami Some more words Lumba - Lomba Utang - Hutang Bayad - Bayar Mahal - Mahal Mura - Murah Bangko - Bangku Pulo - Pulau Anak - Anak Hangin - Angin Atop - Atap Dingding - Dinding Bugas - Beras Buaya - Buaya Mangadji - Pengadji Buhat - Buat Dalan - Jalan Kabaw - Kerbaw Sala - Salah Pahiyom - Senyum Tanom - Tanam Kasing - Gasing Sama - Sama Katawa - Ketawa Cahaya - Kahayag And many more, so to Bisaya people like me, if you want to learn another language, that is easy to pronounce and has an easy grammar structure, you can learn Indonesian 😊 I know we have many Spanish vocabularies but Spanish grammar is a little bit confusing particularly with conjugations ~

As an Aussie married to a Filipina grandmother from Northern Mindanao and living there for nearly five years I've noticed that the their are many similarities between Bisaya and Indonesian. So much so that I can sing in Indonesian and understand a lot of the meaning of the songs. One thing that interested me was that there are even some words in Indonesian that are similar to Tagalog. For example, in Tagalog "sinta" is "darling", "beloved", while in Indonesian "cinta" (pronounced "chin-ta") means "love". My wife is Higaonon, and the Higaonon Binukid language is different to Bisaya, but shares some common words and grammar and also has words identical to Tagalog in meaning, like "asu" for "dog". I haven't studied Indonesian grammar so I'm not sure exactly how much is similar to Bisaya or Tagalog.

We've been to BALI INDONESIA last month, that's true some of their words are similar to us Bisaya,...Mindanao was not totally colonized by the Spaniards that's why you cannot see old churches here, unlike Visayas and Luzon. During the colonial period most of the Pilipinos in Luzon and Visayas were slaughtered by the occupants, they cannot do that here in MINDANAO because the Sultanate system here was strong and solid. Maybe with that Mindanaoan and Indonesian have a lot of similarities.

Bahasa is more similar to KAPAMPANGAN than to BISAYA. Most of their words are similar with little, very little difference. Like ANAM is also ANAM (6) in Kapampangan. Sepuloh (10) is Apulo, Dua (2) is Adua. Gule (vegetable) is Gule, Sabo (soup) is Sabo. And many other things. Found this on my visit to Batam, an Indonesian island off Singapore sometime 2019.

Hiligaynon, Kinaray-a, Bisaya have lots of similar word to Bahasa... It's no wonder, before the Spaniards came, Bornean Datu came over and settled in Panay Island.

Actually in pre historic years some natives from malaysia and indonesia migrated from the philippines in and somehow share some culture but later it was influence by colonizers so yes there's a distinct similarities on the language

There's a lot of filipinos who hates it when mixed breed or half filipinas win beauty crowns in the country.. they are clamoring that 'pure filipinas' should represent the country abroad. What they didn't realize is that the ' Asian filipino look' actually are features inherited from foreigners too. Our neighbors from the Malay Peninsula, Malaysians and Indonesians, had been cohibiting with our natives (dark, curly haired, short, flat nosed) long before the Spaniards colonized the Philippines. Which means if a filipino doesn't have an aita look, but possesses a Malay Asian features, he/she doesn't have the right to bully mixed blooded filipinos because he/she also is a mixed blood from earlier generations down the line to present.

@@pingyu5141 Oh i know that issue... it was the pageants admins who were opposed to the mixed breed contestants, I mean why would we hate those people who would compete and brought honor and glory to our country, even remember Pia Wurtzbach on stage with her swimsuit.. aaah her momentum is just amazing back then... and then years later Catriona Grey...

@@firmmannet4481 Correct! I'm only 1/4 filipino, my european descent is clear from my features. Being born in the Philippines, with my heart and soul i consider myself filipino. And have all the rights of a filipino citizen like all the rest.

If you go back to Philippine history, one of the roots/ancestors of Filipinos were the Indonese and Malays. They came to the Philippines through the land bridge that connects Philippines to other areas of Asia. 👍
