Nope it's a lockable blade. As far as I'm concerned a fixed blade does NOT hinge and there should be a tang fixed into the handle in whole or in part.

The lock is there for legal reasons, in many states/countries you get in far worse trouble if you stab someone with a switch blade than a solid one. Solid one indicates heat of the moment while switch blade requires intent...
@jacobgould8316

@smokeonthewater haha I'm not saying the law doesn't make sense, I'm saying you don't! Laws when initially being created have to make sense to at least a few people in order to be passed. Also the law was made before this knife is what you're saying and that's why "for legal reasons" they created this lock, which is what does not add up
@smokeonthewater5287
@smokeonthewater5287 Жыл бұрын
@@jacobgould8316 Well of course the lock serves a dual purpose. Firstly it prevents the blade from flipping to closed position when you use it, making it safer to operate. And secondly, if the knife is in locked position you can always argue in court that it was already open and you grabbed it in the heat of the moment.

If anyone calls this a fixed blade, I will personally castrate them as punishment. No, this is not a fixed blade. Fixed blade designs are designed to be sturdier with a tang, full handle, sheathes for carry, and can get away with much more length. That’s why there are classifications for knives. Fixed knives have a tang and don’t move, examples are the K-Bar, Karambit, hunting knives, dirks/daggers, and by technicality, swords. Switchblades are spring powered knives and not like gravity knives that require the use of gravitational force. Already explained gravity knives just a moment ago. Flip knives can either flick out in their own or require the use of your finger to lock it in place at a final position. Usually less sturdy than fixed blade designs, but are often smaller, fairly secure, and best for the average Joe. And the butterfly knife is just a knife that has to be flipped out and is generally more of a trick knife than a practical knife.
