People wouldn’t have to use this tool if the livery editor wasn’t so difficult. The problem is that creating a livery is so painstakingly long and difficult that it makes players just want to find an easier way to make a cool livery without having to add 300 circles on top of each other just to make a certain design.

I think it's totally fine. The people arguing against it are usually of the mindset of "I suffered, so they should have to as well" which isn't very productive.

I feel like instead of banning people from having an 'unfair advantage' devs should look at it as a 'ease of life' thing where they can actually let people import picture on both Xbox and pc. This unfair advantage does not give people an unfair advantage in the gameplay like a speed mod or credits mod. Just let people have some ease not everyone can spend hundreds of hours learning one thing in a game with 1000 things to learn.

This tool should be something implemented in the game. It allows for more creativity and people would spend less time doing one single logo. The livery editor in Forza is prehistoric. It is almost the same since Motorsport 2

They will ban you if they find out you used it, this is an old story btw... I remember watching a video about this like a year ago, where there was an argument, that the Forza devs actually stated that using any mods for example painter tool is 100% bannable, however at the same time they also showed liveries on their forza monthly series which were knownly designed using the tool.

If the developers made a web app for importing images, same as GT7 as you mentioned, it would be accessible to console players. Even if you don't have a PC, you could do it from your phone

As an xbox player I actually love that someone at least has access to tools like this so we can have all these crazy liveries. Why people would complain about it is beyond me, if they don't want to use the program they're more than able to do it the old way 👍

The other thing about this tool too is you still have to have Photoshop skills to make something crazy cool looking. Sure, majority of people will just probably take something off of google images... But with a tool like this, you could covert other games liveries so easily. I don't see the issue. Games as far back as 2007 nearly had better methods of in game car painting than forza horizon 5 has. NOT allowing this tool stifles creativity You know what I'm good at? Photoshop because of my job. You know what I'm bad at? Forza livery creator. Let me make something and just upload it like GT does

I agreed with the upgraded paint booth so the proper artist can do what they want. And the ones with some artistic skill can mix the technology and the original design that are in the game.

Battlefield 4 used to have a cool thing for creating logos (when it was launched from web page). it operated also on basic and more andvanced shapes but had built in function that allowed you to input code or file (i can't remember) of logo that someone else did and use it and even edit it on each shape used level

As part of a solution to the “livery tool” problem, I think there’s an easy solution: give vinyl creators the option to allow their shared vinyls to be repurposed in other people’s shared liveries. That should be a quick button click when choosing to share a vinyl. For example: “Do you want to allow this vinyl to be used in other people’s shared liveries - yes/no?” It would be great if people could use some of the logos I’ve made in liveries that they can also share. I’m not protective of the logos I’ve made and I’ve seen bunches of great liveries made by people who can’t share said liveries because they used someone else’s vinyls. I’ve also seen some great liveries out there with poorly-designed logos and, in my opinion, their liveries would look a lot better if they could use one of the more accurate logos that I created. Would be great to see this in future games.

Image importing seems pretty cool. I would support that as an option, maybe make some designation for liveries or paint groups made using tools like that to make a distinction between liveries that people made bit by bit and liveries that use imported images.

I think this tool is just fine, cause not everyone has thousands of hours to dump into a R A C I N G game in the livery designer alone.

What if they made a custom font option where players could create a font for making a livery, and they could adjust every typographical setting if they wanted to?

I most certainly would like the devs to create a decal-creator tool similar to the likes of FH5 Painter Tool or GT Sport & GT7's decal import tool. It can be tough to design a good livery in a limited time, and these would help speed things up for rookie and veteran designers alike.

I get both sides of the story. I think they should have something like this normally available if possible BUT if you do everything from scratch you should get some sort of credit bonus from downloads, or even just a clarifying title so the proper credit is due

Some people have actual jobs and don't have the hours to put in to complex paint jobs. I like the idea.

I think the devs should introduce this tool in the game and allow pc players to make private and public vinyls which console players can add to their car, while still being able to publish their design despite using someone else’s vinyl.

Honestly, idk why people (including some of the devs I think) dislike this tool, like if I want to make a car with a redbull logo and then publsih it I'd have to spend so much time disigning the logo while with this tool it takes a couple of minutes.

As a fairly popular forza horizon 5 livery creator (FLX 36), i really see this tool as a wakeup call for the developers to update the current livery creator. I have spend hours on recreating logos and images in game and i really enjoy doing that but ti be honest at the moment it gets a bit boring and i cant be that creative cuz the projects in my head are just way to hard to realize in game cuz of the livery editors limits. I just hope for an update where you can import images straight into fh5 like in gran tourismo. And i dont think anyone should be banned for using this tool, let the people be creative.

Getting banned for using a painting tool as opposed to actual cheaters using grip and speed hacks. Great game . Great game.

As you said, maybe it will take away from art of making individual pieces of livery, but at the end of the day you still have to place them to creat art, the final product. For me making a livery using this programme, or "legal" version of it would be like assembling a jigsaw from premade puzzles.

It saves a lot of time, but not the most layer efficient, especially for simple looking logos. It’s best for recreating some complex images. The most time consuming part of creating a livery is definitely the recreation of vinyl parts and it would be great to see a revamp to the system. I did hear the developers are working on an update to improve the layer efficiency. On the side-note, I wish we can apply vinyls on windows, a higher layer limit and better mapping on cars. It is stupid when you want to apply a logo on the spoiler of a car to see the logo phrasing through the spoiler, and duplicating itself onto the rear bumper.

i found this tool about a month ago, and I actually use it for a different purpose... There is also function/option to export existing vinly group from the game into json file, that can be then imported by someone else... I personally still want to create all my logos by hand (I kinda enjoy it, for me it's anti-stress thing to do), but I'm happy to share them with anyone interested... and then those people don't have the issue with locked livery and they can still share it... (and I like to think this is how more cool liveries could be created)

Yea, I agree with your statement about the paint and details shop. It could use an update, been the same for a long while.

As an old school livery artist from the start and someone folks reach out to regularly on the topic of this tool i got two cents ill put in. On the inclusion of this tool within the construct of livery editing/creating i dont care one way or the other if it gets implemented. The only stipulations i think the game should utilize is if the tool is used in a livery edit or creation then the livery therefore should be along the lines of in game vynil sharing in that if you use it then it is for you to use but not available in the shared sense and no monetary value should be avilable since the user did none of the work. It shouldnt be allowed in competition and again unshareable as competitive racing liveries. Its just like competitive racing you dont get to utilize handicaps or training wheels to compete and as such livery competition/monetary gain in game shouldnt allow this handicap/training wheel. Im all for people learning and getting creative, but if you need a logo or vynil, there are a thousand uploaded everyday, if you need something specific just ask one of the thousand ingame artists to help out, but if you think you should be applauded for not doing any work whatsoever, well, you miss the point of that aspect of the game entirely.

Simple solution - Make vinyl groups and user-created designs have an option to be SHAREABLE on other liveries. If they tick this option and their shared vinyl group is used on another livery and that livery gets a download, give them a small cut of the credits. That way if you have Player A who's a paint-tool master and can make anything he's getting 100% of the credits but if Player B comes a long and uses a bunch of user-created vinyl groups then they're not going to get 100% of the credits if their livery gets a download/like.

I'd love for this to be a thing! I'm one of those people like you, where I'm not willing (or able, for that matter) to put forth a LOT of effort just to get a paint job done! For me, I'd probably use it to import various different brand images or such to help make an official-looking race car, as I'm genuinely a fan of making proper race cars, rather than just street cars that are all 'riced' out. This tool, if the devs were to make an official itteration of it, would go a LONG way to allow people to make more complex works of art faster and more efficiently!

Honestly, I did alot of vinyl work in the past, and I'm for it. Not only does it let people who cant spend 10 hours of endurance to make a nice car have a better time, but people can now send and use a file of your design on another car copy-free. A feature we HAD BEFORE on fm3-fh1 through gifting. If the forza editor will not improve and get even worse at times, I see no reason to gatekeep these tools.

Heck yeah I would support it I've experienced it in Gran Turismo Sport and 7 and it makes it a hell of a lot easier making liveries especially decals for liveries but still up to you to make the livery look good it's not as easy as slapping it on and call it done so it still does take some experience even though you imported a photo to make it a decal

The only possible negative I see in using a tool like that would be in terms of copyright, because it's fan made using the games engine it could be considered fan art. But doing a copy paste perfect copy could lead to some sort of legal issue

I don't really agree that this gives PC players an "unfair advantage" over console players. Sure the console can't utilize this, but it's simply cosmetic. A PC player using this to make a cool livery won't give them an advantage in a race or pr stunt over a console user doing the same race or stunt without being able to make a livery using this tool.

I think the tool is one of those things that it should be up to the user at the end of the day, it doesnt give the player any actual in game benefits that actually matter ( ya know like ranks, money, xp). I work 18 hour days, I dont have a lot of time to make graphics, this tool would be a brilliant thing for people to use photoshop to custom make designs etc.

Reminds me of Forza Motorsport 2 360. There was a similar mod. Not many got banned unless it was an extreme image

For what u been hearing some people only got banned if u shared the imported livery/sticker to the search bar and some say its only like a week ban or something.

I used to make liveries of cars from childhood games and it was such a pain in the butt, I don't understand why this has to be so unnecessarily hard

As someone who used to sometimes spend days on a single livery, I have to say that the painting tools in general requires far more work and time from players than is fair. Although I agree that the process of designing a livery yourself is important, I also think that everyone should be able to create designs and paint a car how they want. IMO, if there was some way to differentiate between player made designs and tool assisted designs, that there would be no issue in a tool like this.

I feel similarly, I have tried to make liveries, and the accolades of getting livery downloads are bloody impossible if you don't have elite skills or just luck out with the sucky livery searching features. if this tool gets a decent looking livery for nowhere near the same amount of time, I would love to use it. Not to insult the really creative and good painters, but the hours if not days long "experience" that is said to exist is a bit pretentious, or at least doesn't apply to people who just want a decent looking livery for one or two seasonal races or whatever. If I want a nice livery, sure I could spend 5-6 hours painstakingly replicating every detail, or I can take a bit of a shortcut and get a slightly worse result. Maybe if the devs implement something like Gran Turismo has they can give a label or something on the livery to say it used the tool if it needs to be declared, or maybe some of the painters can see how much faster it can make their work. Either way it doesnt really matter, I'd love to see this tool come officially, or at least having the devs clear the current tool instead of randomly banning some of the people using it and not banning others. The same thing as FH4's controversy; just make it explicit and tell the community instead of doing it randomly.

No wonder some of these designs were crazy. I knew that something was going on because there’s no way some of these things can be created based on the basic shapes that are given to us. I obviously don’t think it gives any advantages but I don’t think it should be a thing unless everyone has access to it both console and PC. That’s just my take, but this explains a lot as to why I was seeing so many ridiculously crazy designs that I knew were not possible no matter how much time somebody had on their hands.

Imo, if the devs did make a tool, it should work like the GTA emblem designer, so you can edit it on the Web and then access you're design within the paint shop. This way all platforms can use the tool and it's available to everyone yk

I've been using the tool since it came out and think it's absolutely fabulous and I've always been more than willing to help out my Xbox friends with vinyls that they want. It would be cool if playground games did have some kind of website tool like Gran turmo where you can upload images into the game for those people that aren't fortunate enough to own a PC.

Imagine how many great designers would be able to port their masterpiece in to the game with just a couple of clicks. I bet that there could be people who can do really amazing stuff in photoshop who would want that feature too.

I would like the devs do some major upgrades to the paint booth. I love doing it but yes, the hours it takes to make a livery for it is time consuming. This tool is interesting, but it dues have its disadvantages because of it being only PC, and not in Xbox. But I’m not complaining, these vinyl pieces really good but making the logo of it does take up a lot of space with the restricted number of vinyls you can put onto the car. Thus will be another opportunity for the community for new upgrades for the paint booth.

Using existing images on the Forza storefront is how I got started in livery design and vinyl work in Forza. I eventually started making my own vinyls for my liveries (GT: Absolut Zero) and I would have loved to have this earlier in my livery-making career because now I’m thinking of adding my favorite WoW character (Ysera) to my vinyl portfolio and I haven’t seen much in the way of WoW vinyls besides Horde/Alliance symbols. Even if I was looking for the symbols of the races in the game taken straight off the various tabards, I’m out of luck. Risking a ban over this is not cool and Turn10/Playground Games needs to back off of people who use this tool.

I do t see a problem with the tool at all. Ive been wanting a major paint booth upgrade for years, but we only ever get fed crumbs here and there like with the caliper option. I want alot of the features that CarX Online has option to change different body panels (not just the hood and mirrors) Change shape paint textures like gloss and metallic Different color rims front n back Window stickers Then just add more vinyl options to choose from

Devs could either use this as an opportunity to implement this as a fully fledged function to the next games (for instance, by allowing players to opload a .jpg file directly to the game and use it as is), but nah, that takes work and good will.

In my opinion it is one thing to be good at the paint booth. However, if you want a certain decal for your car, you either make it yourself or pray someone else has made it. There have been times where I have had to scrap liveries because the decals I need don't exist, and I don't have the time to learn the sub-par decal maker to do so. Ironically, it would be easier for Forza to just allow the importing of image files than to install this "mod" to do it for you. Windows and Xbox have a good amount of compatibility, so it wouldn't be too hard to have a PC Livery editor, which allows people to make way better liveries using actually good software.

We need to get back to the old auction house where you can build s car with a livery and sell it as a complete car, I enjoyed selling cars and I know people enjoyed searching auction house for good designs. The whole storefront thing just doesn’t work for me

As someone who used to make tons of designs way back in FM4 and FH1. I really don't see it as an issue. Its an arcade game, not a league of champions that is designed for people to learn everything the hardcore way. Hence the reason assists exist in the game. If they do a system like GT have made in which you upload a file to the website then it should not be a problem at all. It will still be a skill to make awesome liveries, but in terms of Vinyl Groups it will make life a whole lot easier

The real, proper fix would be the devs actually integrating the tool into the game. And by doing so, mark if a livery has used the tool and perhaps slap a demerit on the credit revenue depending on the percentage of the livery that the tool was used to create. So if someone makes actual art by ignoring the integrated import tool they keep the full current revenue they get from downloads of the livery and those who use the tool are anywhere on a curve down to one percent or so if everything was just the tool's converted vinyls, so if half of the livery was the tool and the other half not, then the livery gives them only like ten percent revenue, so they make one tenth the credits of a livery that was painstakingly hand-created.

Plus the tool will take up a lot of space to add other decals

As an Xbox player who enjoys fh5, it does disappoint me for the fact I do not have the money for a PC and that I wish to make drift liveries and all these cool wraps I have been wanting to push myself to recreate, rather attempting to make it in game and mess up on one simple thing then having to restart, I wish they were to add this to Xbox with a little search bar for images online.

so if we can't get a gran turismo system, the only fair way for people to use forza painter is that the game detects it and prevents any credits being made from any decal or livery, therefore removing a measurable advantage. otherwise, there is no solution except bringing a gran turismo system

Another extremely unfair advantage this tool gives is the ability to PUBLISH very detailed vinyls for other people to use, in seconds. You know what that means: 999,999,999 cr. Not to mention the immense fps impact, the ability to create racist or ableist vinyls in seconds such as The Merchant, Soyjak, Chud, etc

It has no cons. The pros are as stated- it opens up making liveries to the masses, and makes it MUCH faster. The “cons” are people who are mad that their hours upon hours of creating decals the old way have been essentially wasted and they don’t want to have others do it easier than they did (looking at you, dev team, make a better livery editor please)

Although it has "and more." to the list, the reason Devs don't act too much on it is that it's more of a grey area and it doesn't affect anyone driving or chances to win more cars/in-game money, the drivers code state on number 4 - "Drive with Creativity - Customize your car liveries however you wish, as long as they follow our UGC rules and are appropriate to be viewed by drivers of all ages." And that could also move the tool to this in terms of the "customize your car liveries however you wish" but currently the Devs are more focused on hackers in races, bugs in and freedom and adding more content in the meantime. But as you stated in the video, unless the Devs give the tool a thumbs up, please be careful of using it. But please don't bug any of the PG teams of either to allow or disallow the tool, they know already but constant whining at them in the steam/reddit forms as that makes it no different to a Mosquito buzzing around them.

Honestly wish they would just let us import images, or let people have the option to make their final groups not prevent others from uploading designs including them. It wouldn’t be required, but it would be nice if creators could make final groups that everyone can use and upload designs with.

they have 2 choice: either to update the livery painter so that its very easy that even a 10 y/o can make it, or allow it (with the exception of using it for say livery competitions). for real its a frustration when I play Gran Turismo series and can simply make a favourite livery of mine but cant do anything for my Forza Horizon cars. Technically i could search them but then how many painters are willing to waste hundreds even thousands of hours to make what we/they want.

I think that as it stands currently, the tool in the same sort of gray area that mods in other games are. FFXIV for example (Before the recent stuff that's happened, mainly involving the game's top level content) has been a "Don't ask, don't tell" sort of thing. If people DO banned for it, then T10 needs to make that a known fact.

I think what the devs should do instead of allowing this, is make their own image importer (like GT7) and make it usable for both PC users (files on the hard drive) AND Xbox users (via USB or something), and flag liveries in the livery selector that use/have used that tool (even if the actual image is not on the car). That way we can still differentiate the 2 types of liveries: made by hand and made with tools

Hello Forza Livery artist DAT F0RD BOI here, i must say i am completely against the use of this vinyl generating tool but i do agree that the In game Painting system is Flawed whether that being the cars maping of the sides where vinyls go not lining up creating gaps where vinyls cannot go or huge vinyls Distorting, but i believe there's no issue with the way you need to make liveries, the format of using the thin cuved "Toe nail shape" to create an outline and then filling in with circles feel quite natural of a process and it is super satisfying to create something extravagant from scratch and I'm painting on xbox so realistically i see it as if i can do it then you can do it too, it just takes pratice and anyone who anyone who disagrees can stick to downloading vinyls it's what the people who made the vinyls shared them for there's nothing wrong with that
