@@e6Vlogs Lucky for me I've already joined you on the "other" side. Still I think your channel deserves a lot more following than this. I started using a View Catcher about a year ago. I have mine marked off for all the formats I shoot on film which include 4x5/8x10, 5x7 and 4x10. It's a huge help in composition and is usually the first step I take when encountering a scene. The next step is usually to get out the Artist Viewfinder App on the iPhone so I can view with a given format and set of lenses (virtualized), then finally I set up the camera, compose and meter and either make the exposure or rethink things usually based on the light that may have changed. I recommend these View Catchers to everyone.

Math nerd alert: You can divide the ratio to get a quotient to divide into the width of the viewing window. In the 16:9 ratio example, divide 16 by 9, then divide 5(cm) by the quotient of 1.7777. The result is 2.81. Craig, thank you for the years of great content.

Looks like a very nice gadget. I think the photoshop method of calculating how far to open is more complicated than you need. You can just use a calculator - for 16:9, take the 5cm long measurement for the longest side, multiply by 9 and divide by 16. 5.0cm*9/16 gives you 2.8cm.

I'd be a bit loathe to change the aspect ratio setting on my camera because it means throwing pixels away. As far as I know this doesn't exist, but I wish a camera had a setting to where you could do that and the jpegs would be cropped to the ratio you want (or zoomed in) but you'd be able to recover the missing pixels and un-crop it from the raw file.

Greg...I mean Craig, you are one of the most talented photographers on youtube and in general. Your videos are really down to earth and enjoyable as well as educational. I'm sorry to see you leave youtube. I've thought several times about joining the cool kids. I noticed you said in one of your recent videos that you were inclined to move away from landscape photography and towards photographing things you see in your daily walks, as well as architecture and abstracts, among other things. I like this approach because I can try to take those kind of pictures in my own neighborhood without having to travel like in landscape photography. Are you moving in that direction with your subscription service? For your subscription, how often do you create a new video, there's no dates on them, and how long are they, there's no length shown. More importantly, about what percentage, if any, of them show post-processing? One thing about your website, though. I understand about trying to prevent people from saving the images on your web pages simply by right clicking on them, but you are also preventing people from opening a link in a new tab by right clicking on it. It makes it somewhat hard to navigate your website. Thanks for all the videos you've made available on youtube up to now!
