In this episode Wrexham's own star Lili Jones sits down and talks everything Wrexham. From Rob and Ryan's take over to the mental health suffered by her late father.

Stumbled onto yous, wow! Keep it goin' for the lasses, lads! Here is something for everyone to think about: men are more individual and this shows up in our game and men need to overcome our own natures together to form a great side. Women are more naturally able to work together, be a team without egos to overcome, at least it's less of a problem for girls, for sure. This is the BEAUTY of women's football! ❤

What a superb podcast! As a USA Wrexham fan with a daughter who played local soccer, hearing Lili talk with such profundity about life, loss, and the trajectory of the the women's game in Wales, thrills me no end. Here in Seattle, there's a huge network of girls' soccer at all grade levels through college, and then on into professional careers. We've got Jess Fishlock out here, and the status of female players is naturally preeminent after several World Cup trophies for the USA. I love that Wrexham and Lili, et al, transform the dreams of young Welsh girls. What a future! I flew over for the Swindon game and can't wait to be back when Wrexham women represent Wales in the Champions' League.

I worked at a football retail shop (soccer store), the Select representative was introducing a ball prototype to us. The ball was lighter and a little smaller than a size 5 ball. He stated that Select had done some research and found women had a higher rate of ACL injuries and it was directly correlated with them using the standard size 5 ball. The next time I saw him he told me that Select had sent it for approval and no regulatory organization approved it, and the whole thing was dropped.

As someone who has followed the women’s game for over 10 years from day one of the wsl in England and seeing how much the Welsh teams have improved it’s been a long journey but it’s really starting to pay off and one day in the not so distant future the women’s game will be drawing in the same crowds as men on a regular basis. Loved this episode and can’t wait to see who else you manage to get on. Jon 😊

Wrexham AFC women's team made me fall in love with Football. I'm American and I don't even care that much about baseball and American football. I could not have cared less about Football. i've heard of Manchester United and that was it. Most years I can't even name the teams in the Superbowl or World Series. I know the names of most of the players. The men's team is pretty good as well. Brilliant.

What a great idea for a podcast and you could NOT have had a better guest for your first one. Lili is _proper_ Wrexham and speaks unbelievably well for someone so young - or old. How she manages to speak about ther Dad, that she was obviously SO close too, and still keep that smile that she always has on her face, is unreal. Great start, look forward to the rest. 👏👏👏Subbed.

The safest way to secure any business, football clubs included is to grow the market. Long term, there's zero reason you couldn't effectively double sales by developing the women's game. In an ideal scenario, any capital expense for a stadium pays off in half the time if you can double the number of games played in it and put butts in the seats.

Well done and I appreciate your focus on the women's game. One thing that did kind of bother me and I may be on an island on this one. A man calling professional women athletes girls is cringey to me. It may just be because I'm from the USA, I'm not sure. I know women's sports have progressed a bit more on this side of the pond and love the leaps and bounds the UK is making as whole but calling a woman a girl feels like a step back for me. Again it probably is just a cultural thing. With all this said I did enjoy the interview as a whole and have subscribed and will listen again. Up the town!

Just the way we talk in the UK, I'm 38 and go to football with the boys and they are all mid 30s. Also the PA guy shouts just before kick off Back the boys!

I see. Over here yes a man can call each other boys but it's kind of insulting for a man to call a professional woman a girl. Of course I'm speaking in generalities as some people aren't as progressive as myself. Like for instance, I don't think you'll ever hear Rob or Ryan call them girls. It's more about the culture that the women have set for themselves and us men follow what they prefer. Thank you though for the info. Everywhere is different when it comes to cultural norms. It is exciting to see the woman's game progress worldwide. As an American I can honestly say it was nice not seeing our women's national team dominate the world cup again. Parody is great for all sports to get exposure to different teams. Podcasts like this only help with progress. I look forward to the next episode.

@chriswilmes7734 it must just be a difference in cultures. Using the terms The Lads and The Girls is our way of demonstrating a feeling of closeness with the players. We wouldn't refer to the ladies team as Wrexham Girls Team, we would always say Wrexham Women or Wrexham Ladies. If we wanted to show disrespect or condescension then we would call them Laddies and Girlies. Lilly refers to her other team members as Girls. I'm absolutely certain that she also refers to the players of men's side as The Lads - which, according to you, is being disrespectful toward professional male athletes.
