Nice! That was fun to watch. I always wanted to get into long drive. I bought a 36” uncut shaft for my driver to see how much of a difference it would make in club speed and I was actually pretty surprised when I saw 6mph average speed increase after the first use. I played my home course and just couldn’t really tell if I was getting it further down the fairway bc the numbers into the green seemed pretty close to the numbers I was used to seeing. The only obvious improvement was on the 3rd hole/490yd par 5. Typically, I have about 205 into the green on a decent drive but I was inside of 200 last few times I’ve played, even missing the fairway and that felt great hitting a higher loft into a very firm fairway/green. Difference between a 3 and 5 iron for me (for some reason I only have about 5 yards of separation between my 3 iron and my 4 iron, and tbch, maybe no difference at all @ 210yds each). Maybe someone can explain why I don’t see a difference in those clubs. Not from the same set. Ping G2 and Ping 400. I could honestly probably take one out and add a gap wedge to close some of my approach distances with a full swing. Anyway, the driver is fun with a full 1.5” longer shaft. You really have to get used to the length at address first but once you get that down, it’s awesome.

I wish I was at this event! It looked like one of the coolest long drive comps i've seen. I wonder if this and maybe a few similar events linked to tour events through the season might be the way to finally get long drive into the public eye. With them having shorter playing days, I bet LIV would love a close of play long drive comp.
